Both of your rigs are GOOD Radios. My Kit's radios are a Yaesu VX-6, and a Yaesu VX-8.
Both of THESE Radios are Weather Resistant. The VX-6 has one spare Battery. The VX-8 is my GO TO Radio, so it has three spare Batteries. I JUST purchased the usb Charger this past week for Yaesu HT's. I plan to buy a 2nd one of those next Month, as I REALLY like that unit! I also have a Speaker Mic for each Radio.
I REALLY do like the kit you built! Mine is not yet complete. I hope to add a few Days worth of Mtn. House Pouches just in case, along with an ESBIT Folding Stove & 30 Fuel Tablets. I have two Katadyn Water Filters; haven't decided which will go in my kit. One thing I have NEVER seen in a Go Kit is a roll of BATHROOM TISSUE! You never know!
I will also add a full Week's worth of my RX Meds to the kit as well.

It's compromise between maintaining equipment redundancy and carrying an inordinate amount of equipment. EMCOMM can mean many different things, and unfortunately a HT could be of limited value in many circumstances. Would it be better, since you are bringing a bag, to include a small mobile radio and battery/roll-up antenna? That way, you not only have redundancy, but added capability. Also- I have found that bags which open more fully (not just at the top as shown) make it easier to access communications gear.

Great video with details on contents and use of contents. Especially appreciated the tip on back-up system for ICOM with similar ops menu. Thanks again! Please keep posting more with your experience of what works best for your situational use. Cheers!

By any chance would you be willing to do an updated version of this (your) bag, as you preferences in radios/ gear has changed over time? Thanks, Stuart W1SLC

Great video. The bag looks a lot like my NRA range bag. I'm a little surprised at all the boxes that were included. Boxes just add weight and bulk. Why use them instead of plastic bags? That Gerber looks like the one I have and it is my favorite multitool. I like how a flick of the wrist will pop out the pliers and make everything accessible.

The bag is a Specter Gear 11-99 Bag. I definitely need to go back and add some links in the description. But here's a link to the bag for now - www.spectergear.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=SG%2D1199

Well, nice concept but >>> the 11-99 bag has been discontinued on your website; I was recently told via email.
Sad as it looks like a great product and the size is exactly what I have been searching for.

I love gear as much as the next guy, but that's overkill. Most of that gear would be left on the side of the road if the average ham radio operator needed to carry it more than a mile.

I have a slightly smaller bag set up similarly but I will changing up to the Specter 11-99 especially with the GP-1 pouches. Very informative video. I also like your bench and cutting mat. Where can those be sourced? K1MLG
