thank you very much for this video it was a very good video I'm struggling to decide whether or not I want to become a teacher and your video helped me thank you.
I considered (and still am to some extent) teaching English in a high school setting. However, since coming to university I've noticed that young people are not how they were when I was in high school (I started university in my late 20s). Many DO talk while the professors are speaking, or they talk over each other. A lot of them skip classes then complain about getting poor grades. I've noticed that, in general, students have less respect for education, their peers, and their teachers than people around my age did/do. And this is in a university setting, where supposedly top students attend. I don't know if I have the patience to deal with that sort of behaviour on a daily basis, so I'm still on the fence about becoming a teacher.
I sucked at everything else in high school except English. I now teach 9th grade Literature and it is the best job I could ever hope for. I started vlogging about it this year, which has been a great connection point for my students and I. Good luck!
Trying to decide if I should switch my major. Did an undergraduate in communication and journalism nowdoing a masters in sociology but torn between getting a masters in English and composition. Not the best with grammar but always been a creative writer in poetry. Definitely one of my stronger subjects. I also consider school counseling. I love the first teachers reason for his crappy teacher. Haha. That's partly my experience for my interest in being a counselor. One of the worst ever. Did nothing to help guide students.
Your comment is my life. I am involved in all of these majors, toy with being an English teacher and also considering counseling for my MA. I hope all is well.
The hard part is that it's different for everyone. I have a teaching vlog that shares tips and strategies, but I know that everyone shouldn't do what I do. The kind of teacher you will be should depend on your personality. Let who you are shine through and it will win the kids over every time. Good luck!
