a trin ash collab talking about barbie this actually feels like a dream i had and became reality and im so grateful for that
the first time i saw barbie my initial thought was to change how they ended it. i think the scene with barbie and ruth in the white room and the montage should've been the final scene of the actual movie. its beautiful and emotional and so raw and i think it was the perfect ending. then roll some main credits on black screen with the what was i made for instrumental playing. then have the scene with the gynecologist as a mid credit scene for a bonus clip and a laugh, then roll full end credits with barbie world playing.

I think it comes from Ryan Gosling being the greatest person on the cast hitting the comedic lines. And also Greta Gerwig focusing the story too much on him
Since Greta said Barbie's story represents how girls grow up and start to fell doubtful of what they are worth, I feel like Ken represents how Boys will grow up, try to fit into this mold of what a man should be and slowly follow that red pill/andrew tate bs and follow those ideologies to cope with their own insecurities. So the people saying this movie was anti men, are truly stupid.
I feel like it's so ironic bc the point of barbie was literally to focus on the experience of being a woman and everyone turned it into to "HAHA KEN IS FUNNY"

Barbie kind of reminded me of a French film called :"Je ne suis pas un homme facile"(or "i'm not an easy man"). Where a stereotypical sexist man hits his head and enters a universe where social norms around man and women are flipt. And he tries to speak up for mens rights in that universe.

The way I see the timeline of Barbieland is it’s basically anytime they’re in Barbieland/Kendom it’s through the eyes/perspective of a child playing with the dolls, so things don’t necessarily work the same. It’s all very exaggerated and that’s why the Kendom feels like a little brother coming and overthrowing your barbie dreamhouse with his monster trucks
Exactly! That's how I interpreted as well. When children play with toys, time is not a factor. Things just happen. Forget a few days, over throwing a government can happen within a few minutes. It doesn't have to obey the laws of reality.
I get where you coming from. As a straight dude, I gained a lot from the ken plot as I stand for the message that "there is more to being a guy then just other ppl's validation, find yourself first" but I do also feel it didn't need to be a whole half of the movie. Like can we talk about why the mom and daughter's relationship is so strained please 🙏🏽
But overall I love the movie, even as a leftist feminist, it showed me issues that I didn't even know about. It helped me check my privileges and look into how I can help the people around me better

The moment that made me cry the most was the reveal that America was the one who needed Barbie and the memories of her playing with Barbie’s with her daughter. I think that spoke to me the most because I am a college student but honestly if I still had Barbie’s I would love to play with them and I just long to be as creative and carefree as I once was when playing Barbies. I just felt so much nostalgia and relatability within America Ferrari’s character and I am nowhere near motherhood but it was her struggles outside of motherhood that connected with me the most

I LOVED the Ken parts of the story, I think Ryan Gosling was soooo iconic. However, the parts that made me cry were America Ferrera. Ryan Gosling gave me laughs. America gave me tears and like what the movie was actually about. She was the heart of the movie and I would’ve loved to see more of her cuz honestly she got underused and sidelined. Also Barbie’s progression into wanting to be human came a little out of nowhere even if the whole movie set it up, it still don’t feel like enough and there was just so much more they could’ve done with Barbie and America and Sasha
