While Tom Morello may be a gifted guitarist, he (too) often just generates noise along the beat. Just like in this vid, it's (for my taste) too much screech and yelling (don't know other words for it in english). Ed would have played the solo(s) far more melodic. Just my 2 cents though.

Tom said he had to learn over two hundred and fifty songs when he went on tour with Bruce and the band, he said Bruce is like a human jukebox if he played a song in a bar in 1972 and he decides to play it today he’s got it that’s very impressive damn
In an interview Tom said that Bruce would just point at a sign someone is holding up and count to three and then started to play. He saw the sign, thought to himself "well, I might have heard that song once, like 20 years ago" and then had to try to remember the song, while he tried to play it.
@luke5100 Jake Clemons and Tom Morello are the greatest additions to the E Street band since their inception, Jake is such an incredible talent and what a blessing for Bruce and to all of us who once enjoyed going to a Springsteen show and Tom Is my favorite guitarist ever and for him to be part of the e street is fucking cool to the highest point. You are so right about him and when I saw Bruce and Tom perform clampdown together it was just everything you would want from a Springsteen show and so much more, I miss the Bruce I believed in and how his music always got me through and I will always appreciate my time with everything Bruce but we all change and our views sometimes blind us god bless brother

Max, well one of the greatest drummers of all time - so underarated. Patti looks magnificent. Class. The best. So grateful born in their lifetime. Enormous gratitude.

This song was part of a free concert in Dallas when the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four was played nearby in Arlington, TX. I would've gone but I was sick. The whole show was livestreamed on RUclips, though, and I watched it.
Tom is great, but he's NOTHING like EVH as a player. Completely different styles. I doubt he chose to play this song, he was probably thrown into it by Bruce and the band, so he had to do something vaguely Van Halen-esque, and it wasn't awful.
Is it a coincidence that Bruce's intro yowl is a major 6th above the tonic? At 3:44 "come on lemme hear you" rises to the minor 7th! This is another reason why he is the boss.
