    What do you think about iga's forehand...do you like it?

    • @imateapot51
      @imateapot51 2 года назад +3

      Nope. There is no reason why girls can not do the forehand that most of the guys on the ATP do. They relax their wrist and as they rotate forward the relaxed wrist allows much of the racquet to keep going back and then it rebounds forward like a pendulum, boosting racquet speed enough that the windshield wiper happens naturally. It takes timing and a relaxed wrist (high level skill) that any woman can do just as well as a man.

    Like it, I hit with a full western and I can even flatten out at times. She looked great against Osaka in Miami, looked like she's a level above the rest.

      @@pontusschroder8361 Sometimes, but that's why I usually do wrist curls before and after playing with a light weight (2 pounds) or no weights. Either way it helps.

    Its’s one of her biggest weapon as kick serve especially the second serve. Naomi had to withdraw behind baseline in Miami final the second set as in the first set Iga’s the kick serve caused Naomi to hit above shoulder level, and thats no-no situation to be. The result was the next ball was long ball to the baseline by Iga and Naomi in troubles. And then Naomi melted completely in the second set. No aces anymore.

    I am more of semi-western grip person and do have to bent my arm a little but full wester is hard because it will be harder for low ball unless I switch grip on deferent type of incoming ball. I also noticed Iga has been working out. She is not the same person like when I first saw her.

    Caveat: I’m not saying it’s as effective a forehand as Steffi’s, but she reminds me of her in that they seem to be only players in their eras using the forehand grips they respectively use. Both have distinct, atypical forehand techniques

    She is incredible and I'm a fan, but she could use to watch the ball longer (ala Federer). She will hit more balls in the optimum sweet spot. Look at 2:48 and you will see her looking at her opponent rather than the ball at impact. Ha like i'm giving advice to Swietek!, but strangely, I'm right in this case!

    Has the flexibility, agility, and overall movement of Djokovic, strikes the ball with the Uber Top Spin of Nadal, and the consistency of Fed. Igs = Rafedovic pretty hard to beat, would be putting it mildly. Hope SW plays Iga if SW even competes in The French? which it doesn't look at this time she intends to? If Iga plays anywhere like she has been SW has little to No chance of winning.

    Superfan! Would like to ask if she has changed the forehand on the hard surface? I'm asking because it seems she's hitting with more power, and also a bit more anticipation. Is it right? Thanks for the analysis.

    • @pierdomenicosommati443
      @pierdomenicosommati443 2 года назад +2

      I think she didn't change anything, except maybe for a shorter and quicker setting up of her forehand, which allowed her to react to flatter hitting of her opponents, and to hit the ball more on the rise. The way she made contact with the ball, I think it was pretty much the same as ever... as well as the power and angle typical of her forehands, which are more than enough to put any of her opponents in very big troubles.

    It may not be very sustainable. It looks like it will strain the shoulder over time. Because there is too much power and strength needed to get spin as well as decent penetration/speed. She need to take extra care of her fitness. With that open stance and that grip and finish it looks like she isn't making better use of gravity and body momentum. Compare this and the Federer forehand. Complete opposites. Then again also Carlos maybe. Both Carlos and Federer have beautiful penetration as well as spin and also access to easy power. I love Iga though. Very aggressive and intelligent player. And she takes advantage of every chance she gets and goes for the finisher. Her technique is new and interesting though. And shebis quite strong. Only time will tell

  • @coffeedude2024

    Iga has excellent fundamentals but I dont like the full western grip because it is so extreme, she could struggle on fast and low bouncing surfaces such as grass.
    I think her forehand would be more versatile with a semi western grip without losing so much of her topspin but being able to hit flatter balls and hit lower balls more easily.
    But as long as she's winning, why change!
    Do you remember the Spanish player Berasetagui's extreme forehand in the 90's? His grip was near a backhand grip for the forehandlol In many ways, his and Jim Couriers forehand set the scene for the modern forehand as it was so different to the classic style forehands of that era.
    If you can find some video footage of this guys forehand and analyse it, I would love it as I dont think we've seen a forehand like it since!

    IT"s a very compact swing and the corrrotation is very much in great connection with the swing. The westerngrip is great for high balls and difficult on low ones.
    But she is great lovering her body (nearly sitting on the court (like Rawansa did) she getting away with the love ones bettere this year.Her big force is high ball"s wich she is great
    to finnish Off.(helped by the westerngrip) This forhand is a KILLER ! Pleas comment if I"m rong ! Bedst from Denmark

    • @Shankar-Bhaskar
      @Shankar-Bhaskar 2 года назад

      I don't think it's a compact swing at all, most players who employ the semi-western/ western grip end up with big loopy forehand swings. It's just a result of the grip.

    1. Iga is the best!!! I put Iga's FH under the microscope before she made it to #1 ;) Only 16k views on YT w/ "Iga Swiatek Forehand Slow Motion | elbowWheelWhip Forehand | moryshka FH"
    2. Emma's ATP-like FH is better than Leyla's straight arm FH. Still, made over 70k views on YT w/ "Leylah Fernandez Forehand slow motion | straight-arm Nadal style" :)

      Swiatek is so much better and so much more consistent than Raducanu... No match at the moment,especially in forehand department.
      I think there are two more big, heavy ATP-like forehands in the WTA: one is Barty's extremely easy and versatile, spectacular whipping shot (too bad she's not playing anymore☹️), and the other is the (not less spectacular) Fed-inspired heavy, straight arm whipping forehand played by Karolina Muchova (who is still not so consistent at the moment, and unfortunately, too often injured).
      Osaka and Serena also play forehands which are partly inspired to ATP.

    • @HapticKinetics
      @HapticKinetics 2 года назад +1

      Iga has a 2 yrs advance over Emma (2019-2020) but they are not so far in terms of potential. Pb is that Iga might move to fast for the rest of the WTA and Emma will not find a proper coach/consultant soon enough :)))))
      Barty FH is similar w/ Delpo's. Naomi only has ATP NextGen take-back (high elbow), but the (drop into the) lag is 100% WTA. Kasatkina has been also dropping the racket 'in front' but almost no 'flip'.
      Muchova's technique is really solid on all shots, drops in front w/ almost straigh-arm FH - problem is there are no court level or slo-mo vids with her on YT :( I hope she will return to the AO and Wimby 2021 great form and results and get back in Top 20, where she belongs ;)
