- Fractures of the upper end of the thigh bone are referred to as 'proximal femur fractures' or 'hip fractures' in medical terms. Professor Thomas Ruedi, Professor Emeritus from the University of Basel in Switzerland, is considered one of the pioneers in the assessment and categorization of subtrochanteric fractures, which are injuries that disrupt the thighbone just below the hip joint. His unique perspective provides an unparalleled overview of the insights Orthopaedic surgeons have gained over the last 30 years. Dr. Lisa Taitsman, Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine at Harborview Medical Center then provides a discussion of newer technological advances in management of these challenging injuries.

I think there is a mistake.Extramedullary devices are load bearing whereas Intramedullary devices are load sharing
It is hard to take this seriously when the editor felt that an extended shot of a lady scratching her foot was more important than the lecturer.
Mii de multumiri pentru minunatele informatii!
Dr Ruedi is a Maestro...
thanks for the video, very useful !
After femur fracture surgery done but now the rode also broken what is the treatment we choose
I am suffering from femur fracture. They made a plate implant with screws and till now 7 MONTHS passed and the bone is not yet healed. What can you recommend me please. I need your help
I also got a left proximal locking plate on a subtrochanteric fracture a year ago and the bone hasn't healed completely yet, but as I watch this video, im crying so much given that I still can't walk straight and I'm a chronic pain patient now (all I want is for the pain to stop so I can walk straight again) my body has been compensating for the operated leg and now my whole body hurts too, I'm so sick of this.
Please update me with how you are. Let's get better together.
@@kuri_star 8 months passed and still not yet healed. Doctors said that i have to re-operate and i remove the plate and screws and instead using an interlocking nail and bone graft
@nacira chenini oh no.... Were you permitted to be on weight bearing this whole 8 months? Or just wheelchair? Can we come in contact in any social media platform? Maybe it'll help us both to talk to someone
@@kuri_star ok whats app or facebook?
I can actually feel the pain of the whole reoperation just by reading your reply. It's like going back to step one when you were already supposed to be healed at this point.
“Is anyone out there hello?”

I have stopped doing such type of fractures......unnecessary harassment and medical litigations by the unrealistic attitude of patients...let it be INDIA or USA....One of my juniors in USA said there are far too many litigations in SURGICAL profession in USA...
As a trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon practicing in a very hostile environment i got learned that communication with the patient is of prime importance..the informed consent plays a very decissive role ...
Ok
