No it's not Faster than MD. I would recommend Watan / Endo Vs Sukam / Gideon. One is an all out attacking, monstrously fast pair. Other is a defense wall. Damn, I would never be able to get over that England Open finals
Love both pairs. If I have to pick one, Higashino got to be more aggressive at the net. She has good jump smash which unfortunately does not count much in XD. The girl at the net has to make opponents lift.
That and I don't feel like her jump smash is that powerful compared to Huang Yaqiongs standing smash. It's better angle but she's gotta do something about her defense. It's the weakest on the whole court.
Watanabe is arguably the best Male player in XD but Huang Yaqiong is undisputed Queen in XD. Extremely solid defense, very confident and daring at the front court and very high iq and game sense leading to so many successful anticipations

However he seem to not be able to execute drop shot as much this game, i think its the pressure and the pace that china is putting on to him. Arisa definitely was demoralized by the barrage of smashes executed by Zheng. Yuta did very well but a series of mistakes by Arisa caused them the game.
I can only play that fast for 2 hits before making an unforced error while they can on average hold at least double digit amount of back and forth rallies. Shows how much national team training can do for you even if you don't reach their level, at least you'll have consistency.
Japanese badminton has come such a long way ever since they had Park Ju Bong as head coach... it's like Sony powered by Samsung... but the China pair were clearly the better pair in this match..
It a tough game but im sure both pairs r very content with their performance and also to the audience. Xd era of indonesian and china of the past can't challenge the pace and intensity of the current xd. The same goes for ws. Its the highest standard of ws in badminton history with marin and TTY at the helm of it. Ms took a little dip when the giants of the past retired LD,LCW,TAUFIK etc and their void can't still be filled. MD r still the best among all 5 disciplined as long as indonesian style of play still exist.
2 years ago I was the same idiot who said that it is not faster than MD. (I mean it is still true) But, now I understand your point. It is of really high tempo. Usually, XD matches don't have long rallies with such pace.
Arisa/yuta shouldn't play at that tempo, zeng's footwork is incredible...they should prefer in drop and placing the ball, slowdown the tempo, lift the ball on huang....not make any drive that only reacting on zeng's/huang's shoot, it'll open their defense and then zeng will kaboom....
