I watched Kung Fu Hustle with my dad when I was younger. I’m not that familiar with his work. That being said, this video has intrigued me to go watch his films.

This Song is primarily about the HK movie star Stephen Chow who nowadays no longer acts in movies and instead works as a director now and this song is basically a sort off plea asking for him to return to acting in movies and this song also coincides with Chinese New Year because in some chinese households(in Malaysia and Singapore and HK not sure about the rest) people will watch his movies with their family members and relatives so it kinda became a tradition for some
FYI:all of his movies are comedies and are very good so I suggest watching them
I watched Kung Fu Hustle when I was little, that’s why I immediately knew the movie in the music video. I love that you’re all educating me on what this video is mainly about. I really do appreciate it! I’ll have to rewatch Kung fu hustle and go watch Stephen Chows other films as well.
The poison thing was from Stephen Chow’s movie, it is a poison where once you eat it, you cant laugh or you die, but you can stay alive for as long as you dont laugh which makes it a shitty poison to kill someone with, then the characters tried to one up each other with goofier and goofier poisons which the subtitles completely messes up

Basically most of the lyric is from all of the stephen chow casted movie. I listed out some of the movie. 1. Flirting Scholar 2. shaolin soccer 3. Hail the Judge 4. A Chinese Odyssey Part One: Pandora's Box 5. A Chinese Odyssey Part Two: Cinderella. The opening movie inside the MV - is from Kung Fu Hustle movie and then the lyric "you dont need to go back to mars, youre safe because i am here on earth" partially from shaolin soccer movie. The original should be " faster go back to mars, earth is very dangerous"

This song partially originated frm Stephen Chow's movie - The Scholar (back in those days there was this very famous smart scholar - there's some real history abt him bt in Stephen Chow's movie is usually adapted with lots of crazy jokes n itz hilarious at times!) - esp the part abt "Grilled chicken wing, I like to eat".
