There are a few talented inkscape instructors around on RUclips. I think your tutorials are definitely on the top of this list. Not the leat your clarity combined with your humor. It gives good feeling to follow your tutorials. I have the same smile on my lips. Thanks a lot and Gud bless you.
Thank you so much! I'm trying to make the steps simple and clear, and I try to have fun at the same time.
I wish I'd seen this particular video first. But I was able to accomplish it using a transparent png distress image. Converted text to paths etc. Select all objects. Then selected the object > mask > set inverse and it works nicely. Thanks!
I like that way too. Actually I should update this video because the masking method has some advantages.
I appreciate that you explain detail patiently. That's how we can really understand the logic behind and learn it. And I love it when you smile and enjoy it yourself at the end. I smile with you :)
Oh my goodness, thank you so much! I really like making these videos. They're my escape.
3 days ago I didn't know Inkscape existed, now I can't stop watching your videos 😄 Will definitely have to try it, looks like it's giving Illustrator a run for its money. But in terms of this video, I suggest converting the textures into vectors before punching them out, so that everything's scalable.
Thanks so much! Totally agree with that tip. Recording a vintage shirt design video and will be doing the distressed effect with vector texture for exactly that reason.
FINALLY... someone easy to follow.. thank you for simplifying this for me!! Inkscape can be frustrating but you made this easy.. looking forward to watching more of your videos
Thank you so much!! I've got more videos on here that will hopefully be fun to watch.
Just came across your page… love your videos and energy as well, subscribed & I can’t wait to see more videos
Very clear tutorial, thank you!
Thanks!!
Thanks. This video was perfect.
Thanks!!
Easiest way by far. Excellent
Thanks so much!
Love this THANK YOU!
Thanks so much!!
Nice one Rick I will have a lot of fun with that technique, thanks,
Still making repeating tile designs from one of your other vids.👍
Cool! I just uploaded the vehicle profile vector art tutorial. Thanks for the idea, and I hope it helps!
Many thanks
thats wonderful
Thanks!!
One thing I have finally noticed is in the lower left corner is a box with a number, typically 100, and a - + next to it. That will left you control the opacity without switching to the fill/stroke menu.
Good call! I love that little +/- box for on the fly transparency.
holy moly! wow
Thanks!!
Köszönjük!
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate the support, and I'll keep trying to make the best videos I can to share. Many thanks!
Great!
Thanks!!
Great tutorial, thanks for sharing.👍👍
Thanks! It's an SVG file in Inkscape while designing it. You can export it as a PNG under File- Export PNG Image. Does this help?
@@IronEchoDesign 👍👍
Thank you :)
Thanks!
Thank you
Thanks!
I really appreciate all of your Inkscape tutorials. Please keep making them!
And would this work if you wanted to add a textured background to a layout? Like a magazine/PDF? I'm currently working on a game and needed something a little more than a white background.
Woow that's great you saved my life again, thanks a lot and watching this great video from Sultanate of Oman . My question is will the logo gets pixelated when printed in a big size? Since the texture pic was not traced
Great tutorial. I can't figure out why if I export the svg before I distress my image, it exports fine. When I add the distress and then export, it crops it to the upper quarter of the image.
Thanks! Export sometimes crops items in unexpected ways. Sometimes if you group the whole distressed image and scale it down even slightly, then Export works properly. Set the export area to Selection also. I see the strange crop happen when I do watercolor projects. Hope this helps!
@@IronEchoDesign Ok...I tried that. For some reason, it's fine when I keep my canvas large. But if I reduce the image down to just the area of the print, it does the weird crop.
I can export the SVG fine when I export the whole document... But it doesn't help when putting it on a program for a shirt print. Doesn't happen when I export it in PNG. Oh well... Thanks for taking some time to try and help.
Thanks for the great tutorial. The distress does not create nodes to make into an svg. Is there a way that it creates nodes so the distress look can transfer to other programs like Cricut Design Space?
Sorry for the late reply. This video i made shows one method to do distress with nodes. ruclips.net/video/3k45WnRuN2c/видео.html
Can you apply this same method to text? I tried and It's not working.
How do I save this effect as an EPS? I open it in Illustrator and it does not open correctly.
🐐
Haha. Thank you. Logos By Nick
I did this and it worked great! However I can’t export as a PDF 🤔
Do you still need the solution? If you select your project go to File- Export and in the side menu bottom right change the export file type to Portable Document Format. Hope this helps!
Hey my friend, I got a question. How come my live preview come out completely black ?
Hello! It could be the source image is dark and the default is creating a full black preview. Try adjusting the threshold slider, deselect Live preview, and then re-select Live preview and see if it adds clarity.
Do you know how to create X-ray effect images? Like radiography?
That’s a cool idea. Haven’t done it yet. Maybe an exclusion filter would be one method?
Great tutorial but I want my distress to be white. When you pulled over and it became black I was like dang. I'm trying my hardest have been for a while to get that distressed vinyl cover look, it's so hard with freeware. Please help and thank you for your channel your a boss.
Thanks so much!!! I'll revisit this after work. My guess is to make the distress in a vector format and then change it white. Or- change the distress on the Fill and Stroke Menu down towards the bottom where the Blend mode is located- could try some of the dropdown options in there for more realistic overlay. Hope this helps!
