There's going to be an entire generation of creative types growing up on Scenic Fights, evolving the craft of fight scenes, game mechanics, and bladed weapons thanks to the fine work these gentlemen are doing.

@@pbag26 Even if you're strong you'd prefer something lighter and faster. Even a machete can amputate a forearm and they're like 2 lbs. Medieval longswords were 4-7 lbs and took limbs off effortlessly. It's funny because training swords were heavier to build up strength, but the actual swords were surprisingly light.
All weapons in Bloodborne are unique, but I've always been a Saw Spear fan myself. That being said, your Saw Cleaver analysis is spot on - it's such a brutal and versatile weapon for navigating the dark, Victorian-era world of Yharnam.
I believe thats what the random wraps on the blade are intended for, to explain why you can just light it on fire. No explanation for the electriticty though lmfao
@@picklethesaurus4930 metal is one of the best conductors of electricity, some types are so good that unless the handle is made of thick insulators (think leather or wood) you would most definitely hurt yourself. No idea how they would electrify it in the first place though.
@BreakyOnline everyone knows metal conducts electricity, but even then it's still moving. It's literally impossible to get the electricity to just hang around on your weapon like they do in Bloodborne. Even assuming you could get it to stay, good luck not losing the entirety of your charge on the first hit
Trick weapons are arguably the most coolest concept for a souls-like game. My favorite weapon from Bloodborne, is Ludwig’s Holy Blade love that greatsword/sword combo
I think these may just be issues with the replica. While it is reasonable to assume the real one is heavy, the hunter is able to hold it with one hand in both forms and still swing it with relative grace. On top of that, the locking mechanism seems to work a little differently, with a transformation happening just from a particular swing. However, in the real world the saw cleaver would definitely be more awkward to use. Still a cool concept though.
I think the primary explanation for this is just that hunters are stronger than regular people, so weight isn't nearly as much of an issue. They can launch a gigantic stone hammer around that most people would struggle to lift, so the weapons don't really need to be usable by real world standards
Yes, it is stated that the blood transfusion that the hunter goes through at the beginning of the game enhances all of his physical abilities. The hunter has super human strength, also you see the hunter push his/her hand through the abdomen of monsters, or other fellow hunters who have super human durability.
When he flipped that thing into its cleaver mode, every eldritch horror within a 600 mile radius felt a shiver go down their spine (or physiological equivalent).
To be fair, in Bloodborne you’re hardly fighting skilled combatants rather than big monsters that are somehow a little more ferocious than the average New York rat.
The lore reason in Bloodborne to use the shortened version because the beast your fighting have blood which heals you so you want to be as close as you can to get it all on you.
One of my first weapons was the threaded cane. I know it's not the greatest, but an analysis of this weapon might put some stuff in perspective with its use
Using it as more of a scythe is something I suggested before, because of that edge and just the general curvature of it! I think it's an insanely versatile design, if but a but unwieldy. Honestly, between possible weight problems and the folding mechanism being a potential weak factor, if we could iron out even one, if not both of these issues, the Saw Cleaver could be a formidable weapon!
Well please consider that in the lore of bloodborne the hunters are extremely strong giving them the ability to Cary such weapons easily and then there is the aggressive attacks that the hunters use which makes the weapon more viable than in real life
The fact that it’s used one handed, and from the butt end of the handle makes the forearm strength kinda impressive, I mean imagine swinging around a hammer that’s like 5x or more the standard weight
Ohhh, this was soooo satisfying. Hmmm, I hope he does all the bloodborne trick weapons. I would love to see a video short on the church pick and rifle spear
It IS a slashing weapon on the inside, so a scythe motion makes 100% sense. The saw blade has one very big, very obvious flaw, and that is "you can't really saw your enemy" (assuming it's an active encounter). But you do have the extra punching power
Bloodborne has by far the coolest fromsoft weapons but they’re also incredibly over the top. A massive explosive hammer. An axe that can extend lengths on the fly. A cane that can turn into a serrated whip. And the 2 weapons that are just swords are so gigantic that no person could feasibly and consistently swing them. I guess most criticisms can be waved away though on the grounds that you’re doped up on beast’s blood.
I am writing a book where a character uses a chainsaw version of the saw cleaver. So, this was very helpful so I can make the downsides prevalent. Thank you.
The saw part actually has a very specific use. In the game, there is a hidden damage type known as 'serrated'. It increases your damage against beasts in a higher stage of mutation (wereolves, certain bosses, etc.) as long as your weapon has a saw. The Saw Cleaver only deals serrated damage when it's untransformed
Would you rather have a Bloodborne Remake or Bloodborne 2?
Why not both?!

The sound of it extending is super satisfying
and, again, intimidating. Someone flips that thing open and it makes that sound that's an immediate cheek clencher
Okay, but you can't deny how sexy it is.

“A hunter’s blade only hurts the beasts, if you can’t wield it, then your no hunter”
This is something Eileen would say
I would use it more as a scythe.
Hmmm, you know, given that the first hunter uses a scythe as their main weapon that's both fitting and not a bad idea
Burial Blade
Just use a scythe. 😂
@WallNutBreaker524 yeah the scythe name is the Burial Blade
Scythes are such inefficient, cumbersome, and dangerous weapons though
Using it extended when in an alley isn’t a smart idea tho

Hunters are superhumans, so it makes sense in the game that they wield ridiculously heavy weapons with ease.
The beast cutter simply existing proves that
The old blood gives the superhuman strength
I always love when the channel dresses up for the videos haha
The Hunter being able to hold this with one hand is the scariest thing about him.
