Extra context for a few of the Pokemon mentioned: Absol is also meant to be based on the superstition of Black Cats bringing bad luck and the designs of Krookodile and its pre-evolutions are meant to be a reference to the masks + black/white stripes of a stereotypical burglar which is where the reason for their Dark Typing comes from
Yveltal isn’t really that evil, it is the god of death so in a biased way of thinking people would say it’s evil but if it just stopped existing people would suffer from age and illness forever with no way to end their suffering and the only time we see it act evil is when it was forcefully woken up and it goes on a rampage before it’s counter part Xerneus(Life Pokémon)tells it to take a chill pill and go back to sleep
Evil itself is a human concept and dosent actually exist in nature or physics. Also being a god of death means your the only reason the god of life exists tou cant have 1 witout the other witout completely changing the meaning of each
So fun fact about the tiger wrestler (Incineroar 9:39) and ninja frog (Greninja 12:20). You’ve actually seen those 2 Pokémon plenty of times in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. They’re both playable fighters.
Hydreigon also has a darker secret not mentioned When it evolves, it sprouts a third head, and the other two heads die, becoming its' hands. And Absol is among my favourite Pokemon. It's as cute as a cat
Glad you mentioned that fact about Hydreigon. I'm surprised he didn't mention that as it makes it even darker. I knew about this a long time ago, but when he omitted it I assumed maybe it wasn't official since it is kinda dark for a kids game. Then again Hypno, the alleged child kidnapper and possibly worse, exists lol
Malamar is a upside down squid and pretty terrifiying. In more than one episode of the anime they showed up trting to take over the world but when the heroes keep barely winning, they escape to the future to a time they think will be easier to conquer. Although they also showed a few that were supposed to be nice and innocent. The anime definitely likes showing bad and scary pokemon sometimes act nicer than you would expect. Lile when a houndoom had to take care of a togepi.
One thing about the Dark type is, that while is called "Evil" type in japanese and "tipo siniestro" here in latin america, is that Dark also is mean to represent darkness, shadows and the night instead of just the moral evil. Fun fact about Incineroar: It is actually one of the most if not the most succesful Pokémon in the official competitive format to the point it0s basically mandatory for most teams to have Incineroar. The Competitive Pokémon youtuber, WolfeyVGC made a video about that.
One interesting point from another Pokémon that gains the dark typing when it evolves. Pangoro is a dark/fighting-type, but its base form Pancham is pure fighting. The fun part is that it specifically only evolves if it's on a team with at least one other dark-type. The kid is corrupted by being around a bad influence.
Dark type is my second favorite typing after dragon. They're so cool. My favorite Pokemon on this list is Absol. When it first came out a lot of people actually thought it was a legendary Pokemon even though it wasn't. One of the coolest designs ever in my opinion.
Sableye is my all time favorite Pokemon. I’ve been a fan of stories of cryptids like the Hopskinville goblins since grade school. It’s shiny (alternate, rare color) changes two of the gems on its body into emeralds, my birthstone, and when it mega-evolves one of the emeralds becomes a big shield. Love the little gremlin.
I love Grimer and Muk, cute little Blobs who likes to hug you all the time. Absol is a really elegant Pokemon and pretty rare too, like a myth. Should be Type Ice/Dark at least.
I really like Hydreigon thanks to Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinity ... at first you might think he applies to the "normal" personality from the mainline series, but then you actually meet this particular Hydreigon, and he's just the most adorable dork/nerd around, vehemently declaring he doesn't eat people and stuff, rather being the sort of character who would talk to you for hours about some scientific thing. (Really, there's one scene where a couple characters ask him a question, and cut to several hours later and his text is just "blah blah blah" and he hasn't even gotten to the main point of the question lol.)
Umbreon will always be my favorite pokemon. Though a recently new one to be released that wasn't covered in this video is a very close second. That one being Meowscarada
To really hammer it in, no Pokémon are just outright “evil”. Some are definitely devious, rude, antagonistic, and brutal but none are genuinely evil, because that’s reserved for the human villains since saying an entire species of magical animal is inherently evil when the point of the series is friendship and understanding nature, is a bit of a no no
I'm a big fan of the dark type. They have cool designs and it was a great way to counter the once over power psychic types. My favorite would be Sneasel and his evolution Weavile, even if ice/dark is an awful defensive type lol
Guzzlord has a bit of funny reputation because unlike most pokemon it's cry in the anime is just a guy Screaming... literally just screams AHHHHHHH at all times which has kinda blunted it's pokedex entry a bit and made it more comedic than anything.
“Incineroar was my favorite.” Kinda surprised, given Incineroar threw Street Fighter Ken into a stadium sign in Super Smash Bros. My favorite Dark-type is Greninja. A little extra bit about Absol; they usually start appearing in the games one story beat before the climax, which is when it all hits the fan, appropriate for a creature that can sense impending doom. This is particularly noticeable in their premier games Ruby & Sapphire where the signature Legendaries literally do cause natural disasters.
These videos were made back when Gen 7 was the current Generation, and we've had 2 more gens since then, so just in case you wanna know there are other videos where he talks about Gen 8 and Gen 9 as well.
btw ken that the fire starter final evo incearoar it first form is a cat and it pokemon name is as in light and kitten :) as for beth little squid pal if i remember to evo it you have to turn your 3ds upside down (or i guess nintendo swtich now) also pocheyanna i was wonder what your two reaction would be and didnt disappoint
In the latest generation pokedex entry we lear that Hydreigon (the hydra pokemon) as developed is violent and tyrannical attitude because he was constantly persecuted and hunted by human due to superstition
Cool getting to see you guys react to this Type video. Very interesting to go through which Pokémon would exactly be considered actually evil or are simply given the Dark-Typing for aesthetic reasons, or are simply misunderstood. The PokéDex entries for the ones that are though can get really wild 😅. Well then, up next is the Fighting-Type 😁!
I always liked Sableye, the little goblin with gems in his eyes. Hmm, I guess that these videos usually don’t mention the Mega-evolution because most of them are just the Pokemon becoming more of itself but in Gyarados’ case it does become evil with the change in type. AND that reminds me that after this series y’all have to react to the “Pokémon Battle Royale” videos by TerminalMontage which are animations made in collaboration with Lockstin. Those videos are fun after knowing the gist of the Pokémon and then there are explanation videos on Lockstin’s channel for why each Pokémon would survive or not in an all out fight. No pressure on getting there, there’s no rush, just something to look forward to in the future 👀
The Japanese name of the type (aku) translating to "evil" isn't quite right, either. That's the definition a lot of dictionaries give, but the usage isn't 1:1 with the English word. Like in Japan, you can use the word when scolding little kids behaving, but in English it would sound super over-the-top if you started lecturing a 4 year old about committing acts of evil for playing a prank. Dark probably does a better job capturing the fact that it can range from "hellspawn embodiment of darkness" to much milder usage like "dark thoughts". And brown recluses don't cause swelling or pus leaking, so if you've got either of those symptoms, start looking for signs of a bacterial infection instead of a spider bite. Even doctors frequently make that mistake.
I hesitate to call any Pokemon evil, including dark type Pokemon. The anime made a point quite often of showing that Pokemon aren't evil but can be misunderstood. Malamar, the Ursala power ranger villain looking squid, is a textbook example of this. The one Malamar from that episode he mentioned *is* a supervillain bent on world domination, but later on in that same saga of the anime they showed a colony of Malamar and Inkay that lived simply by picking berries and fruit off trees, they didn't try to hurt Ash and the gang, they were just vibing. Even Yveltal, the Pokemon physical incarnation of death and destruction, is just fulfilling its role in the ecosystem, being equally as valuable as its counterpart Xerneas, the incarnation of life. Some more info about Malamar since Bethany mentioned it at the end, the Pokedex mentions that it's theorized that Malamars mind control has been at the center of many world altering political events. Also the way that you make Inkay evolve into Malamar is pretty funny. You have to level it up and then *turn your device upside down*, and it will evolve, since Malamar is upside down compared to Inkay. Their signature move is also called Topsy Turvy, and if I remember correctly it turns the targets stat boosts into stat nerfs and vice versa when used. Hell yeah Incineroar. That Pokemons evolution is interesting, it transitions from an antisocial kitty to a big heel wrestler cat. They love fighting and are super reckless and don't really know their own strength, but they're also apparently really great with kids. Ash had one in the anime, one of his best written Pokemon partners for sure I love him so so *so* much. Incineroar also, for almost every year it's been available in the competitive scene, has been the number 1 dominant force in the meta. It's the best user of the broken ability Intimidate which cuts the opponents attack whenever the user switches in, and it's got tons and tons of utility and supportive moves and can pack a punch as well, it is the #1 team player Pokemon, you can slap it onto any team and it'll make everyone else on your team stronger. It's so dominant that so many things have been added to the game to counter it and yet it's still on top. I wouldn't call it broken or unhealthy though, it's just that for awhile the niche it fills was very unpopulated but important, and even now it's still the best at what it does. Deino, Zweilous, and Hydreigon! Those dragons that gained heads as they evolved, absolutely one of my favorite Pokemon of all time. Lockstin was actually pronouncing their names wrong lol, Deino is like Dino, Zweilous is like Zwhy-Luss, and Hydreigon is like hi-dragon. Deino and Zweilous act like big goofy brats, they're just spicy puppies, but Hydreigon is truly monstrous, super aggressive and dangerous. Their names are derived from the German words for 1, 2 and 3, like their number of heads, and Zweilous and Hydreigon have tank tread designs on their bellies. It's said that early and development they were meant to look a lot more like German tanks but were dialed back, but I mean with Zweilous especially you can definently see the influence still. What I like about Hydreigon is that when you get to know one they can be goofy and silly too. In the Pokemon games where you can interact with and pet your Pokemon, Hydreigon will respond by doing a wavey little dance shaking all of its heads around. Also they mentioned in the Pokedex that Zweilous has a dominant and non-dominant head, and when they evolve the dominant one becomes the main head of Hydreigon while the non dominant one splits into the two hand-like heads.

Blast and gleam the dark with moon and dazzle for maximum effect!

Absol is one of my favorite pokemon. When Absol mega evolves, it grows something similar to angel wings

Dark types are awesome and a great type for battling! More of these pokemon videos please! Merry christmas 🎄💖

"Pokémon do bad things because master bad."
-- Ekans
All hail Yveltal, the mighty Bacon Bird of death! Beware its salty, life-draining fury, and dispair!
I means it is nessesury evil.
If only xernias exist then none will be able to die and the ballence of the world will be one sided.
The reason the Dark and Steel-types were created in Gen 2 was because the Psychic-type was too powerful in Gen 1.
I'm a big fan of the dark type. They have cool designs and it was a great way to counter the once over power psychic types. My favorite would be Sneasel and his evolution Weavile, even if ice/dark is an awful defensive type lol
Guzzlord has a bit of funny reputation because unlike most pokemon it's cry in the anime is just a guy Screaming... literally just screams AHHHHHHH at all times which has kinda blunted it's pokedex entry a bit and made it more comedic than anything.
fun fact, Umbreon has the most "hits" among eeveelutions... it's not a fun fact, it's a curse and now you get to live with it.
He literally put out a video yesterday of explaining the types of the newest generation. That has 6 dogs!
Already added it to the playlist they’re using
“Incineroar was my favorite.”

LOVE you guys reacting to Pokemon stuff!! 🥰 It's one of the things that still relaxes me.
I always liked Sableye, the little goblin with gems in his eyes.

I have absolutely no idea why, but that very beginning with you and Bucky had me laughing HARD! I think it's because it was so unexpected.
Bucky in Ken's face was a great way to start the video 😂
Great video but some of the ways gnoggin said the pokemon names was killin me 😂

There can never be enough dog Pokemon. I wish there was at least one for all 18 types.
We really need a dog/canine starter Pokemon! There's 2 cat starters, where are the dogs
😂, I've been waiting for this one.
Just remember there are no "bad" types. Except in the meta of course.
Sweet. One of my favorite types in the Pokemon realms. 🖤🤘🏾
I like how you mentioned there are more dogs here, because after that video, there is another dark type dog in Gen 9 called Maschiff and Mabostiff
That was super interesting and entertaining actually! Was also great seeing your reactions to their names and appearances!
I can't watch this video with your dog growling the entire way through it

You should definitely watch the reset theroy videos
Please react to Animation vs Pokemon
Yay more Pokémon
