  • How to book cheap flights... dont use www.trip.com or any flight booking websites found on skyscanner, in this video I explain why and complain a bit about my customer experience with trip.com and skyscaner.

    UPDATE: A week after I posted this video, Trip.com reached out to me on Instagram and ended up providing great customer service ...finally, and I did get a full refund. I'm not sure I would have seen my money if I didn't make this video, but all due credit to Trip.com thanks for the refund. :D

    The key take away from this is book your flight for the date you want to travel and youll be fine....

      People make mistakes, but it genuinely takes seconds to double check you have the correct MONTH for something you’re spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars on..... 😂

      @@desdicadoric you might benefit on doing some reading on how your brain can change what you are reading to show you what you think is there, rather than what is there. Mistakes do happen, even when you don't want them too. I personally am very against companies that operate without any consumer protections. If this company was in Australia, its policies would be illegal.

      Not when you buy a ticket sold as non changeable non refundable my friend, if you’re a bit dim, buy an open ticket, not my problem as I don’t work there any more thank god.

    I’m with you on all your philosophies and conspiracies 😊I’m going to Madeira and Dolomites next month and I’m waiting a couple of days to see if they drop their prices to the initial price in the beginning.

    I just paid double to a travel agent to what I usually pay and double to what sky scanner says on its website. Idk if it’s cuz she was an apprentice or I left it a little late, but I’m not happy with this in this current climate of difficulty. I’m going to take a chance next time with sky scanner cuz that is ridiculous.

      Yes this is when you book a national trip and direct but if you are having an international flight you will surely have a problem

    No disrespect, but isn’t that your fault not sky scanner ? You’re the one that booked the wrong month by accident, if you done the right month there would have been no issues right ?

    yep make sure you dont enter your info anywhere on the sites either. i like to use them to my advantage by checking overall when cheap flights are and then I quickly go to the airlines websites to book one

    I use skyscammer and book through them but yeah of there’s a link to the airline I’ll use that even if it’s a bit more expensive. Occasionally with the budget airlines it doesn’t give that option and only then will I use an online agent.
    I do find skyscanner easier to navigate and use than Google flights or jetcost though.

    It depends on your start and end. The prices are NOT the same. The airline is much more expensive.... more than a couple of hundred dollars...far more...in my experience. The lesson I learned from your video is to make sure the dates and flights are wanted you want before pressing BOOK. Thank you for sharing your real-world experience.

    I want to go to Vietnam in July. Im scared if i go through third party i will loose if it gets cancelled through coronovirus. Maybe ill just pay a few hundred more and book direct. I live in Phoenix Arizona. Does anyone have any suggestions. Thanks everyone and God Bless

      This might be late but I’m Vietnamese and most hotels there have good rates if you just walk in. If you want to book ahead I suggest Agoda. They work with many hotels in the area. I’m stuck in Illinois now but hopefully we can go in 2022. 😃

    Hi. I have a kind of the same problem too. I bought a round trip ticket 900$ about a month ago and I used just one way. Now I want to change the returning date but they said it costs about 500$. They said it is their policy.

    What if they are somehow forcing you to take a voucher instead of a full refund? I am entitled for a full refund and they keep saying to me that I might get a voucher because of " Their Policies" . I spent 1400€ for this booking and they won't give me my money back.

    Yes but some flight don’t have multi city. And hence instead of booking separately cost me £900
    With sky scanner has multi city will cost 500 or 600 pins only!

    Booking directly is always the best option in general.

    Its not your error its them deliberate sistem by randomly picking in costumers fight reservations to change dates and hours of fights for cheap ones so they can get the difference of price to there pockets and sometimes then even get double reservations since they don't refund and usually we end up picking up other tickets by assuming that was our error!

      Happening to me with justfly. They changed the dates of my flight from April to may. having them on the phone to change the dates is a nightmare. Only sms. You ask them to what’s going on with your flight schedule, they.re like « oh sorry, the dates are set. we can’t help u with that. We can’t refund you, but if you want to change to April that’ll cost us $…%

    its your fault that you didnt read the TOS. it says clearly that you cannot change your flight information after booking hence the cheap price

    You call yourself a travel vlogger, but don't know airlines can't do anything if you booked through a OTA???
    That's standard and well known in the industry, even for accommodation properties, if the website doesn't allow you, the actual company that provides the service can't do anything.
    If you want good service, just book directly with the airline, pay full price, and stop whining.

      Im not sure, maybe I selected the wrong month but noticed literally as soon as I clicked the button so called to correct it

      There are few reviews that said they chose the correct date, but somehow after payments were done, the date changed. Was it a system glitch? We would never know because trip.com refused to do any further check on their system

      @@stefanoariestasia Yeah they said they checked it and it was my fault.... hard for me to know but since I called up within minutes of booking it seemed fair enough for them to just cancel it ... which after a massive run around and weeks of emails and one youtube video later ... they eventually did. But wasnt worth the effort thats for sure

    Got denied boarding because they said you don't need covid19 test result but ticket office had other ideas. In fact, even Turkish airline says you don't need it but because I booked via Trip they can't help.

    I got an airline ticket through MyTrip only to have the flight canceled by the airlline in which case I was entitled to a full refund as per the airline policy. However, MyTrip disregarded this policy and charged me instead penalties fee and reimbursed the differences months later. My recomendations is to ALWAYS buy an airline ticket directly from the airline but book hotels through agencies because you don't need to pay upfront and you have 24-48 hours to cancel the reservation.

    Thank you for the video!!!! That certainly helps people to avoid loosing their money by using theses online scammers. I don't know how theses scammers get away and keep having their website up. I will dedicated to become a hacker and get this bastard website down!!!

    I JUST booked a flight. It is actually the first flight I have ever booked myself. I am traveling in the United States only and realized that they don't have another option for ID type besides passport, but I put in my drivers license number for the ID. Is this okay?? Im VERY worried about that or the possibility that I just got scammed. Especially since I am flying only in the US and the company is from across the globe? What do you think!?

      I think you should be right, they will just pass on the information onto the airline, so 🤞 the airline are not jerks if they see that it was put as a "passport". But I think you should be fine. All the best with your trip and first flight!!

    Also mytrip is a total scam and should be avoided at all costs. My flight was cancelled by the airline 6 weeks ago, mytrip received the refund from the airline and they are telling me they will charge me 40 euro just to send the refund to me. Plus they will not refund any additional services like baggage and the EXTRA surcharge I paid them for customer support (I wonder what support I am receiving when I even need to pay in order to receive my refund). Today they even told me that I cancelled my booking myself, 6 weeks after I was supposed to fly, and that's why I need to pay 40 euro cancellation fee.... one month ago they had told me the fee was 15 euro.

    Yes i booked from sky scanner through my trip and i got lost 22.000 hongkong dollar right now!!!just because iam wrong to put surname supposed thats not big problem,, they can’t hrlp at all and i cancrl my ticket of 3 passengers 🤬

      @@pauzkiddy Hi Paul! Try to contact the airline first. Don't tell them that you booked through Trip.com/Skyscanner but just give them the reference or booking number of your flight. Got mine refunded. 😜 Good luck to you!

Something to try later on that might take a long time is report your experience to airhelp.com they might be able to help you get some compensation (they will take their cut) but they might have more luck than you going head to head with the airline.       If the agent was not so much cheaper I am sure everybody would book directly with the airline. But the differences are huuuuuuge, what makes us to prefer agents.

    Travelocity is good and I got a open ticket when the airport flooded at my destination so they really went to bat with me and put pressure on the airline to do this for me.

      I havnt used that one so couldn't say but from my experience with all the others they seem very similar and the catch will probably still be the same

      I have used traveloka quite a lot, and would recommend it. Your ticket get issued almost immediately

    Ive just had an email from this company . because one letter was missing from my surname on booking (that was not my mistake ) they have contacted the airline and the airline says they cant change the ticket , its non refundable .
