One of the toughest documentaries I’ve ever watched. There are high highs and the lowest of lows. It’s a horrible thing for her to have to deal with in this life. This show also showed me just how humble she is and how she really just cares about her fans. Here’s to a road to recovery for her and she can get back to doing what she loves.
Celine is a legend in so many ways, especially for being kind, respectful and humble. She has a enormous legacy in music, movies, series and interviews, everything comes to an end she said singing is the only thing I know; but she is battling with her voice since 2017, as she said I cannot hide the truth anymore and I lied; that's is brave from her. In a world where auto tune command recordings in studios, and on concerts she performerd with her voice the entire shows. Losing Renè and her brother right after took a toll on her, she lost way too much weight, she was on the brink of anorexia, as a long time fan, I noticed the difference in her voice, thought it was okay, it was shocking to see her having seizures, but also brave, her diagnosis of one in one million is rare, I have a tumor that appear one in 100.000. We need to learn with our diseases and disabilities and continue to live and be happy as possible. My wishes of strength and health as much as possible to Celine and other patients around the globe, who don't have the same conditions to pay for all medicines, professionals, exams. That was quite heartbreaking to watch. Good for her letting this be broadcast to let people know what is going on with her health. I can’t think of many iconic mega stars allowing this to happen.
I just watched Isaiah Robin’s podcast on Celine Dion’s child/satanic commercial. I really liked Celine Dion until I saw something evil she is involved in. I believe she is being punished by God.

What are you defined by if not by what you love most and are passionate about? You seem to be confused about what having an identity actually means. Music is something that a lot of people have as part of their identity. It’s certainly part of who I am. I am not a professional singer for my career, but sang since childhood. Music is very much a part of me and my identity, and always has been. I am now disabled by a progressive disease, and can no longer engage in music like I once did, but it’s no less a part of me, and it has been hard to not be able to experience music in the ways I used to in the past. But even still, it is absolutely part of my identity, along with the other things that bring me joy and fulfillment. Celine Dion is one of the most talented musical artists of all time. It has been a lifelong devotion for her, and has guided the entire course of her life. She would not be the same person had music not been her life focus. That, again, is the definition of identity. It’s so much bigger than a career. Her passion for music is how she met her beloved late husband, it’s how she ended up with her two children, and it’s carried her through so many trials. It’s not, nor has ever been, a “9 to 5” career for her that she leaves at the office, it has enriched and is intertwined in all aspects of her life. Of course that’s naturally going to be a massive part of her identity! You say it as if it is a bad thing that she identifies herself with music. Music has given her a beautiful life. Her husband, her children, friendships, financial stability, and pure joy, purpose and fulfillment. That being a massive part of her identity is not a negative thing at all. Does music/singing being a large part of her identity make living with the impact of her disease harder? That would be up to her to decide. But I know from experience that it is excruciatingly hard regardless of your identity. Having abilities and passions stolen from you by your health sucks. So whether it’s singing, or some other life passion, it all hurts the same to lose. No matter what she identifies with/as, it won’t make living with a progressive illness any easier or harder than it already is. Lastly, in no way is singing, music or her career her entire identity. She has always been extremely vocal about her devotion and love for her late husband and two sons. They take first place in her world, music following closely behind. And there is nothing wrong with any of that. None of it makes what she is going through any worse than it already is.
I also live with MS, we have good days and had days. I was so happy for Celine that through her hard work and perseverance she fought to get to Paris, her performance was amazing. 🤗🤗🤗
I also live with MS, I was diagnosed at 17 in 2008 and lost my biggest passion thaiboxing to it- so the vulnerability she shows here I found very amazing. I also had a MS attack in 2016 when I was involved in a medical trial (fampyra) and it triggered an MS attack of these cramp attacks on my entire left side- the last part of the docu shown here felt like a dejavu to a very unpleasant time. After a month of about 7 to 10 of those cramps my body was so exhausted and in agony.

Knowing Celine I just don’t buy it. If she was willing to fake then why didn’t she fake her shows in Vegas but risked her life taking Valium
I love all of her songs even when she sings in French. I don't understand but it sounds beautiful what comes out of her mouth. I love her for her personality and her good heart. She sings so beautiful. She to me is beautiful. Great taste in everything she wears. Always properly dressed. She never competed with anyone. She was unique. I cried when she lost the battle. It breaks my heart to see her in pain. I can't hold the tears. There's only one Celine like Whitney Huston and Selena. These singers are so much missed but never forgotten. 😢 ❤
As a nurse it was hard to see Celine suffering like that, it broke my heart. She is incredibly brave to show this vulnerable side to the world to shine light on this rare disease. I hope and pray that it generates more research of this disease. ❤️
I completed most of my classes on psychology just to learn about myself, but the reason she allows strangers to view her demise is she still needs that audience whether it’s good or bad. She has performed for so long. I think most of her life, especially in Las Vegas over 20 years and to top it off that theater was built specifically for her to perform at. There is a pattern and in our subconscience that influences our desires that’s why you hear people say why did I do that? Why did I think about that? Why did I say that? There are lots of songwriters that can sing, but they do not like performing in front of large crowds so they write songs for others to sing and that’s How they make their money
they need to repair her gut, very simple, stop pumping her with drugs without replenishing her microbiome that the so called "medications" have destroyed leading to the autoimmune disease, but will you even pay attention to my comment, no because you were trained to believe in a sick care system that makes trillions of dollars for the pharmaceutical industry!
I love how when she talked about how good she was in the past, you immediately said she is in the current present tense. I used to play the flute quite a lot. Around 12 years ago, I had jaw surgery and completely lost the ability to play. It genuinely broke me. I can't imagine how she feels. I was finally able to play last month and I feel damn lucky.
I’m so glad you are able to play again; it’s a gift you will never take for granted. I have a “rare” disease, hEDS, that is being diagnosed over and over. I became disabled over a number of years. I was managed to work until I was 40 hiding the pain. I finally had to fight for disability when I simply hurt too much to move. I will never take for granted the rare day I am nearly pain free.

I made a difference to all ages through Massage Therapy until a negligent driver stripped me of the best version Ever of myself and I die inside my soul each time a new rare damn issue strikes my hands, wrists, arms and keeps crawling like a sick sadistic creature over all of my body consuming it without first waiting for me to be unalived. Bloody Rude eh?! And you, You DO know how Celine feels because the very core of yourself stared into the bottomless black pit of losing the most magical version of yourself. I don't doubt that Celine would celebrate your most joyfully blessed return to your flute! I also thank Celine for donating to a research foundation at UCH, which will only benefit all of us with SPS. Celine, you are my shero. It had to be hard to let the world in, but you did it, and in doing so, you’ve helped all of us with this dreadful disease. Im from Québec. I am a fan of Céline since my birth, her home was 15 minutes from mine. I saw her show many times. Her french CD Deux is one of the best. Difficult to choose one song. ONLY ONE ROAD is one that I love the most. I am a classical singer with a master degree. I was diagnost fibromyalgie since 14 years. I lost my career and my chance to be mom. I cried my life when I saw Céline in pain. I felt her reality. My voice, my body, my life, everythings change. I understand her. I cried hard! She sang at the JO and she gave me hope. I used to be a ballroom dancer, I have kinda an opposite, like Gumby body genetic Ehlers Danlos syndrome a connective tissue disorder, with that several dozen com morbidities including ME/ CFS, plus POTS MCAS, chronic pain, basically long covid conditions I have lived with for years, neurological, cognitive bleeding disorders etc. if I had money my health could be different. But I have to support my self entirely as I’m on my own, so I have no choice. And yes we are all ALONE!
jo-anna, same here: classical ballet, swimmer, diver, gymnast, landscaper, contractor until chronic fatigue / lyme / fibromyalgia got me almost 20 years ago. Bedridden almost all the time. Thank God for laptops and the internet to keep my mind alive.
I moved to Central America where I coud afford assistance since I can't do much myself. Huge life change but impossible to stay economically in the U.S.
As someone with Hereditary Spastic Paraparesis and Epilepsy, I identified a lot with what Celine Dion is going through. I admire her so much for being brave enough to let people see the truth of Stiff Person Syndrome, as watching spastic neuromuscular diseases like ours in full force is pretty brutal. The whole thing can be isolating, and it's amazing of her to admit that and bring awareness to how the disease affects people as a whole, and they're not just a list of symptoms
We need to bring more attention to conditions big pharma doesn't want to research because they're rare and thus not profitable. Smaller labs have to see these things to know what they need to look into.

It’s one thing seeing others going through seizures…yet it’s quite another of needing other expertise of medical professionals who needs to see what’s happening with a confirmed degenerative disease that may causes complications with seized-like symptoms that involved fallings. People are in denial because they do not want to hear about an accidental related incident that caused other complications or injuries. It’s brutal to work through with recovery and trying to earn money and cannot work out any finances that related to higher education especially communication barriers and and breakdowns with income/disabilities for teachers’

@@rc653 sometimes, yes. But there is a condition where people's muscles pretty turn into stone. You stay that way for the rest of your life, so before it fully takes over, you have to decide how you want to be positioned once it completely takes over. There's no cure and no way to slow it down.

@@Ok_Friend-il9of I have fibromyalgia too. It is such a beast to manage! If Cymbalta is effective or you have side effects, look into Savella and Lyrica. Lyrica is the one that has helped me the most. It doesn't take all of the pain away, but it is able to turn the pain receptors dial down. Also finding a good physical therapist that can help you safely strengthen your body can be a game changer, as can myofascial release.
I am a retired flight nurse with RSD/CRPS stage 4. Many of her symptoms are SIMILAR to mine. Losing everything that was important to me - like her losing her beautiful instrument/her voice was the hardest part of starting life completely over; in a completely different way. It’s more painful than the dis-ease itself. I completely empathize with her, because I am living it. She, like most women, is extraordinarily strong, even at her weakest point. Suffering is very hard work. Praying for her and anyone else affected by these horrific diseases/syndromes. Blessings!
I also have RSD/CRPS (mostly in remission) but also have FMD(beaded arteries) caused a stroke..and I have spells very similar to Celine's as well. Valium no longer worked for me so have been on Lorazapam for three years. Had no idea 1mg was = to 10mg valium...if I took 10 mg valium I would be feeling fantastic lol, but asleep.
Imagine having this without millions of dollars to spend on the best meds and the best doctors and 24-7 whatever you need care. Horrific. Health care is a human right.

I never understood the extent of the health issue she had until now. It brought tears. To lose a sense of self has to be very difficult just to wake up. I hope she finds her voice again, but if it is gone, she still remains one of the greatest vocalist of all time. ❤️🙏🏼
That was heartbreaking to watch. Just the helplessness she must feel. I can't even imagine how much strength and courage it must take to make this documentary and allow a camera team to film all of this. Especially the crisis at the end. So much vulnerabilty that will be seen by thousands of people. Wanting to let the fans know the full reality. It's extremely touching. Hard to find the right words.
Being able and willing to show herself as so vulnerable, dependent on pills, suffering acute pain and, let’s be honest, the physical devastation that makes her look much older and totally unglamorous - that’s a true act of courage and mental strength on her part. In one interviews after her husband has passed away she said that she realised that she was subconsciously convincing herself that once she would achieve a certain level of success she would never have to fear or long for anything. Loosing her husband has crushed that sense of security and pushed her deep into depression. I can only imagine how difficult it must have been for her to also loose her health. Many people have little pity for the rich and famous and I can understand why - when money could solve all your problems it's easy to forget that the most important things cannot truly be bought. It only becomes apparent when you start loosing them. Celine can suffer in privacy and luxury but she's still suffering without her husband she loved so much there to comfort her and for that, I genuinely feel sorry for her. Not only that - the disease is taking away her voice, her talent she built her fame and fortune on - I cannot begin to comprehend (as decidedly talentless and fame-less person) how difficult it must be for her. Love of her fans is not enough (and boy,is fame a fickle mistress) to keep her from feeling alone. We can't hug her and tell her we're going to be there for her no matter what - I hope she has wonderful friends that will. She seems like a kind soul.

And the rest of her fmaily is very, very far away and honestly none of us know (nor should we, for that matter) how good a relationship she still has with any of them. She may have had to cut back whatever social circle she has so. All the money in the world can't cure loneliness. Don't pretend it can. You're surrounded by sharks who only want to be around you to get into the will. That's it. If money were everything, why do so many fmaous people fall into depression and addiction? Loneliness. Because everybody wants their money. If you had all that money, you would likely be just as lonely.
What you wrote is mostly true; but the fact that she is wealthy (while it does not prevent her suffering or cure her syndrome) provides her with the ability to have the best one-on-one medical care 24/7. This is something few of us could have. It pains me to see her suffering. I get muscle spasms from a health condition, but they are not nearly so severe as Celine's. But I know how painful and debilitating they are. My thoughts are with her.
I love your compassion. Most doctors want to write a prescription and shove the patient out the door. They never look at the patient. It's like they are blind. Thanks for not being that way.
The deep connection she created with anyone that ever struggled with the loss of something that gave them joy… she is incredibly brave and vulnerable to release this. I lost my ability to run at age 18, I have a rare genetic malformation of the leg muscles that cut off blood supply to the lower legs. It happened 6 months after I started running for fun. I loved the speed, the wind, the controlled breathing, the euphoria. Then it was gone, I would get extreme muscle cramps if I ran longer than 100 yards, maybe less, it’s hard to remember exactly. I had two surgeries to correct it, the hope and the joy lasted 2 years before it failed. I had a long recovery for those two surgeries so again I was back to running for 8-9 months before I had the same symptoms. To say I was crushed is an understatement. I was walking to my college class when I felt it and I’m not sure why I stayed in class because I was just sobbing quietly until the class was over. That feeling of ‘all hope is lost’ was worse than anything that came before it, the testing, the surgeries, the recovery… the loss of hope that the surgeries had “fixed” me - that’s the worse part. I still have my legs, I have good blood flow if I’m walking, but any increased need for blood flow, I get a leg cramp. It’s been over 20 years since I’ve lost this ability, and the disappointment is better, but not gone. I’ve had to get a lot of therapy to process it all. I wanted to comment because the way you described her process of healing was on the mark completely. I also appreciate the medical explanation of everything she was going through. I think people that don’t have a chronic illness or pain or limitation cannot fully get it - which I think is a blessing that they don’t have to experience the mental/emotional pain; but so many people have judgements about medications and that’s the tough part to understand unless you are in a body that is constantly revolting against you.

I was recently diagnosed with a chronic disease which I have been suffering symptoms of.. for almost 10 years now... there is so much grief on how you were to the person you are now. Its not easy to process at all... therapy or talking about this loss... is key and valid. And accepting who we are now with our limitations is not easy either and the need to fight and seek joy being the person we are now can be a hard process but I believe we can get there... one day at a time. Sending my best wishes to you and lots of support to anybody fighting chronic illnesses... I know we can. will find joy again in the small positive things in this new life of ours.
I watched Celine's documentary and it brought me to tears to see her suffering, physically the pain and emotionally feeling helpless and how very sad she is that she hasn't been able to sing, and be with her audiences. Celine is a very brave person and no matter what happens she will always be one of the greatest singers in the world. God bless and give her strength and comfort.

I have a long term chronic illness that has only been diagnosed the past 6 years. I am 59 and have been suffering from it my whole life…it progressively got worse. I have been gaslighted and treated horribly by so many doctors over the years and even still now. And because the doctors didn’t understand and said it was all psychological or they couldn’t find anything wrong, my family thought it was also. The PTSD and stress from a long term illness is so real. I sobbed watching this, because I know exactly the loss she is feeling! I was amazing! I raised 5 beautiful kids, ran a successful company and rocked my husband’s world for 30 of our 38 years. Now he hast to take care of me and it’s devastating! Thank you for sharing this Celine!
I’m in the same position. I have two chronic illnesses that are only going to get worse. I’m managing the symptoms for now but who knows when they’ll get out of control again. It took me 11 years to get my diagnosis for them, and I absolutely agree with you about the process causing PTSD. In my case, it’s CPTSD because of other things that have happened during my life. Me too, I have been suffering from chronic pain conditions for over 25 years. I too was treated with such disrespect from many doctors. It took 10 years to get a diagnosis. The specialist I saw diagnosed me within 10 minutes. He really couldn’t help me much, but just having a name for my condition, and having someone hear me and believe in me was such a relief for me. These chronic diseases rob us of our lives and the joys we once knew. We just have to carry on the best we can and surround ourselves with positive people and things we love. I try to stay positive, but sometimes I have a “Pity Me Day” , as it can be stressful fighting and struggling to get through each and every day. Celine is amazing. She is also lucky to have the best care possible. She is living with a horrendous illness. I watched this video after watching Celine’s performance for the Paris Olympic open Ceremonies. It makes her amazing performance quite herculean and I had no idea how debilitating her condition really is. Thank you so much for talking us through her treatments.
I loved her before this documentary and it just made me love her so much more. Her humility, her honesty, and her shared human experience with chronic illness is only a small fraction of her story. I pray her joy and ability to connect with others can resume soon.
Considering that Celine has thousands of songs at this point I can't really choose one!! One of the many reasons we love Celine is that she has always been an open book and NEVER a diva! It's good to see that she has improved a lot since this was filmed! She still has the ability to sing and she herself has said that she's at about 90% now!

It breaks my heart to see her this way. She was born into a musical family, named "song." For her to lose that part of herself has got to be worse than devastating.

I admire her unselfish courage. She is so well known that her openness about her condition must throw a huge spotlight on the disease to help attract funding for research. And it will help us all have more understanding and compassion for people with chronic illness.
The part of the documentary that really got me was when she was talking about her voice and she said “I think I was very good” and the pride mixed with sadness broke my heart. I’ve loved her since I was a child, it’s devastating to see her go through this.
I had seen this video of her spasms before, but not this one with all your very detailed commentary. I so appreciate it and your deep compassion which is so evident.
My son-in-law, an African American male suffers from this same condition. He has been suffering from this syndrome for over five years now. It is a horrible thing to watch whenever he has an episode. He had a doctor's appointment once, and my daughter had to have the doctor come out to their parked SUV with a gurney to bring him into the hospital. It had hit him out of nowhere when he was driving home from work. My heart aches when I see him going through it when his body shakes and writhes uncontrollably. We live in Baltimore, and he is being treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital there is little that they know to do. People, count your blessings and thank God that if you still have a reasonable portion of health and strength. Watching her hurts my heart and brings tears to my eyes. I will pray for her.
All By Myself gave me full body chills the first time I heard it...and continues to do so to this very day. I have seen her perform this live in concert - so to see the effects of this disease on such a vocal titan is soul-shattering to see. 😢

I'm not gonna compare what she's going through with my life, but when she shows and explains what happens to her when she tries to sing... that hit me hard. Gymnastics was my life for years. All I knew was gymnastics. I got injured, never recovered. To look at what I was able to do that I could do no more, broke me. I did therapy for years. I know that feeling. I was good thou, she IS still phenomenal.
I have been there, but with volleyball. When something has been your purpose for so long and when your body rebels against it, your whole life changes. It's more than just a game or a sport. It's something we have been doing since childhood and what has defined us for so long. Mine came before my Olympic tryout. It was devastating and I turned to substances I shouldn't have. Thankfully, my family got me the support and help I needed to get clean. The mind part of the issue takes the longest to address. I wish you all the best. 💜
I did have an autoimmune disorder. One of the symptoms was intense, unlocalized and painful back spasms. The others were asthma attacks and severe depression. The naturopath gave me vitamins. The psychiatrist gave me SSRIs. I was given muscle relaxants for the spasms. None of these treatments worked. The only clue I had was that eggs gave me severe asthma attacks right away. I decided to take two delayed food allergy tests. NO doctor asked me about my diet. It turned out that four foods were behind all of the symptoms. All four gave me severe depression. The sunflower seeds also gave me the back spasms. I stopped all of these for good, and all of the symptoms left. I did slip a few times, only to have to wait three brutal days for my immune system to calm down. By good fortune, I developed severe breathlessness one day. I had no choice but to take antibiotics. I was given three of them. It got rid of a sinus infection, and it did a clean sweep of my gut. I craved yogurt for weeks after that clean sweep, even though I hate yogurt. After all this the depression was gone, the back spasms were gone, and the asthma attacks were gone. They have never come back since.
It's pretty crazy how food allergies can show up! My eczema was caused by a tomato allergy and I kept getting told to use steroids until I got fed up and did an elimination diet where I figured out that within 24 hours of eating tomatoes my hands would swell, burn and itch.
This documentary broke my heart. To imagine losing your ability to do the one thing you love most in the world. She really conveyed that raw feeling of grief. I can’t pick a favorite song. The magic is in her voice - but really her soul.
Thank you for bringing this heart wrenching documentary. To watch Celine Dion struggle and feeling so lost without her music, her vocal instrument, is absolutely heart breaking. I admire her for coming out publicly to show the extent of SPS.

In absolute tears! Celine was so brave to share this with us. We never would have known what someone with SPS has to go through. If it turns out that she will never be able to sing/perform again it will never take away the kind, gentle and caring soul she is. We have her amazing music and talent available to inspire us. This is devastating/ horrendous for Celine but it does not take away what an amazing soul she is and we will always be thankful that she shared her talent and life with us.
Documentaries about people with rare diseases can sometimes be exploitative. They are regular people saddled with huge medical bills and then a TV show offers to share intimate details. I love how this cannot be exploitative, because Celine can afford her treatments. She likely had ultimate control over the cuts chosen for the docu. This is a woman sharing her deepest intimacies, purely out of choice, and likely for the same motivation as one shares intimacies while singing.
@@personincognito3989Our health care isn’t free in Canada. We fund it partially through our taxes, which rank around 25th highest of all countries in the world. Also, dental and prescription drugs are not generally covered. For every service someone receives, they or someone else has paid for it somewhere along the line.

I live in Victoria, BC and people can wait 5-10 years before finding a doctor. Yes, we have walk in clinics but those are full for the day, before they even open in the morning. People use on line apps like Telus Health or a few other ones.😢
What’s unfair about it? She’s a wonderful singer-one of the best; however, she’s human. She talks about herself as though she’s untouchable. Maybe this is humbling her to come to terms with whatever she needs to be at peace-we just don’t know. We all have things to deal with and she isn’t exempt.

That scene by the end of the documentary where she has a crisis was gut-wrenching. As someone who's hypersensitive, I felt her pain as if I were there. I had to stop for a second as I was crying, it felt visceral
This absolutely had me in tears when I watched it. When she had the seizure I cried. I hope she knows how much we love her. I’ve seen her live 4 times. The first time in 1997. ❤ My all time favorite songs “Because you loved me” and “Fly”. I hope to be able to see her again. I’m praying for her. ❤
“It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” I used to belt that song out when I was younger. I loved it and loved singing it, but also loved “singing it with her”. She wasn’t just a voice to me, she was a powerhouse of a soul. Not like the rest. This was so hard to watch because I can understand how she feels and what that feels like. To watch you listen to her speak and through your own video, you hear her voice and push to say to her, “But you ARE!” broke me. To see the love behind what you said speaks volumes for everyone like you saying the same thing hearing that. She is a voice, but she is so much more. Hopefully she sees that and feels it someday. It could bring her some peace to know that people see her and love her and stand behind her knowing that is she the soul behind that voice. She’s not alone. We are here for her!
As a Canadian, I remember hearing Celine Dion's music during the late 1980's, before she became a world-wide celebrity. My heart always breaks a little when I hear Because You Loved Me. She wrote it for her late husband, as I'm sure you know. Nowadays, at least in North America, it seems to be rare to see that kind of commitment between a couple. On a different note, I'm a person who is living with cerebral palsy. This condition primarily effects my legs and I occasionally get muscle spasms which are decidedly unpleasant. They are nothing of this magnitude, though. Stay mentally strong, Celine.
Extremely heartbreaking 💔 she's an amazing and a very brave woman. My heart goes out to her. Ever since I was a child, I have listened to her music. I have a couple of favorites, but all of her music is great. The top two for me would be "River deep mountain high" and "I love you." It is also so touching to me through her pain, fear and bone crushing disappointment in this illness, she still has the heart to show people through witness and education what any handicapped person goes through daily they DON’T broadcast to strive to be as normal as possible in an abnormal situation. As I am a permanently disabled person with chronic pain, she’s a hero to me to use her celebrity to bring awareness of what goes on. People assume too much how hard it really is. I watched the documentary before I listened to your commentary and I think you've done an excellent job in identifying the process Celine is experiencing.
I’m so impressed with Celine that she would allow all of us to see her at her most vulnerable. My prayers are with her and hope for a recovery or at least semi control.
I watched the documentary and I was genuinely upset about it. I have a severe injury to my neck; discectomies, laminectomies later and not being able to work for twenty years and nineteen items on my prescription I could empathise with Celine. My muscle spasms are awful and the nerve pain is exquisitely perfect...Everyone, friends, family, all fucked off at tremendous speed. My brother lives a hundred yards away and he's been in my house once in twenty years because his printer had broken.

Do you ask him for help ? Maybe he thinks if he sees you walking etc that things are ok. Sometimes we have to ask or others might not know. My one sis has fibromyalgia but she never ever talks about it. She works full time , goes to church every Sunday and babysits for a young girl on. Saturdays and plays board games with her friends 1-2 times a week. We have no idea if she ever needs help bc she never talks about it and is always busy. So we assume she is doing ok unless she asks !
I cried so hard watching this documentary. She’s been in our lives for such a long time and watching her struggle so badly was just absolutely devastating. Such a beautiful strong woman. Even just seeing her be so sad and feel so worthless because she can’t use her voice the way she wants to was just devastating!

Celine is so much more than her voice. Her singing is what made everyone aware of her. I hope she knows that she'll always be loved and remembered for the joy she brought to so many people with her grace and talent on stage. Also her humble and beautiful personality during interactions when being interviewed and with fans. Her identity doesn't stop there. She's a mom, wife, sister, and I'm sure, friend, to her nearest and dearest. She employs many people. Her philanthropy, accolades, and humanitarianism is a list of things a mile long. Plus now she's bringing awareness to this rare disorder. She is DEFINITELY more than her voice! That was a tool that gave her the resources to do everything she's done around the world and she used it well! My hope is these awful episodes lessen or they find a way to make them stop as soon as they start so she can live the rest of her life without fear of losing herself in the pain, stress, and depression of this terrifying diagnosis. As far as my favorite song......I don't have one. As soon as she sings one note of any song, I turn the volume up, dance and sing like no one's watching....or listening! 😊❤
Her entire catalog is my favorite. I adore her. I learned French because of her music. This was shot in 2021. She’s much more stable now. She was singing fantastically in her NBC interview.
As a fan, and a human being, my heart absolutely breaks for her. She lost the absolute love of her life, and now is forced to endure this awful diagnosis. As a RN. I am also absolutely fascinated and empathetic, and I wish I could take it away for her. I really appreciate that you said we need to not only treat the s/sx, but we also need to treat the person as an individual. You are so right. Working in the healthcare field, I regularly see us medical staff treat the s/sx, while forgetting our patients are humans who love, laugh, cry, have hobbies, have passions, and dreams. Have loved ones who count on them, and the list goes on. The mental torment she must be enduring on a daily basis is unimaginable. To be given so much, and to then lose it all. My heart goes out to her.
I have endometriosis and a few other comorbidities that kept me very close to home for three years. Not being able to work and having to spend so much time and effort to get my body to be not terrible was exhausting and quite depressing. It takes away so much of what feels like your identity - I can imagine that pain and hurt must be so high for Celine Dion. I appreciate her sharing her experience of an autoimmune disease with us all - it takes a lot of courage, and while her disease is rare, chronic and severe health conditions are not. And she really shows the fullness of the person that continues to exist despite the challenges and limitations that health issues can bring.
I work in plasma donation. On average we get 90-120 people a day; it’s said in the documentary it takes between 1,000-15,000 people to make ONE BAG of medication! We need more plasma donors and I really wish it would drop the stigma that only addicts and homeless donate (they can’t per the FDA!). I can’t beg people enough to visit your local plasma center and see if you’re eligible to donate. It helps people, like Celine, and helps you too as it pays a bit of money in return for your time.

Here in the States, specifically in and around Chicago, there are only 3, yes, THREE plasma centers. 2 of the 3 are in high crime, low income neighborhoods. My best friend donated plasma throughout college to make extra money for car fuel and she said there were many addicts and homeless people that would donate plasma. A person could get paid anywhere from $30-$70 per donation. After Covid and the vaccine came, they'd pay extra if you recently had been infected or had been vaccinated just so they'd have the antibodies @DH_CR7078
I spent years training as an opera singer but eventually decided that wasn't a career that I wanted to pursue. After I made that decision I didn't sing for years because I felt like I didn't deserve to after I walked away from it and I missed it terribly. Clearly never at the level that Celine was but I can sympathise with losing something you love so much even if mine was self inflicted. It's heartbreaking. One of the toughest documentaries I’ve ever watched. There are high highs and the lowest of lows. It’s a horrible thing for her to have to deal with in this life. This show also showed me just how humble she is and how she really just cares about her fans. Here’s to a road to recovery for her and she can get back to doing what she loves.
Celine is a legend in so many ways, especially for being kind, respectful and humble.
She has a enormous legacy in music, movies, series and interviews, everything comes to an end she said singing is the only thing I know; but she is battling with her voice since 2017, as she said I cannot hide the truth anymore and I lied; that's is brave from her.
In a world where auto tune command recordings in studios, and on concerts she performerd with her voice the entire shows.
Losing Renè and her brother right after took a toll on her, she lost way too much weight, she was on the brink of anorexia, as a long time fan, I noticed the difference in her voice, thought it was okay, it was shocking to see her having seizures, but also brave, her diagnosis of one in one million is rare, I have a tumor that appear one in 100.000.
We need to learn with our diseases and disabilities and continue to live and be happy as possible.
My wishes of strength and health as much as possible to Celine and other patients around the globe, who don't have the same conditions to pay for all medicines, professionals, exams.

Music is something that a lot of people have as part of their identity. It’s certainly part of who I am. I am not a professional singer for my career, but sang since childhood. Music is very much a part of me and my identity, and always has been. I am now disabled by a progressive disease, and can no longer engage in music like I once did, but it’s no less a part of me, and it has been hard to not be able to experience music in the ways I used to in the past. But even still, it is absolutely part of my identity, along with the other things that bring me joy and fulfillment.
Celine Dion is one of the most talented musical artists of all time. It has been a lifelong devotion for her, and has guided the entire course of her life. She would not be the same person had music not been her life focus. That, again, is the definition of identity. It’s so much bigger than a career. Her passion for music is how she met her beloved late husband, it’s how she ended up with her two children, and it’s carried her through so many trials. It’s not, nor has ever been, a “9 to 5” career for her that she leaves at the office, it has enriched and is intertwined in all aspects of her life. Of course that’s naturally going to be a massive part of her identity!
You say it as if it is a bad thing that she identifies herself with music. Music has given her a beautiful life. Her husband, her children, friendships, financial stability, and pure joy, purpose and fulfillment. That being a massive part of her identity is not a negative thing at all.
Does music/singing being a large part of her identity make living with the impact of her disease harder? That would be up to her to decide. But I know from experience that it is excruciatingly hard regardless of your identity. Having abilities and passions stolen from you by your health sucks. So whether it’s singing, or some other life passion, it all hurts the same to lose. No matter what she identifies with/as, it won’t make living with a progressive illness any easier or harder than it already is.
Lastly, in no way is singing, music or her career her entire identity. She has always been extremely vocal about her devotion and love for her late husband and two sons. They take first place in her world, music following closely behind. And there is nothing wrong with any of that. None of it makes what she is going through any worse than it already is.
I live with multiple sclerosis. I'm grateful Celine put a spotlight on invisible chronic illness. She's a courageous warrior.

I was so happy for Celine that through her hard work and perseverance she fought to get to Paris, her performance was amazing. 🤗🤗🤗
I also live with MS, I was diagnosed at 17 in 2008 and lost my biggest passion thaiboxing to it- so the vulnerability she shows here I found very amazing. I also had a MS attack in 2016 when I was involved in a medical trial (fampyra) and it triggered an MS attack of these cramp attacks on my entire left side- the last part of the docu shown here felt like a dejavu to a very unpleasant time. After a month of about 7 to 10 of those cramps my body was so exhausted and in agony.
I JUST SAW HER PERFORMANCE AT THE OLYMPICS AND IT BROUGHT ME TO TEARS KNOWING WHAT SHE SUFFERS. GOD BLESS YOU CELINE!

I completed most of my classes on psychology just to learn about myself, but the reason she allows strangers to view her demise is she still needs that audience whether it’s good or bad. She has performed for so long. I think most of her life, especially in Las Vegas over 20 years and to top it off that theater was built specifically for her to perform at. I love how when she talked about how good she was in the past, you immediately said she is in the current present tense. I used to play the flute quite a lot. Around 12 years ago, I had jaw surgery and completely lost the ability to play. It genuinely broke me. I can't imagine how she feels. I was finally able to play last month and I feel damn lucky.

I’m so glad you are able to play again; it’s a gift you will never take for granted. I have a “rare” disease, hEDS, that is being diagnosed over and over. I became disabled over a number of years. I was managed to work until I was 40 hiding the pain. I finally had to fight for disability when I simply hurt too much to move. I will never take for granted the rare day I am nearly pain free.

I used to be a ballroom dancer, I have kinda an opposite, like Gumby body genetic Ehlers Danlos syndrome a connective tissue disorder, with that several dozen com morbidities including ME/ CFS, plus POTS MCAS, chronic pain, basically long covid conditions I have lived with for years, neurological, cognitive bleeding disorders etc. if I had money my health could be different. But I have to support my self entirely as I’m on my own, so I have no choice. And yes we are all ALONE!
jo-anna, same here: classical ballet, swimmer, diver, gymnast, landscaper, contractor until chronic fatigue / lyme / fibromyalgia got me almost 20 years ago. Bedridden almost all the time. Thank God for laptops and the internet to keep my mind alive.
I moved to Central America where I coud afford assistance since I can't do much myself. Huge life change but impossible to stay economically in the U.S.
As someone with Hereditary Spastic Paraparesis and Epilepsy, I identified a lot with what Celine Dion is going through. I admire her so much for being brave enough to let people see the truth of Stiff Person Syndrome, as watching spastic neuromuscular diseases like ours in full force is pretty brutal. The whole thing can be isolating, and it's amazing of her to admit that and bring awareness to how the disease affects people as a whole, and they're not just a list of symptoms

It’s one thing seeing others going through seizures…yet it’s quite another of needing other expertise of medical professionals who needs to see what’s happening with a confirmed degenerative disease that may causes complications with seized-like symptoms that involved fallings. People are in denial because they do not want to hear about an accidental related incident that caused other complications or injuries. It’s brutal to work through with recovery and trying to earn money and cannot work out any finances that related to higher education especially communication barriers and and breakdowns with income/disabilities for teachers’

@@rc653 sometimes, yes. But there is a condition where people's muscles pretty turn into stone. You stay that way for the rest of your life, so before it fully takes over, you have to decide how you want to be positioned once it completely takes over. There's no cure and no way to slow it down.

Same here, it’s so frustrating finding help. Since it can’t be test everyone is a skeptic. But I was told Cymbalta helps with nerve pain. I’m hoping it’ll help me!
@@Ok_Friend-il9of I have fibromyalgia too. It is such a beast to manage! If Cymbalta is effective or you have side effects, look into Savella and Lyrica. Lyrica is the one that has helped me the most. It doesn't take all of the pain away, but it is able to turn the pain receptors dial down. Also finding a good physical therapist that can help you safely strengthen your body can be a game changer, as can myofascial release.

I am a retired flight nurse with RSD/CRPS stage 4. Many of her symptoms are SIMILAR to mine. Losing everything that was important to me - like her losing her beautiful instrument/her voice was the hardest part of starting life completely over; in a completely different way. It’s more painful than the dis-ease itself. I completely empathize with her, because I am living it. She, like most women, is extraordinarily strong, even at her weakest point. Suffering is very hard work. Praying for her and anyone else affected by these horrific diseases/syndromes. Blessings!

I also have RSD/CRPS (mostly in remission) but also have FMD(beaded arteries) caused a stroke..and I have spells very similar to Celine's as well. Valium no longer worked for me so have been on Lorazapam for three years. Had no idea 1mg was = to 10mg valium...if I took 10 mg valium I would be feeling fantastic lol, but asleep.
Imagine having this without millions of dollars to spend on the best meds and the best doctors and 24-7 whatever you need care. Horrific. Health care is a human right.

In one interviews after her husband has passed away she said that she realised that she was subconsciously convincing herself that once she would achieve a certain level of success she would never have to fear or long for anything. Loosing her husband has crushed that sense of security and pushed her deep into depression. I can only imagine how difficult it must have been for her to also loose her health.
Many people have little pity for the rich and famous and I can understand why - when money could solve all your problems it's easy to forget that the most important things cannot truly be bought. It only becomes apparent when you start loosing them. Celine can suffer in privacy and luxury but she's still suffering without her husband she loved so much there to comfort her and for that, I genuinely feel sorry for her. Not only that - the disease is taking away her voice, her talent she built her fame and fortune on - I cannot begin to comprehend (as decidedly talentless and fame-less person) how difficult it must be for her. Love of her fans is not enough (and boy,is fame a fickle mistress) to keep her from feeling alone. We can't hug her and tell her we're going to be there for her no matter what - I hope she has wonderful friends that will. She seems like a kind soul.

And the rest of her fmaily is very, very far away and honestly none of us know (nor should we, for that matter) how good a relationship she still has with any of them. She may have had to cut back whatever social circle she has so. All the money in the world can't cure loneliness. Don't pretend it can. You're surrounded by sharks who only want to be around you to get into the will. That's it. If money were everything, why do so many fmaous people fall into depression and addiction? Loneliness. Because everybody wants their money. If you had all that money, you would likely be just as lonely.
What you wrote is mostly true; but the fact that she is wealthy (while it does not prevent her suffering or cure her syndrome) provides her with the ability to have the best one-on-one medical care 24/7. This is something few of us could have. It pains me to see her suffering. I get muscle spasms from a health condition, but they are not nearly so severe as Celine's. But I know how painful and debilitating they are. My thoughts are with her.
I love your compassion. Most doctors want to write a prescription and shove the patient out the door. They never look at the patient. It's like they are blind.

The deep connection she created with anyone that ever struggled with the loss of something that gave them joy… she is incredibly brave and vulnerable to release this. I lost my ability to run at age 18, I have a rare genetic malformation of the leg muscles that cut off blood supply to the lower legs. It happened 6 months after I started running for fun. I loved the speed, the wind, the controlled breathing, the euphoria. Then it was gone, I would get extreme muscle cramps if I ran longer than 100 yards, maybe less, it’s hard to remember exactly. I had two surgeries to correct it, the hope and the joy lasted 2 years before it failed. I had a long recovery for those two surgeries so again I was back to running for 8-9 months before I had the same symptoms. To say I was crushed is an understatement. I was walking to my college class when I felt it and I’m not sure why I stayed in class because I was just sobbing quietly until the class was over. That feeling of ‘all hope is lost’ was worse than anything that came before it, the testing, the surgeries, the recovery… the loss of hope that the surgeries had “fixed” me - that’s the worse part. I still have my legs, I have good blood flow if I’m walking, but any increased need for blood flow, I get a leg cramp. It’s been over 20 years since I’ve lost this ability, and the disappointment is better, but not gone. I’ve had to get a lot of therapy to process it all. I wanted to comment because the way you described her process of healing was on the mark completely. I also appreciate the medical explanation of everything she was going through. I think people that don’t have a chronic illness or pain or limitation cannot fully get it - which I think is a blessing that they don’t have to experience the mental/emotional pain; but so many people have judgements about medications and that’s the tough part to understand unless you are in a body that is constantly revolting against you.

I was recently diagnosed with a chronic disease which I have been suffering symptoms of.. for almost 10 years now... there is so much grief on how you were to the person you are now. Its not easy to process at all... therapy or talking about this loss... is key and valid. And accepting who we are now with our limitations is not easy either and the need to fight and seek joy being the person we are now can be a hard process but I believe we can get there... one day at a time. I have a long term chronic illness that has only been diagnosed the past 6 years. I am 59 and have been suffering from it my whole life…it progressively got worse. I have been gaslighted and treated horribly by so many doctors over the years and even still now. And because the doctors didn’t understand and said it was all psychological or they couldn’t find anything wrong, my family thought it was also. The PTSD and stress from a long term illness is so real. I sobbed watching this, because I know exactly the loss she is feeling! I was amazing! I raised 5 beautiful kids, ran a successful company and rocked my husband’s world for 30 of our 38 years. Now he hast to take care of me and it’s devastating! Thank you for sharing this Celine!

I’m in the same position. I have two chronic illnesses that are only going to get worse. I’m managing the symptoms for now but who knows when they’ll get out of control again. It took me 11 years to get my diagnosis for them, and I absolutely agree with you about the process causing PTSD. In my case, it’s CPTSD because of other things that have happened during my life. Me too, I have been suffering from chronic pain conditions for over 25 years. I too was treated with such disrespect from many doctors. It took 10 years to get a diagnosis. The specialist I saw diagnosed me within 10 minutes. He really couldn’t help me much, but just having a name for my condition, and having someone hear me and believe in me was such a relief for me. These chronic diseases rob us of our lives and the joys we once knew. We just have to carry on the best we can and surround ourselves with positive people and things we love. I try to stay positive, but sometimes I have a “Pity Me Day” , as it can be stressful fighting and struggling to get through each and every day. Celine is amazing. She is also lucky to have the best care possible. She is living with a horrendous illness. Considering that Celine has thousands of songs at this point I can't really choose one!! One of the many reasons we love Celine is that she has always been an open book and NEVER a diva! It's good to see that she has improved a lot since this was filmed! She still has the ability to sing and she herself has said that she's at about 90% now!

My son-in-law, an African American male suffers from this same condition. He has been suffering from this syndrome for over five years now. It is a horrible thing to watch whenever he has an episode. He had a doctor's appointment once, and my daughter had to have the doctor come out to their parked SUV with a gurney to bring him into the hospital. It had hit him out of nowhere when he was driving home from work. My heart aches when I see him going through it when his body shakes and writhes uncontrollably. We live in Baltimore, and he is being treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital there is little that they know to do. People, count your blessings and thank God that if you still have a reasonable portion of health and strength. Watching her hurts my heart and brings tears to my eyes. I will pray for her.

I'm not gonna compare what she's going through with my life, but when she shows and explains what happens to her when she tries to sing... that hit me hard. Gymnastics was my life for years. All I knew was gymnastics. I got injured, never recovered. To look at what I was able to do that I could do no more, broke me. I did therapy for years. I know that feeling. I was good thou, she IS still phenomenal.
I have been there, but with volleyball. When something has been your purpose for so long and when your body rebels against it, your whole life changes. It's more than just a game or a sport. It's something we have been doing since childhood and what has defined us for so long. Mine came before my Olympic tryout. It was devastating and I turned to substances I shouldn't have. Thankfully, my family got me the support and help I needed to get clean. The mind part of the issue takes the longest to address. I wish you all the best. 💜

I did have an autoimmune disorder. One of the symptoms was intense, unlocalized and painful back spasms. The others were asthma attacks and severe depression. The naturopath gave me vitamins. The psychiatrist gave me SSRIs. I was given muscle relaxants for the spasms. None of these treatments worked. The only clue I had was that eggs gave me severe asthma attacks right away. I decided to take two delayed food allergy tests. NO doctor asked me about my diet. It turned out that four foods were behind all of the symptoms. All four gave me severe depression. The sunflower seeds also gave me the back spasms. I stopped all of these for good, and all of the symptoms left. I did slip a few times, only to have to wait three brutal days for my immune system to calm down.
By good fortune, I developed severe breathlessness one day. I had no choice but to take antibiotics. I was given three of them. It got rid of a sinus infection, and it did a clean sweep of my gut. I craved yogurt for weeks after that clean sweep, even though I hate yogurt. After all this the depression was gone, the back spasms were gone, and the asthma attacks were gone. They have never come back since.

It's pretty crazy how food allergies can show up! My eczema was caused by a tomato allergy and I kept getting told to use steroids until I got fed up and did an elimination diet where I figured out that within 24 hours of eating tomatoes my hands would swell, burn and itch.
So youre a healer. Good for you. Not sure why you think your story is relevant here though.

In absolute tears! Celine was so brave to share this with us. We never would have known what someone with SPS has to go through. If it turns out that she will never be able to sing/perform again it will never take away the kind, gentle and caring soul she is. We have her amazing music and talent available to inspire us. This is devastating/ horrendous for Celine but it does not take away what an amazing soul she is and we will always be thankful that she shared her talent and life with us.
Documentaries about people with rare diseases can sometimes be exploitative. They are regular people saddled with huge medical bills and then a TV show offers to share intimate details. I love how this cannot be exploitative, because Celine can afford her treatments. She likely had ultimate control over the cuts chosen for the docu. This is a woman sharing her deepest intimacies, purely out of choice, and likely for the same motivation as one shares intimacies while singing.

I live in Victoria, BC and people can wait 5-10 years before finding a doctor. Yes, we have walk in clinics but those are full for the day, before they even open in the morning. What’s unfair about it? She’s a wonderful singer-one of the best; however, she’s human. She talks about herself as though she’s untouchable. Maybe this is humbling her to come to terms with whatever she needs to be at peace-we just don’t know. We all have things to deal with and she isn’t exempt.

I used to belt that song out when I was younger. I loved it and loved singing it, but also loved “singing it with her”. She wasn’t just a voice to me, she was a powerhouse of a soul. Not like the rest. This was so hard to watch because I can understand how she feels and what that feels like.
To watch you listen to her speak and through your own video, you hear her voice and push to say to her, “But you ARE!” broke me. To see the love behind what you said speaks volumes for everyone like you saying the same thing hearing that. She is a voice, but she is so much more. Hopefully she sees that and feels it someday. It could bring her some peace to know that people see her and love her and stand behind her knowing that is she the soul behind that voice. She’s not alone. We are here for her!

As a Canadian, I remember hearing Celine Dion's music during the late 1980's, before she became a world-wide celebrity. My heart always breaks a little when I hear Because You Loved Me. She wrote it for her late husband, as I'm sure you know. Nowadays, at least in North America, it seems to be rare to see that kind of commitment between a couple. On a different note, I'm a person who is living with cerebral palsy. This condition primarily effects my legs and I occasionally get muscle spasms which are decidedly unpleasant. They are nothing of this magnitude, though. Stay mentally strong, Celine.

It is also so touching to me through her pain, fear and bone crushing disappointment in this illness, she still has the heart to show people through witness and education what any handicapped person goes through daily they DON’T broadcast to strive to be as normal as possible in an abnormal situation.
As I am a permanently disabled person with chronic pain, she’s a hero to me to use her celebrity to bring awareness of what goes on. People assume too much how hard it really is. Most of us don’t mention it to spare the healthy peoples’ feelings and maintain some dignity.

I watched the documentary before I listened to your commentary and I think you've done an excellent job in identifying the process Celine is experiencing.
I’m so impressed with Celine that she would allow all of us to see her at her most vulnerable. My prayers are with her and hope for a recovery or at least semi control.
I watched the documentary and I was genuinely upset about it. I have a severe injury to my neck; discectomies, laminectomies later and not being able to work for twenty years and nineteen items on my prescription I could empathise with Celine. My muscle spasms are awful and the nerve pain is exquisitely perfect...Everyone, friends, family, all fucked off at tremendous speed. My brother lives a hundred yards away and he's been in my house once in twenty years because his printer had broken.

Do you ask him for help ? Maybe he thinks if he sees you walking etc that things are ok. Sometimes we have to ask or others might not know. My one sis has fibromyalgia but she never ever talks about it. She works full time , goes to church every Sunday and babysits for a young girl on. Saturdays and plays board games with her friends 1-2 times a week. We have no idea if she ever needs help bc she never talks about it and is always busy. So we assume she is doing ok unless she asks !
I cried so hard watching this documentary. She’s been in our lives for such a long time and watching her struggle so badly was just absolutely devastating. Such a beautiful strong woman. Even just seeing her be so sad and feel so worthless because she can’t use her voice the way she wants to was just devastating!
That was quite heartbreaking to watch. Good for her letting this be broadcast to let people know what is going on with her health.
I can’t think of many iconic mega stars allowing this to happen.

All of her songs are excellent. But my latest favourite was the gift she gave us after 4 years of waiting...the gift at the Paris Olympics. ❤️❤️❤️

What a powerhouse she is.
Celine is so much more than her voice. Her singing is what made everyone aware of her. I hope she knows that she'll always be loved and remembered for the joy she brought to so many people with her grace and talent on stage. Also her humble and beautiful personality during interactions when being interviewed and with fans. Her identity doesn't stop there. She's a mom, wife, sister, and I'm sure, friend, to her nearest and dearest. She employs many people. Her philanthropy, accolades, and humanitarianism is a list of things a mile long. Plus now she's bringing awareness to this rare disorder. She is DEFINITELY more than her voice! That was a tool that gave her the resources to do everything she's done around the world and she used it well! My hope is these awful episodes lessen or they find a way to make them stop as soon as they start so she can live the rest of her life without fear of losing herself in the pain, stress, and depression of this terrifying diagnosis.
As far as my favorite song......I don't have one. As soon as she sings one note of any song, I turn the volume up, dance and sing like no one's watching....or listening! 😊❤

Her entire catalog is my favorite. I adore her. I learned French because of her music. This was shot in 2021. She’s much more stable now. She was singing fantastically in her NBC interview.
As a fan, and a human being, my heart absolutely breaks for her. She lost the absolute love of her life, and now is forced to endure this awful diagnosis.
As a RN. I am also absolutely fascinated and empathetic, and I wish I could take it away for her. I really appreciate that you said we need to not only treat the s/sx, but we also need to treat the person as an individual. You are so right. Working in the healthcare field, I regularly see us medical staff treat the s/sx, while forgetting our patients are humans who love, laugh, cry, have hobbies, have passions, and dreams. Have loved ones who count on them, and the list goes on.
The mental torment she must be enduring on a daily basis is unimaginable. To be given so much, and to then lose it all. My heart goes out to her.
I have endometriosis and a few other comorbidities that kept me very close to home for three years. Not being able to work and having to spend so much time and effort to get my body to be not terrible was exhausting and quite depressing. It takes away so much of what feels like your identity - I can imagine that pain and hurt must be so high for Celine Dion. I appreciate her sharing her experience of an autoimmune disease with us all - it takes a lot of courage, and while her disease is rare, chronic and severe health conditions are not. And she really shows the fullness of the person that continues to exist despite the challenges and limitations that health issues can bring.
My heart breaks for her. Showing the world what she has and how it affects her took a unbelievable amount if courage. God bless her!
To allow the whole world to see you at your worst and most vulnerable says a lot about her. Very brave and I pray God blesses her and heals her.🙏
I work in plasma donation. On average we get 90-120 people a day; it’s said in the documentary it takes between 1,000-15,000 people to make ONE BAG of medication! We need more plasma donors and I really wish it would drop the stigma that only addicts and homeless donate (they can’t per the FDA!). I can’t beg people enough to visit your local plasma center and see if you’re eligible to donate. It helps people, like Celine, and helps you too as it pays a bit of money in return for your time.

@@DH_CR7078 because people say only desperate people donate plasma. They see it as selling your body for money it's for people who cannot afford to live any other way they say. I donate plasma and blood when I can as an o- person.
Here in the States, specifically in and around Chicago, there are only 3, yes, THREE plasma centers. 2 of the 3 are in high crime, low income neighborhoods. My best friend donated plasma throughout college to make extra money for car fuel and she said there were many addicts and homeless people that would donate plasma. A person could get paid anywhere from $30-$70 per donation. After Covid and the vaccine came, they'd pay extra if you recently had been infected or had been vaccinated just so they'd have the antibodies @DH_CR7078
I've worked in health care for over thirty years and I have never heard that only addicts and homeless donate. Canada
I spent years training as an opera singer but eventually decided that wasn't a career that I wanted to pursue. After I made that decision I didn't sing for years because I felt like I didn't deserve to after I walked away from it and I missed it terribly. Clearly never at the level that Celine was but I can sympathise with losing something you love so much even if mine was self inflicted. It's heartbreaking.

Celine is a beautiful example of grace and grit. Her bravery here, allowing this spasm crisis to be documented, is helping the world get a window onto this condition. She is a class-act and an amazing human being. I hope she is able to recover completely from this.
