    Netflix is an American global on-demand Internet streaming media provider that has distributed a number of original programs, including original series, specials (including stand-up comedy specials), miniseries, and documentaries and films. Netflix's original productions also include continuations of previously canceled series from other networks, as well as licensing or co-producing content from international broadcasters for exclusive broadcast in other territories, which is also branded in those regions as Netflix original content.

    It depends on how they spend their budget. When I think about Netflix Originals, I usually think about bad content. Eiter most of the original content is bad or Netflix promotes the bad stuff more than the good stuff.
    I know this is unrelated, but Netflix forces the users to see trailers for their originals (which annoys me) and if they release something internationally it would be called a Netflix Original (even Titans is considered as a Netflix Original).

    I think that the reason some slam Netflix’s business model is because they still think of it as a content company when it is validated as a tech co. The metrics are different. Until Amazon hit with its cloud computing it made little to no money. Another example is Uber. There are others of course.
    I put the weekly drop idea in the same category as Netflix offering a commercial based option, it could happen but why? The biggest concern is the churn and customer acquisition costs. I don’t see how changing their release schedule lessens churn or reduces customer acquisition costs.

    They (Netflix) are in trouble with growing competition which already has a proven superior content catalog. How a show can get green lighted and be a miss just says the execs at Netflix don't understand their subscribers. Why they can't tell what is going to be a hit or something that is questionable is beyond me as all the analytics they collect should tell them with a high degree of accuracy what people will watch. (they have a goldmine of data they just don't seem to be able to read the writing on the wall)

  • @Merdicano

    Understanding the subject better, sounds like a good move, like deciding to invest better in the projects that DO require that budget, and not making or greenlit everything, it's a good choice, I mean largely I don't watch every show they have, so they have to focus on the quality over quantity, and that's very good

  • @arbhall7572
    @arbhall7572 5 лет назад +4

    I dont think this is a good idea. I love the original programming and with Disney+ looming large on the horizon, this is an epic mistake.
    Ive seen what Disney does to tech over the years. Its my barometer for tech, has been since the 80s.
    When asked about which tech is going to survive, I always ask one question. Which one did Disney get behind?
    VHS>Betamax. Because Disney
    BluRay> HD DVD. Because Disney
    Its going to happen again. Netflix is the dominant streaming service, but once Disney is in. Netflix is going to have a rough time of it.
    They should be doubling down on their content. Making more, spending less too of course. 115 million for that Affleck movie was a terrible idea. It didnt look or feel like it cost that much and that is really bad.

    Guess they gotta start being more selective on what ideas they green light so to speak. hollywood running out of ideas cause have look to books, prequels and sequels to try pull in traffic to bank more at anytime. so just cause they have alot of traffic or subs, does not mean they gotta keep making movies or shows. they need to focus on what they got to keep the subs happy and not loose the flow they got right now. if start losing focus then they loose subs cause movies or shows loose fans cause they start going in wrong direction. so focus on what u got and take break from just making so much new stuff for now.
