  • This is our experimental jointer build video. We have always wanted a jointer in our shop however, we have never had the budget to get one. After watching multiple other RUclips videos on DIY jointer builds, we decided to make our own. The difference with this one is we used a battery-operated planer rather than a corded planer. Hopefully this video will help others that are in similar situation. Jointers are useful tools that can make a huge difference in your wood working projects. Our finished products can be viewed at jkwwoodworks.com. Thanks for watching.

We like to use scrap wood to reduce waste of material. It makes it more challenging since we have boards of different sizes and thicknesses. However, this gives us a great feeling knowing that we are giving pieces of wood a second life that otherwise would have been discarded. Well now I'm not afraid to try it myself!

      Glad to hear. Just be careful with the tool itself. Since it's upside down, those blades are spinning fast and looking for your fingers. Just be mindful of that while using the tool. Let me know how it works out for you.

    This is amazing man! Way to think outside the box. I'm super impressed with this concept and plan on doing something similar in my shop. Thank you!

      Thanks for watching. Yea, I don't think I am going to market this. I would have to put more hours into it just make it look nice. The poor man's jointer would be a good title for this project. I might make a short with that title. Thanks

    you did not have to tie down the triger the white button by the triger can lock the triger

    • @jkwwoodworks
      @jkwwoodworks  Год назад

      That is the lock button. How would you suggest locking the button in place? The reason I locked the trigger in place is because I had zip ties and it was extremely easy to do. I am open to suggestions. Thanks for watching.

      @@jkwwoodworks press and hold the trigger then press the white button and let go of the trigger the trigger is now locked to unlock you then press the trigger

    • @jkwwoodworks
      @jkwwoodworks  Год назад

      @@johnarson1205 I understand that. What I'm trying to understand is how you purpose to hold that button down? The second you let go of that button, the machine shuts off. That's why I zip tied the trigger. So all I had to do was remove the battery to turn it off. It was permanently stuck in the on position.

    I could actually almost hear you talking. May want to invest in a mic and leave out the music. Nice idea though
