Those $2.00 eyeglass repair kits you find at the supermarket checkouts have a tiny screwdriver that's perfect for separating some parts. It's also good for loosening certain joints on action figures.
In stead of the screwdriver, I use the part separator that comes with many LEGO kits. That way, I’m not damaging the plastic and it has a very narrow edge.
Long and short of it: Plan accordingly and do 45 degree angle cuts on the male pegs. Though I'm doing some Warhammer 40k stuff and, since superglue is usually king for assembling the kits and I buy my kits used and super cheap (which are usually slathered with superglue), I have to bathe it in Alcohol or degreaser to severely weaken the glue to the point that wee wiggle is enough to break the glue off
Hey man! glad you're still posting. You re-ignited my passion for gunpla almost 8 years ago! i got back into it again (life happens you know). do you have an instagram where you post? i would love to connect and show you some stuff i'm working on
Wouldn’t the screwdriver damage the sides/edges of the plastic a bit? Or scratch the surface by accident on adjacent parts maybe? I think I did it last time when trying to pry a piece with a flat thin metal paint stirrer 😢
I use the plastic separator from PG unicorn, it works flawlessly, don't use metal screwdriver guys its gonna scratch the gunpla, then you have to epoxy it, sand it... unless you don't care about surface smoothness lol
Another tedious method I've seen japanese builders use is drilling the female connector just wide enough to take the pieces apart and then dabbing some glue in there during final assembly.
@@matzer1110 I know who that guy was. Henry however is present here and on other social media too. He's shown his face, shared his life, his problems, made tutorials etc etc. You can't compare mister "two Rs, two Bs" with simply because of one thing. Henry is a real person. While we knew next to nothing about robbert184 except the tone of his voice and a straight build from every kit that came out. Now, don't get me wrong. I was a fan of the other guy too and loved his videos. He had a certain charisma about him but after watching his videos, they became more or less all the same. A bit boring if you know what I mean. I don't blame him for leaving. It was beginning to be a chore rather than a hobby for him, doing videos of every kit he could get his hands on. Burnout is a thing with every builder, myself included, but even more so for straight builders that only ever used a fixed set of tools consisting of cutters, a hobby knife and a few panel line markers here and there. At least I have the option of a million and one shade of any color I could imagine. The end result is that much more gratifying compared to "yaaay, I managed to assemble another HG kit". And, to bring this thing to an end, Henry did quit more than once. Don't remember if he sold or threw away everything but he came back. And he made a video about it, talked about it with us, the viewers and man, you gotta respect someone for doing that. It takes guts. While that mr. "two Rs, two Bs" just picked up and left one day and that was it.
While this is very helpful for me personally (a few snapped pegs that weren't to serious, glue could fix easilu) I think this video helps tremendously. However I gotta ask, what kit is this? From video it looks like an MG, but I'm not sure what model of an MG though
Facts. There is no one method for each kit but I've learned to scratch build due to being impatient and breaking bits during disassembly
Mostly what I tend to break are pegs but I glue everything anyway so it's not a big deal for me.
Patience is one hundred percent the most important thing. Thank you for reminding me of that.
Easily at first, then with tremendously gentle force afterwards.
I use guitar picks, so i never damage the plastic. I have a heavy hand haha
This is my soul the guitar gundam
Dude, genius.
Same
I’d say I have plenty laying around, but you know they like to play hide and seek ;)
U saved my butt man ur genius

Taking apart my Amazing Exia Dark Matter so you're a good company Henry. Will have to take that Hi-Nu apart at some point too. I have two of those.

[asmr] relaxing voice unsnapping plastic therapeutic sounds
I wish the plastic wasn’t so flimsy and easily breakable
*Insert captain america patience end credit scene*
i was hoping you would dissasemble the inner frame. Ii think it's harder than the armor, still very useful tips.
Please review HGAC Wing and Sandrock.
When you paint innerframes do you take them apart completely or just bend the joints?

Do you have Instagram? love your work soo much
