Turbos add hp and torque, and they increase fuel efficiency they should be on every car😊
I remember my Volkswagen Jetta Turbo Diesel 1987. It was incredibly diesel efficient.

@friskydingo5370 They only increase efficiency comparably to a similarly powered larger engine size. IE 2.0turbo vs 3.0l gas etc etc

No, they don’t increase fuel economy. They make a smaller fuel sipping engine feel like a larger one that drinks more fuel.
It depends on what altitude and your computer system with intercooler a turbo will produce a better atmosphere for combustion and a more constant one if done correctly their for the fuel air ratio can run leaner reduceing the amount of fuel consumed with the added power and reduction of weight make the machine more efficient. My 3.0 turbo gets better mileage than the same car model with out a turbo you have to add the power of compressed air acting on the pistons alone causing no parasitic draw 😊
Using the exuast gass to add power will always increase efficiency as you are recovering normally lost power

Only thing I feel was(maybe)overlooked is the back pressure in the exhaust system - adding a turbo is all good and well, but is the exhaust diameter suffiecient for the engine with the added turbo to flow efficiently. Also, I'm surprised they didn't reduce the weight of the vehicle

Myth was about the turbo adding or lowering MPG, not what ever you could make it more efficient. Of course if you rip everything out and make it far lighter the consumption drops, same with decreasing the drag factor, but it was not about that.

The turbo out the bonnet upped the drag possible more than the increasing in fuel use in the hills put it under the bonnet and it may of had a slight gain in all tests.
To me it is a good looking car.
Given that anything past the turbo is now turbulent flow, there should be a significant increase in Cd. So yes, I can see scenarios where the car is less efficient with the turbo.

It's not a mith, turbocharging an engine will make it more efficient, it's a verified fact
myth* and it also just depends, if you're going for the similar power, sure, with the proper tune. The moment you're using it in a performance setting, it will allow you to draw MORE air and thus MORE fuel, making more powa baby. More fuel means less fuel efficiency.

Why don't you calculate the load resistance that the chassis Dyno puts on the car? And hopefully they do realize that even in bracing or just daily driving the quicker that you can get you posted speed the less fuel you use in the long run you just put up the road never open it up you drink more gas in the long run

Hi Tory. I've been a fan of Mythbusters since its inception. But it seems like instead of carrying on that legacy (white rabbit), you want to use the series as a platform for lbgtq awareness. That's ok, but I don't appreciate the bait & switch.

Every Male To Female(MTF)that is transitioning doesn’t have Caitlyn Jenner money, to be able to do all feminization surgery at once, then isolate and recover, and do a photo shoot to come out as a woman. People transition MTF or Female To Male(FTM)at their own pace and ability.
People who want to transition their gender are told to first dress and style themselves as the opposite gender.
Bottom surgery is an individual choice among transgendered people.
