Swimming with great white sharks, what happens if you get stuck behind a 747 airplane and could a Chevy impala fly if it had powerful enough engines?
Using science as a tool, Hollywood special effects experts attempt to debunk rumours, urban legends and popular myths that have captivated the minds of many individuals.

2 hour special is actually 1 and a half hour special once you remove TV adverts.
And a 30 minute episode slot is only about 21 minutes of actual episodes. The time checks out
And only 1 hour if you remove all the repeat recaps after each ad break.
What if I said you get an hour of ads in Australia for this ep
thanks, i couldnt see how long the video was
Soon it will be a 2 1/2 hour special on RUclips.
Amazing they found a real live walrus to go in the shark cage
outsourced rockets, professionally made -> explodes immediately
lol
I truly miss that music….it gives me that warm nostalgic feeling in my heart and all over my body.
You can feel it coming inside of you😩😩😩
@@w_ldan Uhhh... what?
The 747 used for the car flip stuff is still in active service with the same company. Just checked now, and its latest flight was from Seoul, South Korea to Anchorage in Alaska.
I'd love to hear if the people who get to pilot it know it was on Mythbusters, haha.
Just to make sure I'm on the same page, do you mean the exact 747 in this episode or 747s in general are still used by that company
@@bazzacorpsit seemed rather clear… “The 747 used…is still in service…”.
But Regal Empress is not. It was scrapped 2009

Adam's face at 29:08 when Jamie is telling his shark tale is just priceless :D
"This episode on the myth busters, Carrie, Grant and Tory are off to international waters to test the myth that you can get away with murder"
Fun Fact: that 'Dolphin' noise @6:44 is not actually a Dolphin. Its a Kookaburra speed up, and was first used in the movie Flipper.
Fun Fact Two. The waterski teacher is Willi. So, do you know what a kookaburrah used to be called in German? Lachender Hans! That is laughing Hans! For real!
Both "facts" are as real as your names, @@voornaam3191
Cool factoid
I thought it was just Spongebob talking like a sailor.
credit to the mythbusters, they said failure is always an option, and they lived by that
"goes back for hundreds and hundreds of years.. you might be familiar jamie"
:D
This Episode was amazing, the captain from the ship is very cool.
51:00 Shout out for Kerbal Space Program, for letting me think:
"Mhh...a lil bit too much TWR, cut 15%, and maybe some stabelizing fins..."
It is scary how the bus just imploded when it rolled over. No structural integrity there. If it had been a accident with kids, none of them would have survived.
Right? I would have thought it would have a roll cage in it.. although would it make a difference if no one is using a seat belt? 🤔
it had a hangtime thats why the splashdown squashed the bus top, if it simply rolled over, it would last 2 rolls before it crumples, most of the time it would only tumble on its side due to center of gravity. Your buses are designed with safety in mind, not being jetwashed by a turbofan engine
"Seatbelts everyone!"
"Please let this be a normal field trip?"
"With the Frizz? NO WAY!"
**CRUISIN DOWN ON MAIN STREET**
@@natasha8007 Roll cages are added for the racing-version only
Anyone else see Jamie welding literally right under his hand at 9:03?!?
The dolphin mock up is good, but I would also check if the sound of the inner drill scares the sharks, because might be sensitive to weird sounds. They should have conducted one more test with tuna and dolphin mechanics in the water but without the dolphin silhouette
Looked like the second test was without the tail motion on
@@HalNordmann yeah it wasnt on
Absolutely love Mythbuster
I feel bad for the 67 chevy 😢
Me to. He even named the car and then; BOOM!
Yup, they couldve just bought a scrapper. Or something less classic
@@kaptein1247 Wouldn't have been TV worthy enough
@@huzzzer6083 tv shows use scrap cars all the time
i wonder if that guy who sold that car regrets it
The foot in the boat got me 🤣
I spotted that too. 19:35
sorry to ruin the dolphin story, but one of the real reasons why sharks don't mess with dolphins is: 1 dolphins and sharks' prey are somewhat similar when talking about fish (meaning less food for sharks, more food for dolphins)
2 dolphins hunt in pods while sharks hunt solo
3 dolphins can cause REAL damage to sharks if they fight with their noses
4 Orcas the apex predators of the sea hunt sharks and sometimes only eat the liver of sharks, and dolphins while related they can also hunt sharks but is rare
5 DOLPHINS HAVE A GREAT PR TEAM, dolphins since they are intelligent they can also do some really messed up things, believe me, dolphins are jerks and Hollywood makes them look like nice angels
Casual Geographic !?
Thanks for the upload, great episode.
I always thought that it was Adam who would draw a pic of the myth on the blue paper each episode
They used to do it themselves until the Western Myths episode.
Nations most renowned rocket man, yeah it ended good 😂
This was my favorite and legendary show for so many years I watched them. I even have the CD collection ❤
19:39 take a gander at the human foot 🦶
The poor Impala. 😢😢
Why did have to be a 67 Impala??
Because they know people would react saying " Oh the myth was using 67 Impala then you used 72 LTD, you guys sucks "
Did anyone see the human left foot on the bait bucket 😮😮💨🤣
The animation of the team in the car is awesome, reminds me of the video clip for Hilltop Hoods' music video 'Clown Prince'
The name "Holley" would be taken from the carburettor brand that is of the same name I imagine.
Oh the time before GoPros where the goto crashcams. :D
Those were the good days of cable tv. I live in Rio and vividly remember the blown away taxi story. One detail they did differently by lack of option: on that airport the biggest jets that operate are 737s or A320s.
Love this show
Wacky Races Impala!
I must say from a natural world standpoint, the shark-dolphin experiment was pretty damn scientific and really interesting, not to mention excellent to watch! That's definitely now one of my all time favourites
The greatest thing about this show is every intro was unique!
A control test animating a fish or seal would have been nice in the shark myth, to see if it's the dolphin or the materials and mechanics making the shark cautious.
I think that the Whites are not scared of dolphins or people. I think that a defensive dolphin increases the likely energy output in eating the sailor, plus clothed humans in life jackets are not natural prey. The shark judges the situation to be too costly in energy and does some simple math before deciding to find more optimal hunting/feeding conditions.
@@ryanbuckley3314 "Ugh, I hate when they have the peel still on."
@@ryanbuckley3314 I think there's definitely an element of "too much effort" in it, but I wouldn't discount the possibility even great whites simply aren't willing to risk a fight with dolphins. since dolphins hunt in pods, if a shark sees one, there's likely to be more, and dolphins absolutely can do real damage to sharks. dolphins are not pushovers, they are top predators in their own right.
36:30 Oh, that says POINTER! I misread it as something else at first. Makes sense, though. Blue Pointer, White Pointer. Consistent and shark-themed names.
It shows how unsafe and dangeours the US school buses are.
ooh the poor Chevy....
wow, before 3D printers were a thing huh :)
Peak Mythbusters!
I'm kinda sure my father actually did that once in his youth. Water-skied behind a ferry that went between Sweden and Norway 😃
not the whole way ofc, but anyways. It's definitely possible as long as you have enough speed.
What do you mean, not the whole way? 😢
@@markrainford1219 he just did it for a while to see if it worked and because it was cool.. but it would have been awesome if he did it all the way between 2 countries 😃
I was pleasantly surprised by the taxi in a jet-stream bit because usually, the mythbusters team have to increase the effect of whatever it may be to get the same result as in a movie or tv-show, but now we know that a normal unenhanced jet-stream will toss a normal weight car like paper.
I will always love this genius show !!❤
mythbusters on youtube? hell yes i'm in.
welp gues we gotta wait till super super sized to find out if the car can fly
Espero que que se cumplan los buenos augurios… gracias

is this that waterboarding everyone keeps talking about?
Amazing! The asphalt gets ripped apart yet the grass stays in tact! The power of nature.
22:30
I ♥ TAB
Who is TAB???
Wonder if some of those passengers have some cameras to video Tory's wakeboarding.
does this sound like its coming out of a tube for anyone else?
The way to remember the 4 stages of how a jet engine works: “Suck Squeeze Bang Blow”. That lines up with air intake (suck), compressing the air (squeeze), add fuel to the air and ignite it (bang), exhaust the gasses for thrust (blow).
Still have a picture of a guy skiing behind HMS Glasgow
Ok gave in just by the animated intro
Cruel keeping dolphins in tanks
god I miss this show 😭
The only thing i know for sure will deter a great white is oracas as a great white has been observed to entirely avoid a area a orca has been seen
Orcas are dolphins so fita the myth well.
Det var en rigtig god ide det må jeg prøve…😎👍
1:30:06 At least it was a beautiful explosion :)
Not an Impala but a Caprice!!
Say hi to Fonki Cheff.
I think 1:29:37 is probably why Scotty quit the show. I love MythBusters, but I don't blame her.
how much budget do they get? i think a million per episode is not enough.
really?? I have more scars from my childhood than they have their whole life.
Did I just see a foot in the shark-bait-box????
I miss this show…
"Dedicated to Mr. Wizard"???
Replay the Shark trying to get into the cage. See the immense power coming at you. It has the reflex action of a Dog. But Huge. Terrifying. Jamie said it shook the cage, but if you look closely the cage travelled about 5ft! The was crazy. The cage may be strong but the cables could have broken and sent him to the bottom. Then what??
Please, true lies.
Might be my favorite arnold movie.
With the release of the blu-ray on march 20, good timing.
The sound is terrible.
Rocket fuel eh, developed in 1940 eh. Perhaps by scientists with funny pinwheels on their sleeves?
Rip grant
2 hours super size special is so big it cant even fit in to 2 hours
hows this supersize if they didn't use the megalodon😂
anything can fly with enough rockets
Wait, Kari listens to VENOM?!
I wonder if dolphins can make a sound that can repels Sharks
Hmmm they turned a Chevy into F.O.D.
My question when it comes to the shark vs dolphin result is, are sharks solitary hunters / eaters ? Do all sharks refrain from eating if there are other large aquatic animals around because they are worried that the other animal is a shark that if denied it's prey will attack the first shark ?
2 hour special in 1 and a half hours. That is a lot of commercials.
And who is driving lol
49:34 - Imagine the number of failures with Kim Jong Un's exploading and out of control rockets and missiles; maybe one day the gyros and guidance computers will fail and crash right back into him: that will be an extra big inferno if you know what I mean with all that extra energy inside his body xD
01:23:27 🤣🤣🤣🤣
What’s was the severed foot in the boat about?!?
Remember time of mythbusters , i like this and you?
Not up for dolphin or whale to be kept.
What a waste of a beautiful car. Could’ve just made a body of the impala on another car like the scale test.
Mythbusters, how to drag out 20mins of footage into and hour and a half.
So I'm not done with the video/ episode. However, at about 3/4, way through, I come to the conclusion that sharks don't mess with dolphins or anything near then bc of how fearlessness dolphins are. From my understanding, sharks are so used to everything running away from in fear that when something or someone stands their ground, it puts a sense of fear(I feel like "fear" the right word to use but all I can think of) I could be totally wrong but I myself find that that it makes sense that you should be afraid of something that isn't a afraid of you
Dude watching them do the milling thing for the impala model makes me feel like I'm watching people from the stone age. I know it was only like 20 years ago but wow. Get a 3D printer guys!
Funny, it looks like the shark was first checking, if the seal was a baby dolphin. Nope, a seal! Yep, breakfast! Nope, it was toasted far too long. What a Myth Bummer!
Hmm a 67 chevi impala with a rocket stapped to it why do i feel like a certain silver screen character would be crying if he saw it *carry on my wayward son plays in the background*
❤
at 43:55 can some conspiracy nut-job explain to me that the car is being towed along by that chain that is clearly visible? Thank You.
STOP HOLD ANIMALS IN PRISON
I get really sad seeing Jessie and the rocket car. She didn’t need to die :(
That was Scottie working on the rocket car. Jessie wasn't brought on for another 2-3 seasons.
The last part is true, though.
Thanks for the integrated mono, peoples apparently forget how to do it manually, however audio is great
What are you even on about, the audio is bad!
At least, at the start. Its fine for the rest of the vid.
@@ToTheGAMES You know how some of the episodes have the narrator in the left ear? putting the audio in mono fixes that, but causes the weird audio at the start.
Unfortunately the sound is unusable again
Check your device. I've never had a problem with the audio on these.
crap sound quality
i love that the captain of the cruise ship is actively smoking indoors. i miss those days.
Where do the get the money for this from hahah
Discovery Channel budget and lots of Ad Money i assume
Look, there were several issues with the rocket car:
The “impedance” of the rockets starting didn’t match a sufficiently smooth acceleration curve.
The rockets were badly designed, I don’t care how “professionally” they were made, the elephant in the room is that the rockets failed catastrophically.
Let’s also add the fact that you don’t need to weigh down the front of the car too much, you are not launching it vertically, you are launching it horizontally off a ramp. In that case, the extra weight on the front would just cause it to nose dive.
Someone has to deliver this myth some long overdue justice.
Everything, with rocket on the back, need to be balanced. Not only that, but at least with small wings/stabilizers, to keep it going straight. Maybe even active stabilizers to handle all the variables. I can't see how a car shaped thing could keep straight projectory without something to balance the flight (both horizontal and vertical movement). Even if the rockets had worked, the car would have flipped around in circular motion. Either front or backflips.
PS. Those rockets were a total failure. Clearly they needed a lot more testing and test runs. Most likely didn't have enough time and money to do things properly. When you don't test everything before, this is the result.
They finally managed to redo jeto car more or less successfully in another episode. Although in that 3rd take they decided on much smaller ramp made of sand. Wonder if they researched this part and decided smaller one would do better, or just saved time or something. Need to rewatch it and see what was the rockets they used in the last take. The car did some crazy flips though which is to be expected.
Mr beast jumped a number of rocket cars off a ramp over busses. They made it work perfectly.
@@MrMassage73 The power difference matters. Use 1/10 of the power output and it's easier to do the stunt. More power in short amount of time - Issues, risks, etc. raises exponentially. MB could have used just minimum rockets and got basic jump. Trying to get the car fly like a rocket is on another scale.
They went way too high on the amount of boost (hit the mountain?! no way.) It was going to flip and circle with no stabilizers. The design of the engine wasn't right. Aluminum tube? Open at both ends, like an Estes engine? Jaime's weight distribution calculation? Don't you need center of mass and center of gravity to be separate? I wonder what the Estes guy thought of the set up.
