Power comes from good technique which Iga has. Strong foundation with the legs, wide apart, sinks into the court, initiates rotation with her legs which automatically rotates her torso/trunk. The arm when relaxed will just complete the swing. Bent or straight arm doesn't really matter. Novak, Stan to name a few have their arm bent but hit the ball as hard as Federer and Nadal.
@@hema28732001 maybe swiatek will change tennis knowledge as with this technique she is overpowering taller, much havier and more muscular girls, lately she was hitting faster than osaka except serve
Can somebody enlighten me on the 2 swings Swiatek uses? 1 swing on ther forehand goes over her left shoulder, the other is helicopter like over her head. I tried to figure out when she chooses the one or the other. At least i spotted a tendency, when she wants more speed she uses the swing over her left shoulder, when she wants more spin, she does the helicopter swing. But not always, i have also seen her for a winner and do the helicopter. Interesting technic and best WTA forehand at the moment. Can hit winners out of every situation, can create angles, can go longline, cross, inside in, inside out, unpredictable stuff.
It all comes down to what's the easiest way to follow through with the racquet path used. With a flatter racquet path (with less topspin), it is easier for her to swing over her left shoulder. When she wants extra topspin, the racquet path will be more steep and it is easier for her to follow through with the helicopter finish.
Looks like the "ATP" forehand is starting to take over women's tennis. I think it's what gave Henin the edge when she was in her prime, even though everyone talks about her backhand.
Not really... just the so-called reverse FH (loopy or lasso FH) the rest is completely different, rather more like Sock or Tiafoe. But frankly, Iga is not Nadal, Sock, Tiafoe, or Novak. Iga is Iga and she carries a completely OWN style which is like a fingerprint - unique. The uniqueness of every player in the world depends on so many factors that it is impossible to list all of them: strengths, age, speed, competitiveness, tennis teacher, life experience in tournaments, height, racket weight, body symmetry, dominant eye, temperament, "love" of the game, eyes, sense of timing, and even nutrition... plus about 30 other. Thus, it is like DNA. As these factors are never the same for various players, there is never the same movement except the forced classic, last time played by Stan Smith... ALL modern players are "weirdos" but each one is genus at what they do, utilizing to the max their abilities.
This shows her vulnerability on faster surfaces. Her forehand preparation is late and her grip is so extreme, requiring significant rotation at impact. Big hitters could exploit this and take away her timing just like Ostapenko did at this year’s USO. Her backhand is a bit more sound. Don’t get me wrong. Iga can adapt like Nadal did but her major successes will come on slower courts. This is what made the Williams sisters so successful. Their preparation on both forehand and backhand were so unbelievably early and it paid off.
Both her forehand and backhand are close to body and looks "ugly". Well it is stable and consistent, that's good enough. BTW, her forehand is not modern forehand, it is a WTA forehand.
it’s extreme western grip, it might not look the prettiest but it’s sure effective. with a power and a topspin, it’s a deadly weapon. Świątek's average forehand speed was 73 mph (118 km/h), only 4 km/h below that of the average male forehand speed. She even hit some forehands up to 79 mph (127 km/h), the fastest of any female player in the draw. Her forehand topspin reached 3453 rpm at the French Open, comparable with her idol Rafael Nadal
@@Luna-wi5hf Iga has WTA version of Taylor fritz forehand. Both Iga and Taylor forearms are very close to body (not pretty to me, but it is consistent). Iga's forehand is still racket head driven. On the other hand, Tylor Fritz's forehand is ATP style which has lag and snap. Whatever, that's some ATP/WTA clarification from my POV. Tennis is way more than just the style of your stroke.
I guess rybakina and sabalenka are 2 women players who can eaaily beat iga coz they have a very strong and flat services whom iga have none.. that 's why when it comes to serve iga has the worst of all tennis players . Iga will never win as rybakina already destroy her 3 consecutive times..
It is because her forearm muscles are very relaxed and as her hips begin rotating her hand holding the racquet forward the racquet face and much of the handle keeps going back and then rebounds forward like a whip, or a pendulum, or swing set.

very powerful and efficient forehand!!!
Great to see a woman player with a modern forehand, lag on the forehand, and a lot of spin
Iga's impact point on the backhand side is so near to the body. Most of the time it's already between her left and right hips
Agree, her forehand groubdstroke posture is opposite what my coach thought me.

Forehand extreme grip. Jack Sock's comes to mind.

She's already done it in women's tennis. Her forehand is unpredictable for her opponent and that's what it's all about.
