Dude including the Hardy Boys makes me love your channel even more!! My original Frank Hardy Doll poses with all of my new pens lol. He's traveled all over the world. I just got the green leaf one I keep renaming land of the lost.
I love it Hem! I graduated in Cali, ‘73, hot pants, bell bottoms, totally that blonde California girl. But you couldn’t pay me to move back. 😎 But sure loved the 70s!
Found this video after opening up my Estie in Funky Lake. Got the piston-filler (my first) in the needlepoint nib because I’m a watercolor enthusiast who does a lot of ink and wash! My other Estie is a Raven with a broad nib, which was a contrast to all of my ultra fine pens! Thanks for affirming my choice to pick an unusual nib and the piston filler!
Oh the 70’s, the music! I came so close to falling into the rabbit hole of nostalgia because of the excellent marketing package Esterbrook did on this pen. Sweet times, but I don’t need the pen to remember ❤
Thank you very much!!! You may fall off the credits for a bit because this one was moved up but you will be back on so don’t worry! Thanks for watching and for your kind and generous support.
Purchased the Quirky Leaf Estie at the Atlas Sidewalk sale last week with a Journaler nib and it is an amazing writer. I’ve been using it daily (inked up with FWP Oyster Hour, it’s been a nice combo).
Thanks Hemingway! Part of me wants to ask you to talk about pens that are uninteresting or seriously flawed. My bank account would thank you. :) Really though, thanks for going to all the work of putting this together and reviewing this new fun pen. I've seen it and have been curious about it.
Thank you for the video! I like your use of “scribing noise” to describe the noise the pen makes when you write. People sometimes use “feedback” or “audible feedback” but that confuses it with the drag feeling on the page.
Thank you very much! That’s precisely why I created that phrase! I wanted to make it more clear. I was thinking of “Bartleby, the Scrivener” by Melville. And the sound the quills must make. Thanks so much!
Wow a Tuesday Two-Fer! A salute to the “2nd Convention, 2nd Nite? Sorry I couldn’t resist. Enjoyed both the Live Chat Cast, and this video that followed. It put to rest what was in the yellow box that I saw you receive at the Esterbrook table in your DC show video. Nice looking pen, love the hint of amber peeking out of the cap end, yay something new. Not clear of what the Theme “Back to the Land” is all about and its relationship to the pen, but that is ok. Really enjoyed the way you told the story of this pen, thanks.
Yes, easy switch from the live show. That box reminds me of a lunchbox from the era. That Funky Lake could be a thermos color :) I love some of their specialized nibs. The next Estie I want to get though is the raven. I'm such a colorful guy :)
At least they’re going to give you a special box for the money, this time.I thought the raven came with a special box for some reason before it showed up in a regular box, which basically meant, hey here’s your $200 black pen. 😂🤷🏻♂️
Not living in America and for 1/3 of my monthly salary i don't think i will ever get one. Although i would like to try those custom nibs Esterbrook offers.
@@HemingwayJones Nice, I have the now out-of-production black and yellow one he wears in that film among many others. I bought that one after seeing it in Kingsman many years ago. Love Fred Perry and love that movie. Recently watched it after you did the video on it. Great recommendation!

Hello Everyone! Thanks for being here!
What do you think???
I'm tempted to get the funky leaf because it reminds me of the decor from my childhood. A dull orange would be another good colour for these.
Flawless taste!! 🧐
I decided to watch it on my TV.

A beautiful pen, and a very beautiful blue.
Love your review! It is fun and informative!
Thanks so much!

Great video HJ!
Glad you enjoyed it
Beautiful pen and ink combination. Very satisfying.
Thank you so much!

Thanks so much, I’m glad you like it! Those are some excellent choices.
Just ordered this with Medium nib and the button filler today. Really looking forward to it. Thanks for the review!
Enjoy!

Glad you enjoyed it the video! That is my goal.
Great colors, great music, great clothes-bell bottoms, platform shoes, and Stevie Wonder
Hear, hear! Thanks so much!
I grew up in Philadelphia in row houses with a soda shop on the corner, in the 1950s.
Those were good days!
They really nailed the colors. I would have a hard time picking just one.
Hear, hear! I agree completely! Thanks for watching.
Greetings HJ! The Funky Lake and the Green one are both nice! Thanks for showing them to us!
Thank you for watching! I appreciate it.
OMG…my teenage years were the ‘70s…brings back so many memories
Wonderful! So glad to hear.
Great video, so well done and informative. I'm feeling nostalgic for the seventies.
Thank you so much and thanks for watching!!!!
Oh, those colors! Great image sourcing.
And I exist! First time I've seen myself in the acknowledgments! Thank you.

You have chosen… wisely.
Beautiful review. I own 2 standard Esterbrook Esties and 1 Oversize Estie. They’re among my favorite daily drivers.
Very nice! Enjoy! They are wonderful!
Great video! I love writing with my Esterbrook Esties, and also elect not to post the cap. Nice choice of ink for the video. 👍
Awesome! Thank you!

That color makes me think Caribbean Blue.
I can see that!
Great video! That pen does look cool. The 70’s were a great time!
They were indeed. Thanks so much for watching!
Dynamite!
Nice! Well played!
My God what a remembering for those we live the 70´s
Right!? We were lucky to have that time. Before everything changed.
Ahh the 70s. Best times ever!
I’ve yet to add an Estie to my collection, but this one may be my first!
Thanks so much for watching!
I bought this exact one at the DC pen show. Love it. Have it inked with a turquoise from diamine
You have excellent taste My Friend!

The Raven is probably my favorite of my Esties. I love the matte finish.
That would be cool! I love the Raven!
Very nice
Thanks!
Cool pen holder HJ 😊
Right!? Sincerely!
Purchased today! 😊
Hope you like it!

Thanks! Amazing library. Which was it?
At the end was the Concord Library and the final shot was the Library of Congress.
Pen Chalet sells it for $175.
09:05 - Christ man! I thought that was the button to turn on the milk frother on when you stick it in you coffee! 😂.
The Button Fill? It is a unique feature. I like that it’s out there, but have yet to use one. Thanks for watching and great comment.

Easy switch over. 😂
Nice! Thank you!!!
Is your polo navy and white or navy and yellow?
It’s Navy and Yellow. It is the same one Russell Crowe wore in “A Good Year,” minus the paint stains! It’s one of my favorite films.

It’s a nice looking pen, but I’m sorry, I’m not paying A$330+ for an off-the-shelf steel nib.
All I care is that you enjoyed the video! Thank you for watching and find inspiration wherever you choose. Thanks very much!
I enjoy all your videos. Thank you for taking the time to make them.
