    Very useful for me the information that the built-in graphic card is as good as an older "only 35 W" add-on.

    Man, great review on a mostly low spec product that costs about U$850 new. This is more a "lean" than a "thin" client. You'll be better buying a new tiny Lenovo for the same price and if you're tight on your budget you can't miss a U$100 Intel 8th gen M720Q with a U$20 riser card with tons of expandability. For a little more, you can find a M920Q with also double NVME M.2 slots. Keep the good work!

    • @ToddTinkersWithTech
      @ToddTinkersWithTech  4 месяца назад +1

      Thanks, yeah I was lucky to pick this up for cheap, but you are right, an M920Q sounds like a much better option. But would still like to see what a decent graphics card might be like in this machine...! Appreciate the comment! ✌️

      @happycube 3 месяца назад

      It's pretty unlikely that *anyone* watching this will have to pay that new price, they're on the secondary market for +/- $100. At that point it's an OK but not incredible deal vs a used tinyminimicro or N97 (less graphics power so not for games, no PCI-e card slot, but *much* smaller and lower power consumption)

    Hey Todd, have you tinkered with the mini PCIe slot at 6:07? There looks to be a port panel shown on the left at 6:00. I'm wondering if that's where the factory WLAN card went, and if that could sustain a dual 2.5GbE NIC.

    • @ToddTinkersWithTech
      @ToddTinkersWithTech  2 месяца назад +1

      Yeah, actually I did successfully install a WiFi/Bluetooth card in that mini pcie slot, guessing it might play nice with a dual 2.5gb nic? It's an E-keyed slot, for 2230 size cards only. Definitely could use the full pcie slot if you aren't installing a GPU etc.

    • @primeral
      @primeral 2 месяца назад

      @ToddTinkersWithTech hey, thanks for the update, it was really helpful! With that faster PCIe slot, I think that makes the T740 better than the Wyse 5070

      @@primeral Yeah I'm seeing these on eBay for around $75, neat little machine! I still am trying to find a cheap RX 6400 GPU to try out in it. Let me know if the 2.5gb NIC works in it!

  • @alanstedman6716
    @alanstedman6716 4 месяца назад +1

    This looks like a high spec machine for a thin client. The PCIe might be better put to use with either additional 1GB NIC slots x4 and make an opensense/pf sense box, or an m.2 board for additional storage and use it as a host for proxmox/virtualisation or a nas. May be even 2.5Gb or 10 gb NICs

    • @ToddTinkersWithTech
      @ToddTinkersWithTech  4 месяца назад
