  • GRID by SimLab has produced some of the most high-end and impressive Sim Racing hardware we have seen at Boosted Media. Their no expense spared approach of course comes with a price tag. It is easy to see where that money goes given the attention to detail and quality of construction in their gear.
    The Grid MPX Sim Racing Steering Wheel is a 295mm GT or Formula-style wheel with 87 individually programmable RGB LEDs. This gives a huge level of customization in controlling the wheel’s lighting through in-game telemetry or feedback from button inputs.
    We took a close look at the GRID MPX Sim Racing Steering wheel, to find out exactly what you get for your money, why I love it, and why Lewis Hamilton will not be buying one!

    Ordered mine a couple weeks ago , should be shipping soon. The price is high but all the quality wheels are. This wheel on paper just checks all the boxes. All of them. Size, function, form, build, features, it's the only wheel I've seen that I can't see the drawback too. We shall see, but I'm super excited for it.

    Hi Will, thanks for the review. I purchased this wheel and I agree with just about all you have said, the quality and feel of this wheel is fantastic, the ergonomics are great it just feels right. I had the cube control gt pro before and this is so much better in every way. Also the support from grid and their discord is great, you always get a response from grid support if needed.

    Thank God all the buttons are just free rotatary and without memorized position. There's just so few uses for it that I usually end up with useless buttons and wishing more free rotatory ones.

    Great review as always. Although it’s an older wheel, i’d be curious to see a review of the BMW GT3 wheel, as the price tag is quite significant, yet provides similar functionality to other high end wheels. Given the insight and experience with other wheels, would be cool to see where it stacks up against them considering it’s a real FIA grade bit of kit.

    @GraceMcClain 11 месяцев назад +2

    Given the functionality, and build quality, the €1180 price tag here in Germany actually doesn't seem too bad. I mean, it's well beyond my price range, but the more money gets spent in Sim Racing, the bigger the industry will get, and then we will all benefit. Another solid review, as always, with honesty, integrity, and solid facts.

    • @Mat-hr1dg
      @Mat-hr1dg 11 месяцев назад +1

      That's a false conclusion, disproven by many past examples, not to mention you can get an ENTIRE used and well cared for car for just double that amount.

    • @jangalaba4626
      @jangalaba4626 11 месяцев назад +6

      @@Mat-hr1dg of course, but that car is even more of a money eater than simracing overall. You can get it and own it for that price yes, but if you want to do some racing with it you will get to 10x the cost of the car very easily.

    • @Mat-hr1dg
      @Mat-hr1dg 11 месяцев назад +1

      @jangalaba4626
      Well that wasn't really the point I tried to make, not to mention I would have to calculate the entire PC, rig, games and services, etc. Into that equation as well.
      The point I was trying to make was rather that nothing material about the wheel itself can ever justify its price.
      It's even worse with the ffb pedals, for example.
      If a car manufacturer can sell new (though be it basic) cars for under 12k, for example, there shouldn't be ANY sim-pedal costing half of what the entire car costs, no matter how sophisticated.
      There is simply no argument to be made other than: "They buy it for that price so we don't care and take the money even if it costs 70$ to make."
      It's fine, I'm not saying "screw them, they are greedy", I say "screw you (and me) because we idiots bought it for that price".
      We really shouldn't and we really should reflect more on what we actually spend our money on.
      Even luxury should have its limits.

    • @jangalaba4626
      @jangalaba4626 11 месяцев назад

      @@Mat-hr1dg I absolutely agree, but there is sadly nothing we can do about it. From my understanding (since I am a CNC machinist) the pedals and whatever else cost so much because they're made by machines that cost incredible amounts of money, and you have to make the products worth selling. Sadly for some of us that is the only option to ever get a glimpse or even a touch of racing. Me, I'm a minimalist with a few hobbies so what I save in money, I spend on what I love the most

    Good Review. Thumbs up for this. The wheel overall is not bad. What I not like at all is the additional porwer supply. This is absolute unnessecary. Other wheels have a simmular amount of LEDs and work with what they get from the 5V USB. For example my BavarianSimTec Omega Pro wheel has 87 programmable LEDs and works flawless with just one USB. I use (and love) my Asetek base and the QR from Asetek. But this wheel is not a good idea if you like to make it "wireless".

I dont expect cheap rubber grips. In my eyes this is a full rip off ... just to keep the nose high of a few... sorry im still fast on a t150. Believe it or not ^^... i upgraded a year ago to a MOZA R5 bundle/Brake performance Kit/ and a real CFK faceplate from acelyth. what I don’t think anyone is mentioning the horrid placement of the two joystick dials above both hands.
    The placement for these is horrible, say you get or spin or whatever, and your wheel violently throws itself around…
    I got rear ended and it was almost manageable to save the car but when the wheel over corrected, my finger / hand got caught on this little dainty button and it popped right off…
    It’s only fasted with a tiny rod of stainless that’s 1/8” thick on a good day…
    For a wheel of this price and the rest of the quality
    This is just an extremely poor design choice
    I can’t imagine the company isn’t aware of this if they had done some proper testing
    It only take a few incidents on track until this pice is either completely bent in the wrong direction and a matter of time till it falls off…
    This button either needs to be held together by something stronger, relocated, or completely removed/ redesigned
    This was on about 12nm of force too so it’s not like I have some ridiculous wheel settings
