After the birth of their first child the press asked: - Where will the child be sleeping? Frederik replied: - Within an arm's lenght. He IS a loving caring modern family man. :-)
Ivalo and Minik are Greenlandic names. The crown prince has a strong connection to Greenland. These two names caused his popularity in Greenland, already great, to go through the roof.
I think we as Danes care about our royal family. If we have a "brush encounter" with them, then most of us keep it to ourselves. Those who tatle are looked down on - at least by those I know. Like Prince Joachim and his first wife Princess Alexandra went on an ordinary vacation in Spain (or somewhere else), some of those in the group with them sent home pictures to the magazines and got money for those pictures. I find that SO wrong. They don't have to have a lot of security, because they have a LOT of bodyguards. Like the queen is going shopping in Copenhagen with her Lady-in-Waiting - or rather she used to while she was younger, but other than her L-i-W she did not have much more personel around. And from Amalienborg Castle you may see a young mother bike two of her kids of to shcool in a three-wheeler bike, with the kids in a box in front. And when she is gone you realize that it was the Crown Princess. They by the way also had an Australian Exchange Student living with them in Amalienborg Castle a few years ago. They are SO cool.
The Crown Prince or just Pingo as the frogmen calls him didn’t get a special treatment. He was told before he tried to join the Frogmen Corps that he would get sent home if he wasn’t good enough. The seal training and the frogman training are very similar. The Danish frogmen are so-called tier 1 operatives like Seal Team 6/DEVGRU. The best of the best.
True I love this family even more and more because they appreciate the small things in live .Aside from that it is so refreshing to the eyes and hearts.
He went to Harvard University too. And the training for Frogman, he took the whole thing, and like others before him, he was struggeling to meet the criteria at some point! He also took a tour with the Sirius patrol in Greenland. Not for the fai t heartet. 😊
@@MyNewDanishLife He has done many marathons. I believe his best time so far (he still runs marathons) are 3 H 6 minutes which are a time anyone can be more than proud of. You are (luckily) wrong about Royals ability to show public affection. You can find many many occasions where they kiss and hug in public. Absolutely no protocol against that. And you might not become a Princess but maybe "queen of the internet"? PLEASE do not say "that Christian guy" about the future King of Denmark. Maybe this are a bonus info you did not know but after the sad passing of Queen Elisabeth the Danish monarch now tops the global Royal rank. Should you be here when the Queen dies maybe you for yourself will learn things that make the 1000 year old tradition of succession after death more sensible to you. Remember that the entire nation mourns with Frederik in that situation, as well and thus the empathy towards the new king and queen will be strong. Same or next day, depending on time of death, Frederik will stand on the balcony of Amalienborg Castle, with Mary by his side, and a speaker will declare: Queen Margrethe the second is dead, long live King Frederik! Queen Margrethe the second have stated that she intent to stay with tradition and only if she are mentally weakened by sickness, like if she gets dementia, will she step down.
I love the Danish royals! Always have. In my opinion they do so much for Denmark; they travel the world (pre covid) and let the world know about us and spread awareness about our businesses and strong suits.
The Danish Royal family is Danish first, Royal second! Having gone through the ranks, Crown Prince Frederik is has definitely had his dose of humility. Now that he has been appointed one of the top dogs of the Danish military, he is probably better prepared than many figureheads of their country's military. Danish soldiers are bound to respect the fact that he is one of them! Let's revise a bit: Human first, Danish second, Royal third! Wanna bet he and Mary are raising sensible, down-to-earth kids?
How well Frederick was in his choice of a wife. Mary came from an interesting down to earth family a clever father a loving mother and siblings she was close to. They lived in a modest house in Tasmania , Australia so she would be able to relate to people from all walks of life and was an achiever in her chosen profession.Added to that she is Australian of course before taking on Danish citizenship! a very modest warm
OMG! I love, love, love the Danish Royals!! I can’t believe I found you. I would love to know more about them. I found the royals on U Tube and saw their wedding and speeches. So lovely! I particularly love Prince Fredrik, Princess May and their adorable children. Everything you said about them has been my impression as well. Thank you for having this podcast. I will watch over and over again. I’m in my retirement phase now otherwise I would have tried the Danish experience to include “ trying” to learn a little of the language. Thank you again! 🤗
Crown princess Mary is not named Donaldson anymore. As you mention a couple of times in the video the royals doesn't have surnames and this goes for Mary as well. When she got married to Frederik she had to renounce her surname. She also received Danish citizenship and lost her Australian one. All in all she got enrolled in the Danish royal family in multiple ways.
@@charisma-hornum-fries I doubt that they would have kept it. The rules for the royal family is more strict than for the average Dane, so even if we are allowed dual citizenship, I don't think the royals are allowed.
Funny story about our prince. Every year there is festival called “Burning man” in the Nevada desert. Where 60-70.000 people meet and celebrate advanced art and culture. In 2014 a Danish guy is walking around there dressed in a flowered kilt a gold vest and a high top hat. When you ask of his name, the answer is ‘Hamlet’. But it was the crown prince who where hiding behind the costume
I met him several times when he was going to flight school at Karup Air Base. He was very interested in the mainteance job which the company that I worked for on the T17 trainer
My dad was in the same military group as Frederik, when they got drafted. So we have photos of my dad and Frederik working/training in the military. If you didn’t know Frederik was the future king, you’d just write him off as a regular dude from looking at those photos.
I think that a large percentage of Danes really loves the royal family. And especially Greenlanders, I’m both Greenlandic 🇬🇱 and Danish 🇩🇰. Frederik and Margrethe really manages to connect the "rigsfælleskab", we feel the love and interest from them. Frederik and Mary also gave his twins Greenlandic names "Ivalo" and "Minik" to show his connection and appreciation to Greenland. I also share birthday with Frederik ☺️ So there’s alway flags up on the busses and around the town on my birthday 🇩🇰 My dad was a municipal councilor in Greenland and had a private fishing trip with Frederik and Joakim when they were kids before I was born. Only my dad, the boys and a security guard. Margrethe also use to have Greenlandic »tupilak« on the table when she gives the new year eves speech. I think that Mary got some kind of price for her speech on Frederik’s 50 years birthday. You can rewatch the speech here: ruclips.net/video/Wm6LYIgXH2c/видео.html
What I find the most attractive of Danes is how humble they are, not bragging or putting them above others. This royal family seems to be sincerely engaged and caring about their fellow countrymen and at the same time keep things normal within their family. They are the perfect role models. 💕👑
You gotta be kidding. Dave’s are definitely not humble. They like to talk everything up....”we have the best...blah blah blah” and don’t dare criticize anything Danish. They act like Communist China
I, as well as many other people throughout the world, love this Danish family, to me a family, even though they are principal members of the Royal family. The affection they show in public is somehing to admire. I have no connection with them since I live in the Republic of Panama but still love to follow every aspect of their lives and daily activities. Hope to visit Denmark someday.
Still think that also being with then “Sirius patrol” is quite the achievement. I was a Waiter when the ferrys sailed before Storebæltsbroen, and served them all often. They were always kind and nice. I now live and have lived in the area near Amalienborg for years. Before terror was a thing we were really observant about we often saw them out and about the city.
As you said ..an ideal royal couple reach our life.. I'm not Danish I'm a simple pilipino .been interesting the life of this monarch couple .so adorable genuine people ..god save their monarchy.. Respect and love 💘❤💕
As a Child in Greenland the Queen and Prince Henrik visited, my father had to show the qyeen around in the town. The Prince would go fishing for their dinner that night. I was buisdy with my Mother's hair 😁 and my mother shouted Lis get the super 8 camera and I filmed my father RUNNING home because the New car broke down. So he borrowed the car of PØLSEMANDEN 😆
in the royalties there is a very strict set of rules to how they can name their kids especially because their "Surname" is supposed to be their titles throughout their lives. I've been one of the few recruits that had the honour of sailing the queen and her family around on her yacht "Dannebrog". Every summer for quite a while the queen allow her heir the crown prince to borrow the ship for a trip around Denmark. just like she every summer takes the ship around the country. in every town we visited the royalties where meet with a official event and made invitations to the people of the area for come on board the ship and either dine or have a little snack with the royalties. Usually it is only the area's VIP's however at least 2 or 3 times a year the oldest people or some group of note will also get an invite for these events.
I went to high school/gymnasiet just next to the small castle where he stayed in Aarhus during his university days. It was during his "party age" and he actually turned up at the school party. Party on, dude! 😂🤘
I remember in 1997 President Bill Clinton strolling down Vesterbrogade in Copenhagen, to get a coffee at Café Baresso :) Totally perplexing Security and Police by that unplanned walk :D Thats just Denmark for you, or at least it was.. Frederik DID put some gray in his mothers hair as a young man though haha. He loved fast cars and motorcycles and since the police couldn't really give him speeding tickets, there where some "stern talking to" the young prince from Queen Magrethe :D
I am also a big fan of Danish royals. I love Princesses Mary and Marie. They seemed truly love their husbands. The crown Prince Frederick loves his family and loves Danish people. That what makes a great Prince, loving not only his self and family but in general his people. Also Prince Joachim.
I just loved your talk on the CP Frederick and Mary! I just love them they are, so down to earth, so natural and so loving. I would love to see more of them, more upto date things. Also would love some of their videos to have English sub-titles. Please keep us in the loop of their Lives.
Great video! I do enjoy hearing that other people, love our Royals, as much as we do ❤ HRH Crown Prince Frederik is a frømand (jægersoldat), the equivalent of a Navy Seal. He's a tri-athlet and has run the Väsa, in Sweden Thanks 🌸
Thanks for sharing. It's another great vieo. Regarding the many names, four in all, that's been a tradition for many years. Queen Margrete's third name is a tribute to Iceland before the island became an independent republic. Further, Vincent and Josefine, children of the crown prince couple, both have names relating to Greenland as a tribute. Before Mary Donaldson came in to spotlight, the crown prince seemed introverted, a bit muttering and on the defense. But since Mary, it seems the crown prince has a different attitude "yes, now I am willing to become king". It's like Mary respects him as he is, not what the people wants him to be
Hehe! You’re funny! I was in Copenhagen when he ran past. That was the last time I was there. I found out the prince of Norway was at UC Berkeley while I was there. I think that was pretty common. Guys who cry a little are adorable! I don’t cry, but somehow it’s very attractive on a man. Too bad I didn’t know there were cool guys in Denmark when I was in my 20’s (that they take care of the kids as well as the mothers). Danish people seem to get hooked pretty early, in general.
Crown prince Frederik also studied in the US for a year, on Harvard University, and he was stationed for 3 months at the UN in New York. This was not mentioned in the video.
Or if Christian's first child is a girl, she will be named Margrethe. 😊 They changed the law of succession, before Margrethe II became Queen to allow women to be regents. And then when Mary was pregnant, they changed the law again, this time to always favor the first born child regardless of gender. And I'm pretty sure, all future Danish queens will be called Margrethe. Or maybe Ingrid... (Margrethes mother's name was Ingrid.)
I am not a fan of royalty but i came across of a video of the wedding of Frederik and Mary, since that time i am so amazed with their love story and their humility. They both are beautiful souls, i love that about them. Of course both are good looking people plus their good looking adorable kids. Mary obviously love frederik for brave enough to yes to the marriage. Now i can say i am addicted to them and their family
I have been looking for videos about Danish Royalty…starting with the father in law of Europe, Christian ix’s reign… but almost all are understandably in Danish, which I don’t know a word of LOL. P.S Frederik is soooooo attractive as his wife is beautiful, along with their 4 heirs. I can’t stand the British royal family, they seem so fake and uppity… I get a very different vide from the Danish.
Hi :) Prins Joachim do also have an extra name which is Christian. And it's an old tradition that they both have the kings name like Frederik and Christian, in case if the crown prince dies before he have to take over the seat after his mother when she dies, or if Crown Prince Frederik chooses not to become a regent. :) I have my own "highlights" of being "near" the Danish Royal family. The first time was when i was around 7 years old and King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid did visit the city Frederikshavn, and they were passing me in their car. I was standing in the frontline to watch them waved to everybody. And some years later, when i was learning to be a chef in a restaurant in Frederikshavn, i was a part of that team in the kitchen who did make the dinner for the Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik. And again much later when i was a head chef on Rosenborg Slot, i did make dinner for the Queen and her guests at Frederiksberg Slot. :)
My favorite royal couple, thank you for this snap shot. I started following him prior to his wedding and am amazed at how down to earth he is. There is a picture of him in an aquarium kissing her through the glass which tugged at my heart. It seems that we are always focused to the English Royals but a little to stuffy for my taste.
The born Royals only mix with the Upper Class in British Society. Their behaviour in public is a fake act, decided for them by their upper -class advisors. Prince Charles does not l;lke William and Kate being more like the Danish Royals at all and has got them to move to Windsor where they can be supervised. He also does not like them seeing or being influenced by Kate's parents. The present social unrest and demands for more pay ,are a sign that the Upper class cossetted way of life has got to change . People want a fairer ,more equal society , with a levelling up of pay , but Prince Charles is not content with his 250 million pounds per year. He is taking bribes of millions of [pounds , to do favours for people. He cannot see that unless he behaves like Frederik and Mary, the British Monarchy is doomed.
I STARTED WATCHING YOU TUBE AND I AM HOOKED ON THE DANISH FAMILY. I WENT TO DENMARK IN 1974 ON A CRUISE. I GOT OFF THE SHIP FOR A TOUR THE STOP JUST BEFORE COPENHAGEN AND WE WERE UNABLE TO GET BACK ON THE SHIP BECAUSE OF WEATHER. WE TOOK A HYDROFOIL(?) TO COPENHAGEN AND THEY TOOK US TO THE YATCH (?) CLUB FOR TEA. IT WAS A LOVELY SURPRISE.
I WOULD LOVE TO GO BACK AGAIN BUT I WILL BE 83 SOON AND HAVING DIFFICULTY WALKING. PLEASE SEE ALL YOU CAN SEE WHILE YOU ARE YOUNG. THANKS FOR YOUR BLOG
I didn't know there were Royals in Denmark. (I never liked history). I came across the Cprinces wedding to Mary and I am now addicted to videos of them. He looked very baby faced to me and I became attracted to his brother who looks like my surgeon who I swoon over. The tables have turned since. I think they are an amazing couple and family. They say the happiest country in the world is Denmark. God bless them.
That is very nice to say. I agree that the brother was very nice looking at that wedding, but he has aged more than his brother. I wonder if there is a story behind that. There is always something new to learn! :)
He looks older than his big brother because he had a stroke in July 2020 at the family residence in France. This stroke weakened him both physically and emotionally. Since then he is better but his face (older than his age) is marked by this episode.
My “connection” to Kronprins Frederik and Prins Joakim is this: When I was, maybe, 6-ish, I was in Tivoli with my mom and sister. I was in Skærsilden (a fun house), and the two princes (who were teenagers at the time) ran wild in there. A little to wild for me, so I went out and told my mom and sis. They instantly said “you’re too little to recognise who they are”. Ten minutes later, my sis and I are on the Viking Ships, and who came on the ride and sat right in front of us?! Mhmm. A very satisfying “I told you so”.
Queen Elizabeth dedicated herself to service to the people of the UK and the Commonwealth for the WHOLE of her life. Her sense of duty is so strong that she has always put her role before her own wishes. It's not morbid or greedy, you just don't understand this level of commitment. It is the ultimate in self sacrifice for the people. In reality, the Prince of Wales is stepping up to support the Queen more and more. As are William & Catherine. Which is why Harry & Meghan running away to become billionaires has been so appalling, because they have deserted the Queen. Princess Mary of Denmark understands duty and service, she is outstanding.
I believe it's been years since anyone has been drawn for 'værnepligten' which is the mandatory military service you talked about - usually there are enough volunteers. And it's only 4 months! It can be longer if you choose to go into one of the specialty units like the Royal Life Guard etc. and of course if you decide to stay and further your military career, but otherwise it's 4 months :)
I didn't know that FX was a fan of DML (well, Dizzy Mizz Lizzie). Thanks for that piece of info. I happen to think that their music is groundbreaking on a fundamental level, regarding harmony specifically. As an amateur musician I appreciate Tim Christensens talent as a composer who, like Debussy, dares to use chord progressions never used before, unless you count the modernist kakophony of a bucket of cutlery falling down the stairs of Maurits Cornelis Escher (You're gonna love googling this guy!) DML is one creative, daring step ahead. But Tim is so modest, you'd think he was asleep :D
Have you seen this comment by Queen Margrethe II ruclips.net/video/XzXM7UDJdY8/видео.html About 50 seconds in the video she says about the crown princes absence: "When you jump on a trampoline and is almost 50 years old, it might not be so odd it can go wrong". It was a ceremony for Danish participants at the Olympic which the Crown prince is very supportive of. Due to his fall on the trampoline he hurt his neck and could not participate. She might the Queen, but she is also a mother, and mothers will scold kids when they do stupid things. I met her once at the bunker museum at Tirpitz dac.dk/en/knowledgebase/architecture/tirpitz-museum-in-hitlers-bunker/ . She had one body guard following here. He was carrying a folding chair so she could sit down if the knees troubled her. I did not know she would be at the museum (it was not publicly announced), so I was in an underground hallway looking at the museum displays when an elderly lady brushed my arm when she passed by. It was not until I noticed the bodyguard and the museum staff following here that I realized it was the Queen.
Our Queen is: Margrethe Alexandrine Þórhildur Ingrid of the House Glücksburg.. She have told on many occasions that she will be at her post until her last breath.. It is her Duty and Honor..
Im a dane, about the time when Our Crownprince will be King, it is really a sad occation as it is because my Queen is dead. I will be very sad. And Then to celebrate that He is now King of Denmark. I wish my Queen would stem down and take it easy the rest of her life, Then we can really celebrate Frederik becomming King, big party and them in horse carright ( think it is spelled ) around Copenhagen. That is how I like it to be. Oh I like your videos 😉👋
The danish navy seals are modelled after the american program for easy interactions. Also standard “forced” military service is 4 months and you get payed a decent wage in the meantime with some good perks!
Only discovered the Crown Prince and Princess lately but their official site has no English translation so if you do not understand the language ,, others lose interest in watching . Agree they are more relaxed and really a family unit and their children seem well behaved and engaged in their family activities . Also liked the Royal Run that encourages every citizen to join, some as family and everybody who finished gets a medal
I did the Royal Run 19 and it was so much fun. My husband and I watched the 18 run and really wanted to do it. We also did the Kronprinsesse Mary Bridge Run And that was rainy and cold, but fun. It’s gonna be great when all the runs are back. I had surgery in my neck 5 weeks ago and ca do high impact stuff for about two more months but it’s going to be so amazing getting out there again.
The Crown prince's titles as "Commander" of this or that, is only by name. He won't actually be in charge of the Military. Our Monarchy has no political powers. That's for our Politicians :-) ! Prince Frederik really doesn't have control of anything else, than his household. But still! The Queen, and him, are very important to Denmark. They represent our culture and Denmark..., especially, when traveling abroad. Their major functions are as Ambassadors, and attract trade options :-) ! We LOVE :-) our Aussie Crown princess ! At the retirement home, you both looked great ;-) ! Cool, that you both where there ;-) ! Have a great weekend :-) !
Not only the Royals have long names, mine is Johannes Arne Schiønning Bjørner, however when I emigrated to the US I had to drop the slashes through the “O”’s, or they would think I made a mistake!
If you want to know more about the Sirius patrol, of which Frederik was a part, here is an older (but good) documentary from Danmarks Radio. Unfortunately, there are no subtitles, but it is in a leisurely pace, so it is actually good for those who are learning Danish. Enjoy! P.S. Find the rug because it's getting cold. ruclips.net/video/hOXMAIM4tTA/видео.html Interview with Frederik about Sirius: www.dr.dk/bonanza/serie/446/kronprins-frederik/426/kronprinsens-groenland
They do have a last name. The late prince consort Henrik was born count de Montpezat, and therefore the family now has a proper family name. Crown Princess Mary's speach at her husband's 50 Year birthday is on RUclips - worth watching 😊 Crown Princess Mary learning Danish - everybody in court was told to only speak Danish to her. Learning the hard way I guess but very efficient 😊 When the twins were born the Crown Prince met the press and told about the babies, and as he said: "one is this long, and the other is this tall' showing the size with his hands. I guess you need to see it (well to Danes is was hilarious 😁🤣).
Se i øvrigt kongehuset.dk
@@carolinekofahl8867 ok. Men se du klippet fra prins Joakim og danmarkmarkshistorien, så finder du ud af at det er deres efternavn 😉👍🏻 om det så betyder/kommer fra ordet konge..
The boys will actually have both Christian and Frederik, just in alternating order, but the other names will be based on familial connections, grandparents, great-grandparents, and then just 1 of their own absolutely free choice. So still only need to debate 1 name per kid. Girls high up in the list of heirs to the throne, will definitely be named Margrethe, since there have only been two female monarchs, and the first wasn't actually a reigning queen on paper just in reality.
Dear, obviously sweet Kelly! Tell your husband (old danish: husbond from hus = house, and bonde= farmer) that I'm way too old for you. ;-) I like what you do on the tube, please don't stop. You are definitely doing something right!! I keep clicking and liking what you tell us.. So, about H.M. Frederik X... I guess what you're saying is that 'Frede' wants to be like other people, because he wants to be human, because, well, he's human. I believe it is all about realism. And that this realism is also why so many of us danes love our royalty more than the british do theirs. Paradoxically, the royal family becomes more like a fairytale, if they are just playing plain nice people on the plane to Spain... Now, ain't that something to ponder about! Also, a president is more expensive... Ours is a so-called constitutional monarky. The queen approves to the choice of president (statsminister, state's minister, and by the way, minister means servant, as in public servant). This is a formality. But it is one that preserves the representative person, Her Majesty Margrethe 'Daisy' Den Anden (II) and lends her the respect of the people, which in turn gives her the authority to represent our country, and perhaps also offered her the gift (a danish word for poison) of an in fact rather fabulously cool smoking habbit that we all love... And of course the incredible love of at least 69 % of our population (more than cheese out of wine!), and more than any political party ever without rigging elections. She applied anonymously for an art project, and won! She is not an empty, cold hearted fake cake, she is the real deal, and even if I were an anti-constitutional monarchist I would have to give that and much more. She's got more brains than China. And Frederik also had a rather great father. Who I believe struggled with male issues, but who was a sweet man all of the time, a good man some of the time and a wise man when he got the time off. So Frederik is all that. And of course he is all that he made of himself by going through things, where I wouldn't last a day! We are fortunate with our royal P.I.T.A. We don't have to spend billions on elections. We have a buffer zone between IDENTITY and POLITICS: I Didn't Even Notice The Idiotic Yap (IDENTITY) and Please Overlook Legally Insane Talking Issues Concerning Someones (POLITICS)
In almost all monarchies in the west. The King/Queen can abdicate as it is called, if for example they do not feel that they can fulfill their responsibilities to the nation. Now Queen Margrethe has talked about this & she will probably never do this. Her father was stern in saying that you hold the throne until the end! Frederik might have a more mellow view on this & let his son take over so he can lean back & relax in his old age.
No hard feelings against the royal family. They're dedicated and admirable people. But I'm one of the few republicans in Denmark who just dislike the institution of monarchy in general.
Danish military service is 9 mouths and national-service is by draw. However if you are not drawn and you wise to serve in the Danish military, if you are of good health then, you can use your right to serve in the Danish armer forces for a period of nine months.
Our royals are allowed to abdicate, they dont have to die before the next in line can step up ....i think they are amazing.. the young gentlemens upbringing were very strict, their father did not hand out alot of hugs..... him being old school french..... and that's why Frederik and Mary has chosen to do a 180 inregards to their way of upbringing
Kelly. I need to correct you. Though I love our royals. There not in charge of anything. "Fred" wouldn't be in charge of the Military or anything else. They are our first family and act as Ambassadors to Denmark. We're a constitutional Monarchy. I actually met two US Seals that where on training here (years ago). They met him and vouched for him as a "Frogman" (Danish Seal). Our next King is legit 👍 ! The military titles are just that. Just titles 😊 ! Even though I'd follow him to Hell and back, any day 👍😊👍!! As always a really good post ❤️. PS: You could easily have become the next Queen of Denmark! You were just at the wrong bar, at the wrong time 😉😊 !!
My mother in law compared me a lot to the princess when I first started dating my husband. Apparently, it was very important to her that I learn Danish for the month that I spent there every year. LOL I reminded her that her son wasn't a prince, so it didn't seem likely that I would learn Danish for those short trips. LOL
The reason I respect crown prince Frederik is because a long time ago I saw him on tv sitting underwater without breathing for 5 minutes or so. Part of his military training.
Interesting and enjoyable video. Funny to see an American being so interested in the royals. Btw, wasn't it the whole idea with the US to rid it of royalty? 🤔🇺🇸👑?
You have got to remember the context of the countries in europe when the move to US happened. This was before a lot of the democracy in europe happened. Funnily enough we had a mad (mentally ill) king in Denmark at around the time of the birth of USA, Christian VII. Probably one of the shakiest times in the history of the danish monarchy.
I studied at Århus University when Frederik also studied there. He (and his lifeguards) would come to the parties at the Efor House and hang out at the bar. Girls would still try to chat him up although he was dating a tv host at the time. Fun times!
She can, but she won't. In her own words the position is a commitment for life, but as she has been doing, she is leaving more and more to Frederik and Mary.
If your name gets drawn from the lottery, you have to serve in the military for a period of minimum 4 months (unless you choose to become a denier of the military) you will instead be forced to do community service. If you choose to become a royal guard then I believe it is 9 months of service. But the basic military training, is only for if Denmark should be invaded or attacked within our own boarders. Danes who chooses to go to war outside our borders have much more and specialized training and education.
Great video Kelly! 👏👏 I'm not a royalist, but have to admit that I do like Frederik and Mary. They're a great looking couple, and so down to earth. Regarding All those first names, I believe it's to honour their elders. He has been very active in his younger days, in particular running and sailing. He has several military educations and has as you noted been a frogman (NOT an easy task) and he also did a full tour on the Sirius Patrol on Greenland. He is known for his rather relaxed approach and a good sense of humour (unlike his younger brother who is known for being a stickler for etiquette and for being quite arrogant). I liked your anecdotes re the Royal Run and from Chicago. Well done! 👍 Mary's speech to Freddie in his 50th b'day. (don't know if English subtitles will work...) ruclips.net/video/Wm6LYIgXH2c/видео.html
After the birth of their first child the press asked: - Where will the child be sleeping? Frederik replied: - Within an arm's lenght.
He IS a loving caring modern family man. :-)
I love the royal danish family more than any other royal family…they are so human, touchable, normal, beautiful etc!
Ivalo and Minik are Greenlandic names. The crown prince has a strong connection to Greenland. These two names caused his popularity in Greenland, already great, to go through the roof.
I live in Sisimiut and love Greenland, it pains me that they are so eager for independence to their own loss.
Very cool! Thanks! ;)
And his undercover name was Frederik Henriksen in lack of a normal last name. 😀
Thank you so much for this video!
I love the Danish Royal Family especially the Crown Prince and Princess and their children. ❤️
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@MyNewDanishLife Yes. Thank you so much! Hope you could make more videos about the Danish Royal Family.
Mary came
from an interesting down to earth family a clever father a loving
mother and siblings she was close to. They lived in a modest
house in Tasmania , Australia so she would be able to relate to
people from all walks of life and was an achiever in her chosen
profession.Added to that she is Australian of course before taking
on Danish citizenship!
a very modest warm
Yeah. We didn’t have dual citizenship back then. I’m sure we would have kept her Aussie one today for diplomacy etc.
I rewatched it yesterdat actually. LOL :) That is so great that they are so connected with Greenlandic cultures. Very nice!

And we LOVE the royal family too in Greenland 💕🇬🇱
What I find the most attractive of Danes is how humble they are, not bragging or putting them above others. This royal family seems to be sincerely engaged and caring about their fellow countrymen and at the same time keep things normal within their family. They are the perfect role models. 💕👑
You gotta be kidding. Dave’s are definitely not humble. They like to talk everything up....”we have the best...blah blah blah” and don’t dare criticize anything Danish. They act like Communist China
@@Logies_right_hand Wow... Are you by any chance danish..? Or to put it in danish: "Du sku' vel ikke tilfældigvis være dansker..? Lol
Loved that he cried at his wedding
That sound like a funny memory! ;)
in the royalties there is a very strict set of rules to how they can name their kids especially because their "Surname" is supposed to be their titles throughout their lives.
😂🤘
One of my teachers of Danish met the royal family at a similar "tea and cake" party while she was living in Vietnam)
That is really cool.
Love them just as much as you I am an Australian 💙💓🇦🇺
I just loved your talk on the CP Frederick and Mary! I just love them they are, so down to earth, so natural and so loving. I would love to see more of them, more upto date things. Also would love some of their videos to have English sub-titles.
Please keep us in the loop of their Lives.
Great video! I do enjoy hearing that other people, love our Royals, as much as we do ❤
HRH Crown Prince Frederik is a frømand (jægersoldat), the equivalent of a Navy Seal. He's a tri-athlet and has run the Väsa, in Sweden
Thanks 🌸
Frømand. Jægersoldat is more ala Delta Force.
Some years ago, the Queen visited my parents' village on the sommer journey. The village was doing a renewable energy testing. That was quite nice :oD
I love connecting with them. They are both so appealing to the average
Thank you so much for a beautiful story. Hope to hear from you again.
I have a new video coming out on Thursday! :)
It's like Mary respects him as he is, not what the people wants him to be
Very neat! :)

Thanks. ;)
Very true. I decided to cut that out, since the video was getting very long! LOL ;)
When Frederik was a frømand he was annoyed by special treatment and declined any of such treatment.
Or if Christian's first child is a girl, she will be named Margrethe. 😊
They changed the law of succession, before Margrethe II became Queen to allow women to be regents. And then when Mary was pregnant, they changed the law again, this time to always favor the first born child regardless of gender.
And I'm pretty sure, all future Danish queens will be called Margrethe.
Or maybe Ingrid... (Margrethes mother's name was Ingrid.)
I hadn’t thought of that! 🤔
Loved your story. I would want to be there too. Gorgeous family.
Thank you so much!
What a lovely story about meeting the royals. 😊
Me too!!
Me too😀
I have been looking for videos about Danish Royalty…starting with the father in law of Europe, Christian ix’s reign… but almost all are understandably in Danish, which I don’t know a word of LOL.
P.S Frederik is soooooo attractive as his wife is beautiful, along with their 4 heirs. I can’t stand the British royal family, they seem so fake and uppity… I get a very different vide from the Danish.
Me too..I love the royal couple.
I have my own "highlights" of being "near" the Danish Royal family. :)
Very interesting!
Frederick and Mary are a Great couple!
Exactly what I think
Thanks for being here! :)
We love them. And we are very happy, that they are sane
@@christopheroux2546 That is horrible. :(
That's really true?ahh beautiful culture I pray for Denmark.Everyone is good,I like to live there no bad people.Testimonies are Great!

@@MyNewDanishLife True, unfortunately.
My “connection” to Kronprins Frederik and Prins Joakim is this:
When I was, maybe, 6-ish, I was in Tivoli with my mom and sister.
My favourite royal family, no scandals, unlike the British house of Windsor.
The Best Royal couple in the world, Crown Prince Frederick & Crown Princess Mary of Denmark
Ah yes... "Self sacrifice"! I call BS
As an amateur musician I appreciate Tim Christensens talent as a composer who, like Debussy, dares to use chord progressions never used before, unless you count the modernist kakophony of a bucket of cutlery falling down the stairs of Maurits Cornelis Escher (You're gonna love googling this guy!)
DML is one creative, daring step ahead. But Tim is so modest, you'd think he was asleep :D
Mange tak for another fine video Kelly.:)
Many years ago, I had an aunt that actually cooked and help serve a meal for Queen Margrethe.
Wow. That is cool!
I have 4 first names as well . It’s old European custom

Crown Princess Mary's speach at her husband's 50 Year birthday is on RUclips - worth watching 😊
Crown Princess Mary learning Danish - everybody in court was told to only speak Danish to her. Learning the hard way I guess but very efficient 😊

Det er vist ikke helt korrekt. Han bærer navnet André som en hyldest til sin farfar. Frederik er greve af Monpezat, hvilket ikke er det samme som at hedde Monpezat til efternavn

Interesting
Dear, obviously sweet Kelly!
Tell your husband (old danish: husbond
from hus = house, and bonde= farmer)
that I'm way too old for you. ;-)
I like what you do on the tube,
please don't stop.
You are definitely doing something right!!
I keep clicking and liking what you tell us..
So, about H.M. Frederik X...
I guess what you're saying is
that 'Frede' wants to be like other people,
because he wants to be human,
because, well, he's human.
I believe it is all about realism.
And that this realism is also why so many of us danes
love our royalty more than the british do theirs.
Paradoxically, the royal family becomes
more like a fairytale, if they are just
playing plain nice people on the plane to Spain...
Now, ain't that something to ponder about!
Also, a president is more expensive...
Ours is a so-called constitutional monarky.
The queen approves
to the choice of president (statsminister, state's minister,
and by the way, minister means servant, as in public servant).
This is a formality.
But it is one that preserves
the representative person,
Her Majesty Margrethe 'Daisy' Den Anden (II)
and lends her the respect of the people,
which in turn gives her the authority to represent our country,
and perhaps also offered her the gift (a danish word for poison)
of an in fact rather fabulously cool smoking habbit that we all love...
And of course the incredible love of at least
69 % of our population (more than cheese out of wine!),
and more than any political party ever without rigging elections.
She applied anonymously for an art project, and won!
She is not an empty, cold hearted fake cake,
she is the real deal, and even if I were
an anti-constitutional monarchist
I would have to give that and much more.
She's got more brains than China.
And Frederik also had a rather great father.
Who I believe struggled with male issues,
but who was a sweet man all of the time,
a good man some of the time
and a wise man when he got the time off.
So Frederik is all that.
And of course he is all that he made of himself
by going through things, where
I wouldn't last a day!
We are fortunate with our royal P.I.T.A.
We don't have to spend billions on elections.
We have a buffer zone between IDENTITY
and
POLITICS:
I Didn't Even Notice The Idiotic Yap (IDENTITY)
and
Please Overlook Legally Insane Talking Issues Concerning Someones (POLITICS)
Both twins 3rd name are Greenlandic.

Most places it's only 4 months.
I like your page. But why do you not give ppl a Pay back, just a like or thumbs up???
The twins have both a name from Greenland...
I used to run….does that count?
Sure! :)
I have this suspicion: You like to make these videos. 🙂 Good!
LOL
Good response 👍😀👍 to your mother in law! That's the Danish direct, right there ❤️
Perdona no te entiendo gracias bendiciones
They do have `some’ last names - shcleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glucksburg.🤷♀️🤯
Fredrik attended university under the fake last name Henriksen, and i find that really funny.

Yes, funny but effective too.
Only Danes knew Frederik was Prince Henrik's son
ie Henriksen in danish
The dynasty's full name in Danish is Slesvig-Holsten-Sønderborg-Lyksborg
Your husband looks very handsome, indeed
Thanks! :)
Also he's an AGF supporter..
An inside scoop? Yes, bring it on, Kelly! Ha! 😄
Edited: However...!
I like prince Harry and his wonderful (and extremely beautiful) wife. Glad they got out of that dysfunctional family! 🇬🇧🚶🏼♂️🚶🏽♀️
Prince Frede is easy on the eye(s)? Ok. Good for him then.
I think you know this but I have to mention that the king or queen in this country isn't in charge of anything. 🙂
The reason I respect crown prince Frederik is because a long time ago I saw him on tv sitting underwater without breathing for 5 minutes or so. Part of his military training.
That's funny. I have right here a beer, also from Thisted Bryghus, called "LIMFJORDS-PORTER". My absolute favorite. Cheers!
Fun times!
That is awesome!!
Actually Queen Margrethe can just resign. The same with Frederik when he gets old. So they can see them be kings or queens :)
She can, but she won't. In her own words the position is a commitment for life, but as she has been doing, she is leaving more and more to Frederik and Mary.
I agree
Margrethe II is 100% dedicated, she will continue as Queen until the last heartbeat.
Well done! 👍
Mary's speech to Freddie in his 50th b'day. (don't know if English subtitles will work...)

Thanks, Peter! :)
