- How often do you shower or wash your body? Chances are, you probably bathe too much! Bathing every day strips the body and hair of natural oils, and it dries out the skin. Trace washes away some myths and explains why showering too often could be bad for your skin and your health.

Oh, damn. So, hot shower is bad for health, too? What's next? Everything I like is bad for health. Potato chips are bad, burnt meat is bad, now shower...
Jeong-hun Sin yeah like what the fuck man
Living is bad for your health. You guys gotta stop living, according to 'scientists'. Sux bruh.
Jeong-hun Sin turns out having sex with nice ladies that have sex for money is also bad for health...
Burn meat is not bad, they were talking out of their ass. We have 200k years of evolution that says they are hipster morons that easily fall for the P hacking we call research studies today.
Shower with cold water. Also, have you ever tried Dove soap? I really like that soap.
I go to the gym 6 days a week. There's no way I could only shower once a week with all the sweat and salty skin.
RotaryPerfection same here
Salty skin? Wtf?
Dick twice a day And chill plus Reptilian Hunter....
So let me get this straight. Your gonna "WTF" my comment about salty skin while you make out with your dog???????????? I guess you've never had sweat dribble onto your lips?
depends on how active you are as well, so in your case it does make sense for you to shower that much. I shower pretty much every day, but if I'm gonna be in my house all day, I am gonna give my skin a break, it does need a break
MusicloverX88 I shower 3/4/5 times a week or everyday
If I go longer than 2 days without a shower I am not pleasant to smell.
true, and my face would go all oily
maybe u want to check out what you are eating
Definitely check out what you're eating. If your face, hair etc get all oily then there is something up with your diet. 2 days should be no problem at all. You shouldn't start to see any problem until 3-4 days. A good amount for anyone is probably 2-3 times a week. Any more than that is OCD or you have some kind of diet problem causing oil/odour issues.
Eh, I enjoy showering and the stuff I eat.
+loot6 nasty azz hell! Kids can go longer than 2 days but adults shouldn't go that long if possible. Dead skin cells...dirt and funk start accumulating and should be rinsed off. Not to mention when you taking number 2's that toilet paper is not gonna clean yo azz 100%. Unless I'm on a road trip there is no way a grown person should be walking around with a week worth of funk!
i only shower when it rains
Lmao
+That Guy Who Camps Good luck living in California until recently...
+That Guy Who Camps Lemme guess you live in the Sahara desert.
If you live here in the UK, that would be every day.
Um...are you homeless or something
I shower every morning only because if I don't my head will get itchy through out the day.
I... I'm not alone?
***** We shall stand together mi brothers!for i will lead you to victory!
He's right at the end, you can wash your pits and groin area, and be good as new.
When I didn't have school, I don't shower much. (Once every 3 days.) Why? I barely move, therefore I hardly sweat at all.
*don't
hahaha same! sometimes i wouldn't even brush my teeth.
kvega30 I normally brush my teeth twice a day during the week, but I admittedly take a break during the weekends.
Devil Child lmao take a break, you say it likes its the hardest part of your day
kvega30 I honestly have a tendency to forget things, no matter how important, quite often. Not to mention that I recently lost a baby tooth. A BABY TOOTH. At 16 years of age. My body's own derpy tendencies make me facepalm.
Minimum one shower a day...particularly in the morning, it's an important part of my wake up ritual. Without it, I do not feel right at all. If I workout, I need to shower too, no one wants to go to bed all sticky and sweaty.
did you read my mind...
i do it in the evening. saves me the time.
Sweat dries and falls off your body though. He also listed other practical ways to remove odor and even clean yourself without showering. A waste of water and more harm to your skin,m9.
kray97 for me its once a day. After workout and before i sleep. I agree no one wants to sleep while being sweaty
That's correct. They sticky and sweaty should start after you get into bed
{Cue the 70s porn music}
I'm going to keep taking a shower every day because I don't like feeling like a greasy hipster.
hhahaha same!!!
y'all need to get over your prejudice.
I'm showering every day regardless.
Skin have layers, Onions have layers. Ye get it we both have layers.
+Jyson AW i know right
+MrPedro5004 that sounds like the scene in shrek
And most of these people who aren’t regularly showering literally smell like onions
If i don't wash my hair atleast every 2 days my hair will look like i aint washed it in 3 weeks.
temp979 wait so shampoo is useless?
Perhaps good for freshness in the short term, definitely not good in the (not even that) long term
***** I'm gonna not wash my hair for 4 days then see how I go thanks for the info very helpful
Awesomeham343 If you put no product in your hair and don't live in a humid climate, perhaps.
Additionally, if you have dandruff or need other specialty treatment, water will alone will not be sufficient.
YOU'RE A WIZARD HARRY
My skins too oily to even go a day without showering ): I feel gross without a shower!!
Your body might be trying to overcompensate for all the oils you strip away from it daily.
Though skin is complicated, so don't take my word for it.
I have the same problem it feels like butter was rubbed on my face by the next morning. though you can just rinse your face with water o3o
Phinx Zaragraph I usually use lotion right after my bath which is every night so even then my showers are so far apart my skin shouldnt be so oily >.< I hate the feeling of being oily so that's probably why people shower a lot too xD I just shower once a day
same except for when I know I am not going anywhere on weekends. Then i just let the oils build up to nurture my hair. By the end of the weekend or two days the least. My hair looks like I haven't showered in weeks.
I feel the same
i feel disgusting if i dont take a shower for a day
Gracy Toy Schultz same
I haven't showered or bathed in 2 years. I also have no friends and family...
brian kelly lol I'm dead
brian kelly 😂😂😂😂😂
brian kelly no wonder
That's why!!
Well it sucks to be you!
Here in Africa you have to shower 2 times a day, once in the morning and during the evening before bed. The heat here is intense so there's frequent sweating, when you shower less than 2 times a day people start to notice your smell, and even if you say you put a fragrance, you cant stay comfortable with all that mucky oil and saltiness in your body...so it depends on conditions. And in cold places it's better to shower at least once a day, otherwise for people with oily skin they will develop skin diseases.
Dan Abih i agree
where in africa tho?
Dear fellow brown people, please disregard this video completely. We still need to shower twice a day to not be a biohazard for others.
I shower every day and im on a 3 year streak of not getting sick
ikr? I have to shower daily, i cant understand all these people
Marshingo you dont have to... 99% of all humans didnt shower daily...
i shower everyday too its been over 20 years as far i remember lol. i don't get sick too often either
Unknown Gamer But i do
It depends on your body and how well your immune system is. Generally being to clean weakens your immune system due to lack of exposure.
Half the time when I take a shower, it's not even to get clean. I just like hot water.
SOMEONE WHO FINALLY UNDERSTANDS ME.
Yes, it's cold every day in the uk so i need a hot shower all the time
***** You guys have no idea, Norway is way worse than both UK and Denmark combined :)
***** Wow.
It's actually not that cold where I live. Well, it is. But only during the winter. It gets SUPER fuckin' hot suring the summer.
Who gives a crap about showering everyday? I've always thought that's excessive and most people lie when they say that they shower everyday.
I shower twice a day lol. Feel gross if I don't.
+DudeMyShoe i shower twice a day if i shower in the morning and workout in the late evening. i can't go to bed sweaty.. that's just all kinds of fucked up
+DudeMyShoe rip
Orange just realized some people don't shower everyday.
Not me, I shower 2x/day..
I've been telling people this for years. If you don't do anything all day and your sweating and activity was kept to a minimal, why do you have to shower again that day? I can understand if you work in hot; strenous conditions or exercise, but otherwise your just wasting water.
Because its comfortable :)
I'm going to be honest, I usually shower every other day. I never understood why people think showering each day is necessary. You can go in the bathroom and wash the common areas with a washcloth. It's not like an arm or leg is going to smell bad if soap and water doesn't hit it.
Utonium Ph. D. Wow that was so mean
I FUCKING KNEW IT! I only shower when I need too, and my parents are like, you need to shower everyday, or at least every other day. And I'm like why are you complaining, first I don't stink, and second I'm saving you money. And now that I know this it's just all the more complete!
Thank you, and it's Zero from Vampire Knight. He's my favorite character, I so shipped Yuki with Zero and NOT Yuki with Kanami. The ending was an upset. Oh well, it was a good series while it lasted none the less.
Emily Xu
And I also like your icon, I believe I've seen the anime but I forgot what anime it was and what the character's name was. You know, after watching hundreds of animes you eventually lose track of the names and anime characters from time to time. And as far as your comment about Vampire Knight, I've always liked Zero, and I somewhat liked Kanami but I knew something was weird about him, and in the end when I found out that Kanami was Yuki's brother, I was like I KNEW IT! But Zero got friend zoned so hard and I wanted to cry for him. Ya Know?
Emily Xu I knew it, yes, I have seen that anime. And as far as the spelling goes, I knew it was wrong, but I was to lazy to look it up so I just figure "Eh.... Good Enough" I mean you still understood what I was saying. And to whom I was refering too. XD
Emily Xu >.< I'm eating a REALLY REALLY sour candy right now...... Owww my cheeks hurt.
I shower like 2 times a month cause you know we need to save water and these assholes are wasting gallons a day
I've always showered about twice a week. My hair comes from a long line of Portuguese and wll turn into a total fluffball if exposed to intense humidity any more than that.
If I notice I smell, I'll wipe down with baby wipes, just like you said, and put perfume on. I've never had problems with people telling me I smell, and it saves a good hour each day, making more room for studying and hanging out!
nasty...
***** what the hell does you scrubbing down in ten mins have to do with someone washing their body twice a week?
Try putting on a shower cap 👍👍👍
***** If you don't work out, or work in a nasty environment, you can actually do it without smelling. Your body has natural oils on your skin that protects you from odor and cleans you in a way similar to how your mouth or vagina cleans itself, but on a much slower and micro scale. If you shower you wash all that away and reset your body. Something you should do to keep hygienic, but the more it resets, the less effective it becomes. If you allow this process to work it's course the odor will subside while your body balances the skins chemicals. Again, as the video states, everyone is different, and with different climates and everyone having a different biology, some people are more susceptible to BO and greasy skin. You may just be one of those people that would smell if not bathing regularly. Still, showering twice a week is the minimum anyone should shower, and that's only if they don't have BO, don't sweat excessively, and are somewhat sedentary.
Monroe Madison You are seem belligerent, disgruntled, bitter, and sleazy.
You're also my favorite person on RUclips this year. Congrats.
I shower everyday unless I'm sick or the weather is too cold.
I don't shower very much because I'm lazy, this video just makes me feel better about not doing it.
I'm on the same boat as you
***** HOW? Sorry, but I'm curious. How is that possible? Don't you go outside? Oo
Farner Vanzant
Some people only go outside when its absolutely necessary. Pay bills, grocery shopping, other important subjects.
Yeah, I guess so. But it's really strange for me too, to know such things. 6 months is a LOT of time :)
Stink, Go Shower!!
I used to think I could never go longer than once every other day without a shower. Then Hurricane Sandy hit, and I was left without power for over two weeks. My water came back on after one week, but it was freezing cold (it was November, after all) and I had no way to heat it. In that time, I learned to give myself quick "sponge baths" with a wash cloth whenever I felt dirty, but I also learned that when you're really cold every day, you actually don't feel too dirty. Ever since then, I've only showered once maybe every few days, sometimes only once a week. I have to say, my hair has never been softer and my skin looks younger!
some people work 10+ hours a day . Daily showers required.
Doesn't showering too often also wear out the skin and make it age faster?
As a kid I use to shower once a week, I always found it weird when people showered every day. Now that I have hit puberty I have to shower at least every other day otherwise I drench of sweat and have really greasy hair. I wish I was a kid again
Same here :/
try changing your diet to more vegetarian food, it should lower the smell, as for the greasy hair its natural, if your smoker that contributes to the smell of your sweat and the greasiness of you hair.
Hobypyrocom
bro ive been vegetarian for a while... if i go 12 hours without a shower i begin to STINK.... its really an individual thing... im sure there are a lot of factors besides just diet.
Jose Valdez
yeah true, but the smell of vegetarian and meat eating person is different. you are what you eat, so you smell like your food :)
Hobypyrocom Typical become-a-vegetarian-it-will-fix-all-your-problems fairy tale. When I honestly tried, I had constant diarrhea, I could not sleep, farted like crazy and smelled like rotten corn ... for a month. And the food quality was very good, since I lived with my sister and she ate the same and she was great. After one month I started eating meat again, and all went away.
Now it is not to say vegetarian diet is not good (as just said, my sister loved it), but just as as word of caution since it is simply not for all people.
I knew it! everyone was against me but i knew it!!!
I shower every morning, because I sweat like a madman while I sleep
+Chandler Campbell lol what're you dreaming about in that head of yours
sleep in colder room mate
Matti the OG Gamer I cant, I share a room with my 2 brothers.
+Chandler Campbell You may benefit from cooler water and using less soap. Maybe use an organic soap and filtered water too.
@@chandlercampbell3356 8 Years later I'm going to suggest a bed jet.
Given my job daily showering is required, but I've recently switched to baking soda rather than harsh soaps and shampoos. My skin and hair feel much healthier.
baking soda is a miracle cure for everything. (teeth whitening/brushing) and taking stains of clothes. and so much more.
Oh, baking soda is for showering? Crap...
But... I can't help but shower everyday. I'll feel icky then.
What about showering for mental health?
After coming home from a long day of work and school, I don't feel particularly dirty, but I shower anyway because it's a way to wash off the day, if you will. I just feel better mentally after getting out of the shower at night.
then make sure to moisturize a lot after getting out, all over.
+Hetty L You are beautiful!
Ah, like me and my "washing off the sleep"-showers. :) Well, those showers you can do without soap or hot water?
Can't find the edit-button, that ? Was supposed to be a !
for those with eczema who are having troubles "controlling" it, washing too often make it worst, i used too have a big problem with that, but i started experimenting and i haven't had a rash in almost 3 years!!!
I shower every day, but like on weekends when I'm feeling lazy I might not shower unless I know I'm going out. But, when I miss a day of showering, I feel kinda icky.
Exactly the same as me. This seems to work out the best for most people.
Before I had a full time job I fully showered like three-four times a week because I nearly never sweated. But skipping the shower for every day you're busy feels icky indeed.
Marco Waning
This happens because you've stripped the oils from your skin, and your skin is overproducing the oils to try and make up for all the nutrients you've stripped away. It's essentially like setting a leaf-less plant in the sun, and every time a leaf starts to form you rip it off, and that's why it's a good idea to moisturize your body if you do shower daily.
For the first month this may cause acne around the face as the body will think it's a foreign substance, but once the body has time to realize that these are natural oils the body needs, you'll return to a much healthier state of being.
Goddammit... Now everyone who smells really bad (i.e. those that don't take many showers) has an excuse. THANKS A LOT DNews, now what am i gonna do? My nose has suffered enough
it's actually not your nose that suffers. It's your brain
I didn't say "go around stinking up the place," I said you can manage your cleanliness without dousing yourself in soap and water. I'm not a fan of having to smell other people, and unfortunately for some, the United States is very much about smell-control. The social pressure to control body odor isn't affected by how much you shower, it's about how much you clean your smelly bits! There's more than one way to keep clean AntiSoraXVI, dabbmundur, and labobo. On a related note, pretty sure the people who would use this RUclips video as an excuse to not shower were already not showering. -- Trace
I didn't really mean for my comment to be so serious, but too much of anything is bad so I can agree to that most people think that more showers equate to how clean they are when it is more quality than quantity (two mottoes in one comment. I'm on a roll)
AntiSoraXVI I'd like to point out that not even 50 years ago, a weekly to monthly bath was the norm. Daily baths are a VERY modern thing.
And if everyone smelled natural instead of like crappy perfumes all the time, we'd be used to it, the normal human smell wouldn't be so offending to us.
dabbmundur No it's the nose.
Besides becoming clean, showering helps me wake up in the morning to go to work.
Exactly. Is the first thing I do in the morn, except on my off days. Then I usually bs around until early afternoon before I get clean.
For all the guys sitting in your cool temperate climate zones...try coming a little closer to the equator and stay for a day or two without showering. You'll understand then ;)
Shower day is the worst day of the year IMHO.
Im forced to shower every morning ON A SCHOOL DAY, but on the weekend i dont shower because i stay in my room all day and watch youtube videos lol
***** Omg XD
thats the way to live
That's normally my strategy. Not leaving the house? Save on water and heating and time.
Skunk
If your skin feels tight after a shower, then you're probably using the wrong soap.
That too. I recently had the opportunity to try Dove. omg.
Not true
Water is becoming more and more scarce. We have to start considering that resources are not unlimited
the water you shower with doesn't vanish it just goes into the drain and can be cleaned and reused xD
Our planet is mostly covered in water, there are places in the world where it rains nearly every day. The existence of water is not the problem but rather it is people that move to where water is in short supply and feel the desire to create many green golf courses in the desert.
u can also convert salt water into drinkable water.. kinda unlimited when u consider that.. and the fact that scientists have the power to turn fecal matter into drinkable water
While that is true, these processes are incredibly expensive and hard to do on a large enough scale to support entire cities and countries. It would be better if we as a species start becoming more concious of our clean water consumption.
Its just not an excuse to not shower everyday
I shower every 3 days. Is that good?
I do too!!
I do not think so
JesseRoxII I think that is plenty. I do not know why people think you are dirty unless you shower twice a day. IDIOTS. how dirty can a person get in 3 days? I shower (or strip wash) once a month. I don't get dirty or smelly.
Rosie Shaw Ewwww. I agree with u that we don't have to shower twice a day but at LEAST shower couple times a week!!! I am sure u get dirty and smelly by time.Sorry but that is disgusting
Haidy Elbassiouny
I don't get smelly or dirty but you're right. I have started bathing more often now, 3 times a week.
HA! My mother was wrong! "Shower everyday" she said "You'll be healthy" she said!
if I don't shower for more than a day, I smell very bad and feel very bad and my head hair itches and hair is very oily.
Well I live in a tropical country here in Southeast Asia where it is 32℃ every single day and humid as hell. It's hard not to shower multiple times a day if you are sweating almost constantly
Sweat in itself doesn't have odor, it's the stuff that also comes out with sweat that causes the odor. Drink more water so that it gets diluted. More water = higher proportion of water in comparison to the rest of the stuff and also healthier.
feel ya m8
Yup…
This person did not mention odor, just sweating. I myself like to not be sweaty, odorous or otherwise.
use hand lotion in your hair it will help with the frizz
I normally shower once, maybe twice per week. I have excema, so showering too much actually causes it to flare up. My skin and hair have never looked better. I've been doing this routine for about 4 years now and I never smell. So if you aren't doing it because you are afraid you'll smell, chances are, you won't. I mean unless you are just a naturally smelly person to begin with for whatever reason (which can be totally normal) you should be fine
I have it too, just use lotion.
xTheFutureOfGamingx that can make it get even worse; i have the same condition
Where can i find girls like you ^^
Myself i like to be clean and smell fresh but i hate it when girls smell like perfume without a trace of their natural smell ;) Yes i'm a pervert :P
Try using the body shops Shea Butter body butter. It really helped my excema
Mynameis Arina I will definitely talk to my endocrinologist about that :)
I showered 78 times in 2012. And 52 times in 2013. My skin is less oily now and I don't have BO any more.
If I don't shower every day my hair becomes a greasy mop and I start breaking out, and I start to get rather aromatic... plus I just feel nasty. I think I'll keep up with the regular hygiene.
What they're saying is your greasy mop and break outs are a result of you showering daily. Think of it as withdraw symptoms. It's like saying "whenever I stop using heroin I feel sick, so I'm just gonna keep doing heroin."(yes, I know it's an extreme analogy, but get my point?)
Adam Hollingsworth
That isn't what they were saying at all. They never said anything about your skin becoming accustomed to showering, they were saying your skin would benefit from not showering as often.
For years, I've only showered about 2-3 times a week, usually. It's always worked for me and it reduces my environmental footprint at least slightly. I think people who shower multiple times a day are a bit nutty. I can understand if they've had a really hard workout and are all sweaty, but otherwise, shouldn't once a day or less be enough? Especially when we have wonderful things like deodorant, perfume, and dry shampoo.
In terms of my hair, it will usually last about 3-4 days before it's noticeably oily, which isn't bad I guess. All these people who say they don't ever shampoo or only do it once a month, I don't know what the hell kind of alien hair they have, but it's not natural! lol
Because deodorant and perfume aren't more nasty for the environment than a quick shower every day ? I know the comment is old but wow
finally someone that uses her mind... Everyone thinking that not showering every day is nasty... It's not but yea... i shower 2 to 3 times a week
Oh god, I don't know if I couldn't shower once a day. I just feel gross if I don't, even though I'm not dirty. Will try it on the weekend when I don't have Any classes though.
No, no, no!! I would never consider bathing less than my normal routine, which is once every day. Everything you just listed are good points, but that is why I have my water temperature at the point where it's not hot, but it's not cold. I use Dove body wash, which does not leave my skin with that tight, dry feeling. I wash my hair every day, with Dove shampoo and conditioner, and my hair is super shiny and silky. As you can tell, I swear by Dove products.
Ikr you sound just like me! Everyone says my hair is like silk, and i shower everyday! God
did Dove pay you for this comment?
XMcEvilson Not at all. It's my own personal experience and love for the product. ^_^
Axe is better!
TheRandomguy06 its the same company....
I actually like to shower once a day
***** Screw science i have money
Screw respect I have money!
WIthout money you wouldn't communicate with me
How much did it to buy the computer, router, internet, ect?
Cheapskate!
I went two weeks without showering as apart of an experiment for a documentary I am currently creating. It was a wonderful experience to go so long without bathing. Though I didn't shower, I still cleaned important areas such as underarms, hands, face, genitals, and butt. It made me realize there is an important difference between having good hygiene and showering.
Savolia Spottswood Truth! There are many people who will shower, but not necessarily be hygienic. I skip showers when I can (not on gym days), and my hair and skin feel better for it.
Try and stay in a humid country like Malaysia and you know you have to shower multiple times a day. You are welcome.
BY GOD! They stated their sources! My prayers have been answered. Thank you.
P.S. Not actually religious simply making jokes.
Of course though it is harder for people like myself not to shower every day. I live on a farm, so every day is ended drenched in sweat, and covered in dirt. Pretty cool though!
You should shower in room temp or cooler water then if you want to not weaken your skin then according to this vid.
i dont get how people shower everyday. i have gone 2 weeks without showering and NOBODY was able to tell or smell the difference. Although i usually only shower like twice a week atleast. Plus i dont have time to shower everyday and it wastes water
You must not have any facial hair. Cause you can only get away with that if you don't have facial hair or else you gonna be walking around with razor bumps.
Same except my parents dont care about wasting water
Xtra TV right I don't shower that often
Xtra TV visit any Equatorial nation for a month and you'll understand why it's necessary to shower every day. It's veeeerrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy important you do.
You don't really know if nobody could tell, maybe they were just ignoring it. After all, friends and family may not want to hurt your feelings and strangers may just think this is your smell normally.
I need to shower everyday, if I don't then I start to feel very gross. I'd gladly let my skin dry out if it means I feel nice and clean.
This is exactly how I feel. I literally feel dirty and disgusting if I don't shower even for one day.
TheCostcosaurus
Do realize that that's behaviour you were taught, and since you linked "not showering" with" disgusting" you're obviously going to feel icky when you miss a day. Why not just try it anyway? Scared? ;)
Demoras No, I learned it on my own. When I don't shower I stink really bad, feel just plain awful, and my hair is all greasy and gross. I prefer to smell nice and have soft hair :p
Nemenon
Your hair gets greasy because you wash it often. To combat that your body is producing an excess amount of sebum, making your hair very greasy. So if you stop washing your hair, it will appear overly greasy in the beginning because that's how you've essentially trained your body.
Like in the video, you could otherwise use a washingcloth or baby wipes to clean yourself in off-days. That, or perhaps take a cold shower without using soap.
Demoras Eh, I think I'll just stick to showering once a day.
i shower once a year
+george washington smart as f@ck
You would've been dead then..... -.-
+george washington what thats crazy
+george washington really ? Duh
+george washington is that true that cant be
I shower to wake my ass up
bjaminstaples Gosh I couldn't do that when I first get up. I shower in the afternoon after I've had breakfast. I can't function before my breakfast!
+Rosie Shaw I don't eat breakfast
Gvidas Danielius
Oh then you haven't liiiivvvedd!
y'all acting as if you have never heard of lotion before.
Yeah lotion does help but that still doesn't change the fact the your skin is SUFFERING underneath.
Right, wash all natural skin protection off so you can apply lotion to rebuild the protection faster before you wash it off again so you can use lotion to rebuild.... all hail the cosmetic industry.
or just don't shower everyday and stink up the place with your oily ass skin "protection".
Joyce R
If you stink only from not showering, you should visit a physician. Somethings wrong with your body
Eis Geflüster lol bitch please. i am sure we all stink from not showering if we actually leave the house and do stuff throughout our day. the only difference is that people who stink almost always don't know that they do.
I only wash once every couple of days. Been told it is disgusting, but why is it? I only shower if a) my hair is real oily b) I feel very sweaty and c) If I feel that I have been out to very disgusting and dirty places or my body has got actual dirt on it. Otherwise I just get dressed and done for all the day!
Geez, I shower twice a week and everybody makes fun of me but making fun of a person because they wash once every couple of days is stupid, yet even though I don't really sweat that much since I don't really do sports they still say i'm disgusting when I smell just fine... well... most of the time...
michael wilding Michael, you are a moron. You must have really unhealthy skin. You're stripping it away of essential body oils are you are inclined to get sick more than we are. You're not human if you bathe like that. It depends if you are really sweaty and smell from all the bacteria on your body. If you don't stink and have not been doing something that necessary means you need to bathe, for example, being in a subway, playing in mud or dirt, or been around someone with a contagious illness. You're a sad little creature. If your vagina or dick smells all of the time, there is definitely something wrong with it.. It is a basic fact that we do NOT need to bathe everyday. Obviously you are naive to fact, and will stay in your little make-believe world, but that's okay, I am glad not to be you. Your dick must have something wrong with it if it stinks everyday.
Lol why are you mad?
michael wilding Well first things first, no I am not American, secondly, how would you know if I stink if I am not around you? Personally, it should not matter to you. It is obvious that you are not 65 due to the fact of how you're acting, and this is science talking in this video. I have two options for you here you either a) Learn to become a better troll or b) Go and do something better with your time.

18...Right, i'd like to see that...
What about only rinsing off in the shower? I like taking a shower every morning not to get clean necessarily but to get a nice steamy wakeup. If I only use soap every other day or two could I still take showers every day without damaging my skin too much?
There will be 3 types of situation :
-People who often shower : Yeah you might be right ... (but still shower often)
-People who regulary shower : Ok I'm good
-People who don't shower usually : YEAH I KNEW IT, I'M RIGHT !!
To conclude, none have changed their daily life ....
i think youre right xD
You are on point with that one!
Why are people so concerned with “dry skin”, if you’re going to smell so bad that no one is going to get near you to touch it?
The longest I ever skip is 1 day.
i shower once a day
but not because i wanna be clean... i just like showers
I don't care what this proves, but I'm still showering. I can't work out and sweat in my sleep...
I shower twice a day and am very happy like that. I hit the gym every morning, so that of course means I shower after my workout before I go to work....and when I get home from work after a whole day I do feel like taking a shower...thank God my girlfriend also showers twice a day...I cannot imagine how one can go a day without a shower.
👍👍
I actually just shower every other day esp on winter days. I don't usually sweat on winter so this works for me.
same here
All these issues explain why my hair and skin were shit when I was a lifeguard and swimming instructor, not to mention the amount of sicknesses I got with that job.
I have acne around my face, upper shoulders, chest and back. Not showering once a day exasperates my acne, however I can imagine how not showering could be beneficial if someone didn't have acne.
so true, i used to have horrid acne and tried everything i could to get rid of it, i was told to stop using any chemicals on face and see what happened. since then ( i was around 17 at the time) i have not used any soap of any kind on my face and have clear skin, took a few weeks for my skin to get balanced out after i stopped with the chemicals on my face, but totally worked. only water for my face now. the body knows whats going on, messing with it just messes things up.
Jay Dunbar
water is a chemical h20 man so your still using chemicals on your face
You have no idea.
you can put soap on the acne and let it dry up on the bumps, it will like disintegrate them or something like that, it works for me a little (do don't do it a lot because I forget) and my dad said it helps
Is it just me or when u have to shower u don't want to but when u get in the shower u don't want to get out
I usually shower like every other two days. Glad to know that I wasn't wrong, that it isn't necessary to bath everyday. Just seems like a waste of water, when you do it to often.
I shower every day. I don't wash my hair daily but I do shower. I always feel dirty when I don't. So maybe thats just me.
You're absolutely right
This week Trace attempts to justify his oily hair.
better than dry. his doesnt look bad. id prefer oily over dry anyway though lol
How does dry hair look like? Normal? Duh... I never had "too dry" hair nor they looked bad just because how dry they were.
Vioner its all thin and wispy. Stagnant, wind blows it all over easily, and just not healthy looking. While oily at least flows, its thick, has weight to it, easy to handle. Its a big difference
I guess it's a very individual thing. My hair are very dense/thick. They look terrible when getting oily. I need to wash them every morning. And about the wind - I'm a biker and I've been told that my hair looks the best after a ride - winds does my hair :D
I didn't think his hair looked oily at all. You obviously don't know that in the 50s and 60s men actually used hair "grease" or lots of glycerin (which makes the hair look oily) to keep it in place.
So... turns out I'm healthy?
+Explorer65 Fuck yeah bruh
cybersphere Lol. Btw nice cat ;)
+Explorer65 What's with the cat Profile Pictures?

no man, gross
I shower once I start to notice my own body odour or when my scalp starts to get itchy, usually it's every 3 or 4 days, give or take. I'm not a particularly stinky person (in fact, deodorant tends to make me smell WORSE after I start sweating), so I don't really notice any issues with this routine.
Sounds about like what I do. I approve of this system.
tried not showering for one day, it felt horribly uncomfortable and I smelt horrible. How on earth do you not shower everyday, everyone here showers at least twice a day.
Same
Azar Asgarov Are you a programmer? Beacouse only programmers use =! instead of =/= :)
If you really smell "horrible" after a day without showering, there is either something wrong with you or your living conditions aren't great.
Sorry kid. I'm not part of your made up "everyone here" demographic. I shower once a week and wipe/clean private areas during the week. I lightly apply on deodorant or body spray to go about my day. Wife doesn't complain about smell at all.
***** Singapore
I think it depends on wear you live to... If you live in a highly polluted area, like downtown Los Angeles, showering everyday would be essential. It doesn't take a lot of time for dirt to accumulate, & collect on your skin. I shower once a day, & that works for me. I do have to shampoo my hair everyday, or I get bad dandruff. Also, if you brush your hair multiple times, it usually brings out the natural oils. I also tend to get eczema on my face, if I don't take care of myself properly. However, 5-6 months, a friend sold me a bottle of doh terra coconut oil, which works great for me. She also gave me a vile w/ 3 drops of melaleuca (tea tree), & 2 drops of lavender. The rest of the vile was filled up w/ coconut oil.
Sounds like a woman rote this
I showered last night and I still feel a little gross after not showering again this morning. I don't know how anyone could go for days or weeks without showering. This video fails to mention face washing which - especially among teen humans - needs to be repeated several times a day to prevent acne. Even as an adult, I would soon be sporting a few zits if I did not wash my face with soap and hot water at least once a day.
Maybe thats the reason why you sport zits so fast?
DGPrepper Well if you feel gross something is wrong in your brains not with your body. Commercials forced us to thinking that showering every day is good. I am practicing sports every day but usually I shower with shampoo every 3-4 days and sometimes inbetween without shampoo if i think i dont need it. And nobody in class never told me that i stink, just my hairs are a bit more greasy
Acne seems to be more of a personal issue than a hygienic one. I have never had acne once and I shower roughly 4-5 times a week. Never my face. It just depends on your body and your pores. My whole family is this way. The occasional pimple every once in a while does not count as acne.
DGPrepper as a teen my face only got misted with water when I took a shower and I never had any acne. Now that I'm using face soap every time I shower I have zits popping up and a little acne on my forehead.
Same thing with shampoo. The more I shampooed my hair the oiler it got. These harsh soaps aren't doing our bodies any favors.
MoochiAndLovebug Anecdotal evidence for daily showering is not evidence against. I was never very careful about hygiene as a teen until the zits started popping up. It took a lot of trial and error to figure out that daily, hot, soapy scrubbing was required to eliminate the zits. So my anecdote contradicts your anecdote, which is why people aren't going to agree about this.
Once a week, and proud of it. I have always been a very slow showerer, so showering every day would become extremely time-consuming and a HUGE waste of water. When I do shower I'm very thorough, and I haven't received any complaints about odor so I guess my body isn't too bad. I suppose a quick pit-rub at other points in the week couldn't hurt, though.
***** I'm glad we'll never meet.
I do the that too and no one notices any problems with body odor because I don't generally smell bad. I would hate trying to shower more often than that partly because I have a lot of thin, curly hair that is horrible to deal with after showering and partly because of the same reasons previously stated.
*****
You may think so, but that's not exactly your choice. :)
*****
No, once a month would be extreme. Once a week is only somewhat seldom. You've just been conditioned (pun only somewhat intended) to believe otherwise. In fact, there are lots of things about me that you might well have been conditioned to find repellant but I just can't be bothered to apologize for any of them. Also, you wouldn't be welcome in Europe.
***** You are a bit Naive, it is different for everyone. I feel that you should only shower when necessary. If you wash yourself every day for the sake of it, you'd be washing many important oils you need on your skin AND putting your body further at risk of infection. I shower the least in my family, do NOT smell bad or anything, and I am the one who gets the least sick in the family. It is best for you to get exposed to everything and get an immunity.
I shower every 2-3 days, but don't always use shampoo, sometimes just conditioner.
Me too, minus the conditioner. I'm still always paranoid about my smell though.
what about people that workout ? do you want me to stay in my sweat skin wattery ball sack for another day? i cant do that
dat imagery
I'm pretty sure in the video he said more active people require more washing.
I walk everywhere in Arizona. Bathing less isn't a option.
Shit. I shower/bathe almost every day *and* in hot water...as in Targaryan level hot.
Kitty Grimm So you like to cook yourself daily.
2-3 times a week. iam a skinny person person, got a office job and I almost never sweat when Iam not active. had a lot of disagreements about the hygiene but it'S just a mental thing. they dont smel something, even if iam in direct body contact... but if they know that I did not shower that morning, i suddenly am gross.. so yeah.
I shower when I feel its needed, if not I just change clothes. I don't get dirty easily.
I shower twice a day, everyday. I can't feel good if I don't shower at all.
I don't shower every single day, but if I go too long without a shower, usually 2-3 days, I begin to develop a LOT of dandruff on the sides of my head and in my beard. It then takes up to a week of daily showers with a dandruff shampoo to get it back under control. Even when I don't shower daily I don't stink or appear dirty. Actually I get people asking me what cologne I'm wearing, when I don't wear any at all.
I don't get the dandruff thing, but I'm in the same boat with the smell. I shower threeish times a week and often get asked what kind of cologne I'm wearing.
Same thing happens to me if I don't shower after 3-4 days I get bad skin flake build up on sides of my head and face. It's been getting better lately since I've been drinking a LOT more water.
You might have seborrheic dermatitis, but I'm not a doctor so take it with a grain of salt. I have terrible dandruff as well and I have to shampoo with T/Gel once every couple of days or I look like I've been snowed on. It's sad.
Dandruff club! Sad Happy-Face!
I shower 1-2 times a day. One after I work out, and one sometimes after I get off work. I work around a lot of oils and hydraulic fluids; I feel disgusting if I get in bed after all of that.
But I like the feeling of dry skin.
I've noticed that if you tell anyone at work that you shower every other day, they think that you don't care about your personal hygiene. But most of the time, I shower every other day. Yes, if I am doing a strenuous activity such as mowing the lawn, I will take a bath or a shower so that I don't stink, even if I just showered yesterday, but that doesn't happen very often.
i have to shower every day because my hair gets really greasy literally like 3 hours after a shower.
+Cameron You shouldn't wash your hair so frequently. You won't have any to wash if you keep doing so....
Your hair gets greasy because you shower too much and probably overuse shampoo too.
DBZHGWgamer no lol i can go soemtime without showering and it'll still be greasy
Cameron don't go "some time" you have to start putting several days in between each shower, and it won't happen immediately, it will happen over time. After a week or two maybe. Don't shower more than once ever 3 days unless you go out running or something. The grease in your hair is your body trying to compensate for all the oils it loses when you strip them away with long hot showers.
+Cameron if it's the aspect of you hair that bothers you, brush your hair. Works for me (I shower once a week).
I don't shower a lot. I don't require it. Like he said, it depends on your own needs how much you need to shower. Twice a day is still a little much, though.
Will definitely start having less showers and gradually trying colder water
Don't stop your daily showers because some nerds are telling u 2!
Showering daily is GOOD!!
I shower daily and I'm in good health!
daily showers is good for body and mind and it makes you feel better 2,
which will be good for people around you as well, which is also good for you !
there are stronger benefits from showering everyday than there are bad things about showering every day.
you feel better from showering daily because IT IS better! (as long as you are using clean water and not using bad soap)
