I was raised in the Phenix City area. Camped below Goatrock Dam since the early seventies until they closed the camping area. Many great memories on that muddy river.
Alan Jackson is a great American singer & songwriter who blended traditional honky-tonk & mainstream country pop sounds. He has so many hits such as "Here In The Real World", "Wanted", "Chasin' That Neon Rainbow", "I'd Love You All Over Again", "Don't Rock the Jukebox" "Someday", "Dallas", "Love's Got A Hold on You", "Midnight in Montgomery", "She's Got The Rhythm (And I Got the Blues)", "Tonight I Climbed The Wall", "Mercury Blues", "(Who Says) You Can't Have It All", "Little Bitty", "There Goes", "Who's Cheatin' Who", "I'll Go On Loving You" etc
Every single time I hear this song, it reminds me of my 3rd child, my 2nd daughter, who was around 18 months old the 1st time she heard it and instantly loved it. I can see her, in the back seat, sitting in her car seat, bobbing back and forth dancing to it and singing along with most of the lyrics, right down to the end with “that’s right”! Because she still had the “baby talk”, not being able to say all words correctly, made listening to her even more precious to me. My little girl is now almost 31 years old & has 3 babies of her own. But I’ll always remember that little girl dancing & singing along with “Chat-Hooshee” as she pronounced it.
for those who don't know the Hoochie Coochie was a type of dance generally performed by burlesque dancers as well as belly dancers and was considered extremely provocative
I remember when this song came out and I had to explain it to my little brother... but I made sure to keep it kinda PG... he was 12 or 13 at the time of the release of this song (1992)
More Alan Jackson: "She's got the rhythm (and I got the blues), "Mercury Blues", "Don't rock the jukebox", "Chasin' that neon rainbow", "Summertime blues", "Little Bitty", "I don't even know your name"
My greatest memory of this song... My son as a toddler singing very loudly "Way down yonder on the Catapoochie"! (He's 30 now!) I have a VCR tape with him singing it!!! He's embarrassed by it now, but I love it!!!
Great song!! I actually live just a few miles from the Chattahoochee (or the Hooch, as we call it) here in Georgia, USA. But I didn't grow up here. I grew up in the northeastern US on a river very much like the Hooch. I was a teen in the 90's when this song was BIG. We used to party and camp on the river almost every night in the summer, and this song was always played at least once, if not more. We used to change the words to our river's name as it was also a long Native American name with the same number of syllables. So it fit perfectly. The US is so full of rivers, lakes, and long ocean coastlines. So many of us grew up "on the water" as we say, spending summers/weekends/holidays enjoying our favorite warm weather activities. So many of us over here have a spot like this where we grew up playing as a child, then raised heck at in our teens and young adulthood, and then finally had our own kids & families that we now bring there. It's a tradition for many of us. This song is about having fun, being carefree, and just a little bit rebellious...and the things you learn from those experiences growing up. So everybody (from all generations) can relate to this song in that way, even decades later...and even if they didn't grow up on the Hooch or any other waterway. Wherever their "spot" is, this song will likely remind them of it and all the good times they had there! New to the channel, and loving it already! I've subscribed and can't wait to watch all your videos old and new!
One of my favorites growing up I remember playing his cassette tapes in my pickup truck when I was 16 17 years old in the mid-90s. A great great artist with tons of great songs!
I drove around with an awesome Alan Jackson CASSETTE in my car, for years!! Best concert I ever attended ...was an outdoor event in Alabama (way down south), staring Alan Jackson AND Brooks & Dunn!! All great singers and entertainers that dominated Country music of (yep) the 90's! So fun to get your reaction!!
I grew up near the Chattahoochee in Georgia! I remember playing this song, on a boom box, while on the river, with friends, lol!!! Oh, thanks for this one! Great memories, of great times, and GREAT FRIENDS!
Such a fun song and always smile when hearing it! Here in the Real World, Remember When, Chasin that Neon Rainbow, Wanted, Midnight in Montgomery, etc. So many great songs to check out by Mr. Jackson.
Obviously one of his more fun songs. This was played massively at bars, taverns, the radio etc. It's a river that starts in the southern Appalachian Mountains, in Georgia to the Georgia/ Florida border. We are littered with water ways over hear, including Pennsylvania where I am. It's always a great being on the water.
He's from Newnan Georgia, I used to live on the Chattahoochee, we'd go tubing behind our boat's, loved your reaction, hope you and your family have a blessed evening 🙏
Another one of my favorite fun songs of Alan Jackson that is hilarious is the One called "I Don't Even Know Your Name". And it has Jeff Foxworthy the southern comedian in it. And he makes this video even more hilarious. You have GOT to see this. It will have you laughing all the way through.
The Chattahoochee and Flint rivers come to the junctions of the Georgia, Alabama and Florida state lines to form Lake Seminole. From the dam there is now the Apalachicola River that flows down to the Gulf of Mexico. I lived in the town of Chattahoochee, home of the famous state mental hospital for Florida.
Love this song...makes me want to go water-skiing but I would probably break a hip...been a very long time! This is one of Alan's best songs...automatic smiles! Craig...keep expecting you to get up and dance during a song like this!! Do we have that to look forward to?!
Allan Jackson is fantastic. Check out his version of Summertime Blues. He and Leanne Womack do a great version of Golden Ring originally done by Tammy Wynette and George Jones.
Great reaction! This was the first song I ever heard of Alan Jackson and what an amazing journey over the years his music has given us. As others have mentioned, Don't Rock the Jukebox is another good one and really, any of his songs. Keep those toes a tappin and the great reactions coming!
I spent a good bit of my young adulthood playing on that river and the big lake it fed into in Northeast Georgia. I get a kick out of the water skiing scenes, it brings memories of watching my husband slalom ski . Those were fun times. His songs are all over the place for emotions. He has such a rabbit hole to explore.
You chose a great artist as a favorite! So, so many good songs by him. I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions. I would have to list at least 20 songs just for starters. 😄 Love your reaction.
Just a great toe tapper. Alan has such a great energy in this song. It's the apityme of a great country song. Great instruments and the video very amusing. Fiddles are beautiful. Great reaction Craig. EÈEEEEEEeeeeeeHAWWWWWW Cheers from Canada. 🇨🇦
I really really love seeing your genuine reactions to all of the 90s country! Man, it makes me nostalgic for childhood, hanging out with my boom box listening to country music in the summertime. I dated myself by saying “Boom box” 😆
Grew up in the river. Unfortunately it's too polluted to have that kind of fun anymore. So many municipalities have dumped so much crap in it to swim anymore. Look up videos of the Chattahoochee Rambling River Raft Race. Tens of thousands of folks packed the river during the 70's.
Trace Adkins - "Ladies Love Country Boys", " Every Light in the House is On", "Hillbilly Bone" with Blake Shelton, "I Left Something Turned On at Home". 💗💗💗
One of my favourite Alan Jackson song I like is "Jim, Jack, & Hank" , I do an question for anyone who likes Granger Smith and is Apart of the Yee Yee nation can anyone see Granger Smith doing a video like this for his Yee Yee day ?
My 32 year old grandson absolutely loved this song when it was out when he was about 4 years old. When I was driving him home, I always had to turn it up. He called it the hoochie song.
My Aunt & family have lived in Newnan, GA since the early 80s. That's the town Jsckson hails from...about 40 miles SW of ATL. I lived in ATL 3x. Vince Gill, Travis Tritt & Trisha Yearwood are all from GA; Trisha only one not from/living in metro ATL area. As the poster below was saying. It runs through ATL and when people are kayaking or whatever - not rapids - they call it "shoot the hooch." My family lived much closer to the city prior, College Park - that part of my ATL family anyway. Since you are expanding - you may want to check out Nirvana Unplugged's "Where Did You Sleep Last Night." Crazy vocals at the end. Song from around 1850s they think. One word has been changed. There is another version Dolly & others did where most of the lyrics were changed. In this case, I suggest Nirvana's live Unplugged version. Has a more old folklore vibe. Have a nice weekend.
My favorite songs by the icon Alan Jackson are Remember When, Livin’ on Love, Where Were You, Small Town Southern Man, I’ll Try, Here in the Real World, Drive, She’s Got the Rhythm, The Older I Get, Monday Morning Church, and I Can't Do That Anymore (recorded by Faith Hill).
I grew up in Atlanta and spent many a day trout fishing, and partying on the river. The great raft race was the best thing ever ! He's a Georgia boy so I'm pretty sure he wrote it.
ruclips.net/video/PSROm-vgVRk/видео.html This one is from 13 years ago. "Good Time" A happier time with upbeat dancing music. Alan Jackson set a new record for the world's longest line dance. This is really amazing!
The Chattahoochee is a river in Georgia, USA. I grew up about 5 miles from the same place Alan grew up. Lots of great memories!!
Grew up on Lake Eufaula, Alabama. The Chattahoochee dammed up! Great time there
Me too! I was raised in Forest Park!
I was raised in the Phenix City area. Camped below Goatrock Dam since the early seventies until they closed the camping area. Many great memories on that muddy river.
Grew up in Ft. Benning and Conyers. Go Dawgs!!

Another really fun one is, Having a good time. He actually broke a Guinness book of records for the longest line dance. So good!
Would have loved to be a part of that!
Me too !
Awesome

One of the best. Love all Alan does.
I lived in an apartment overlooking the Chattahoochee a couple years ago. And it is muddy. And it does get hotter than hades down here.
I lived on the banks of the Chattahoochee too back in the late 80s. The apartment was off Power's Ferry road. I wonder if it was the same apt complex?
More Alan Jackson: "She's got the rhythm (and I got the blues), "Mercury Blues", "Don't rock the jukebox", "Chasin' that neon rainbow", "Summertime blues", "Little Bitty", "I don't even know your name"
One of my all time favorite AJ songs. Just so much funn in it.
Alan Jackson’s Midnight In Montgomery is incredible!
My greatest memory of this song... My son as a toddler singing very loudly "Way down yonder on the Catapoochie"! (He's 30 now!) I have a VCR tape with him singing it!!! He's embarrassed by it now, but I love it!!!

You have to listen to "Murder on Music Row". Alan and George Straight singing about the sad state of country music
Craig Morgan's "Redneck Yacht Club" is a fantastically fun summertime song, as well. 😁
That song was my favourite for about 10 years! 🤟 What a summer vibe!
Every record was a hit!
My favorite Alan Jackson song is Midnight in Montgomery, which is about Hank Williams Sr. Just love that song!

You’re right ! It’s a river!
This was the song that made me fall in love with AJ👍🏻
Another fun song by him is I Didn't Even Know Her Name.
The lyrics on that crack me up 😅
Alan Jackson said that sometimes the waterskier was him and sometimes it was the stuntman but no one was always sure who was who in the footage.
Anyone else from the south still laughs when he says grabbing a burger and a grape snow cone?
.. I am, though I'm not from the south, sadly..
@@aingealtara1479 Hey as long as you understand what's he's saying, we gladly accept you lol

These songs are the life stories of people in the south. I could pick friends out of a hat and they would have these stories lol
...and yet, this is how a lot of us grew up in the South. Just having fun, no complications.
The Hooch. One of those rivers that you don't want to get in once it gets to metro Atlanta.

This is when every female country music fan had a giant crush on him. 🤣
The most important thing is never getting caught
You need to watch one of his older songs, Wanted and also Randy Travis, I thought he walked on water ❤️❤️❤️
I learned how to water ski on the Chattahoochee River
Wonderful song from Alan. I'd like to recommend "She's Got the Rhythm and I Got the Blues '.
Great Star love Alan.
In the states, kids are born knowing this song! In the midwest anyway.....
It is a river that runs through Georgia.
Yes, it was written by Jim McBride and Alan Jackson. Always a fun one to listen to and watch and even more so, watching the joy on your face.
