Hey Ste! Great tutorial! While testing this myself, at around 6:00 in the video where you are deleting the unseen / overlapping sections, I tried selecting one of these and then went to "select", "same" "Fill & Stroke" which then selected all of these sections. Took the guess work out of finding the hidden sections and might help make this part a little easier for people. Thought I'd share this just incase it might help anyone struggling here. Not to take away from an already amazing tutorial! :)
Cool, a friendly tip at 5:38, direct select one of the shapes, go to select (fill color) will select all shapes, ctrl/cmd + X, ctrl/cmd + A, delete, then ctrl F.

You have some of the most straight forward and easy to follow tuts on RUclips from what I've seen (I'm subbed to ~50 Ai/Ps tut channels), and the effects you teach are always modern and have a great aesthetic. You can simplify your tutorial. After shape creation release shape and ungroup all some times, after that just select one piece of shape filled with solid black color - select same fill color - hide selection - delete all junk shapes - unhide all - profit

I usually pick the black and then hit " select > Same > Fill Color .. and then hit ctrl X ( cut ) .. now that the solid black are in the clipboard Ill just ctrl + A the whole canvas and delete .. then ctrl + V so that the solids are revealed again. :)
Actually the att logo was made way before 3D was integrated into illustrator, so someone probably old-schooled it with a French curve and ruling pen. Lol

it would be really cool to know your take on glitch or distorted tecno like type
ctrl + Y to show outline preview so you see each and every line without the need to select the whole object.
You can just press control/command + Y, if you want to see the "invisible paths ".
That toggles the outline view and shows every path on the document.

To see the invisible lines hit Cmnd+Y and you can see all de elements in your document, once you delete the things you don´t want hita again Cmnd+Y

Alternatively, you could do Object -> Path -> Clean Up. There's an option to delete unpainted objects which these are.
Bufishawt thank you, after manually trying to delete the extra paths I still wasn’t able to adjust the color of the shape. This fixed that!
