And help me realize and remember the second hole on the bracket is for the threaded part of that cable to go through to then connect to it. Much appreciation!
Just had to replace my Evap purge solenoid by the refueling system behind the driver rear wheel… needless to say, it took me two days of soaking in rust penetrator to get ONE, rusted out, stripped 10mm bolt off. Chevy does indeed run deep, deep into a rusted hole
Great job! Now I know where to look on my 2012 Impala. Going in for rear brakes in a few days so I’ll see how bad they screw me over to fix my e brake. I would grease up all those cables and threaded adjustment parts as long as you are under there!👍
Ok doing this on an 05 Buick exactly same deal thanks so much big help I replaced all three cables and the new bracket so now no for sure not to remove the crimp clamp over that tensioner nut mechanism on the rear drive side thanks again!
Maybe try using some Brake Klean on it and then a lil W2-40. After the W2-40 works it way in, it would probably help with cleaning and breaking the stubborn nuts loose.
Thanks for the thorough video. I have an automatic transmission 2005 buick Lacrosse. I noticed that the rear left cable has come apart from the center part which is still holding the rear right cable. Should the rear cable or cables or the center part be replaced right away, or is it something that can wait till winter months are over. I guess I I won't have the emergency parking brake until then. Also, how easy it is to just buy the centre connecting part (clamp?) and fix the problem. The parts are currently somewhat rusted and may be difficult to loosen the screws etc. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me for my particular situation.
You should fix the parking brake ASAP. If only for the sake of saving the automatic transmission. Because; setting the parking brake relieves stress or tension on the parking pawl inside of the transmission. I ignored my weak parking brake for about a year. Now, after parking at an odd angle forward. Down at the edge of steep a laneway. Loaded car with people then shifted the gear from P, to D = heard a clunk! Even w/ my emergency brake set... the whole weight of the lacrosse was resting on the parking pawl lever. It snapped at the weld - inside of the transmission. $650 repair... But, I'm taking it in for a complete transmission overhall = $1400 USD tomorrow 🚗👀 I take my Buick to the Buick dealership almost exclusively... Brakes/ tires winter snow/summer change-outs, and maintenance schedule I/II. But not for this Xmissin repair. Taking it to a real professional 😛
@@FatalCorleone07 it looks like the same body style. With front wheel drive. Mine is a 2008 Buick lacrosse. I got a quote from the Buick/GMC dealership. Replace Brake cable; But parts where held up due to a GM workers union strike. $200 I was able to fix my own cable (too much slack) cable was good. Just no way to adjust tensioner ( rusted ) 🚗
Thats a big problem though. Im actually going to school for auto mechanics, they say in the book that they arent really used for emergency braking much anyway, so now they go by parking brake. That is what they should be used for and in an emergency if you think about it and actually use it. Unless you live on a 100% perfectly flat level ground, you are putting alot of unneeded stress on your transmission. That will eventually give out and cost thousands to replace(depending on the vehicle). I always use my parking brake when parking. My 2011 caravan will be about 3500 to rebuild the transmission, so i want to protect that as much as i can.
@JohnSmith-qr4vt yeah, parking on enough inclines without it has made my impala make weird transmission sounds. I've been parking flat now and intend on fixing it soon
You're right, I'll give you the narration you needed during that first 3 minutes of the video. Here goes: "I'm going to struggle to pull the broke piece off this hook.......aaaaand pulling........pulling.......I'll try another tool.............pulling and prying................next I'm going to keep pulling...........If you'll notice I'm also breathing a bit and having hands.......now I'm using the motor cortex of my brain to send a signal down the nerves in my arms, causing them to pull.......so if you really pay attention now, you'll notice that I am actually pulling..........pulling and prying..................K, it's off now."

I live in the Midwest so everything under the car is either hard to get off or it falls off by itself.
No kidding, gotta love the ice melting solutions used on the roads around here.

Nice tutorial. I appreciate that you addressed the attachment brackets since they are half the battle.
where can you get the bracket that bolts on ?

Great camera and lighting work. Appreciate the patient explanation.
Great tutorial man!!! Looks like a pain in the ass..my 97 Monte is looking like the Titanic I might get another yr out of it.

Nicely done
Thank you good sir :)
I don’t think he understands how this assembly works.

What year is this exactly for?
2001 until 2013
@@missingremote4388 so won't work for 2000 Monte Carlo SS?

You need a punch and hammer
just cut the cable and leave it. No one uses the emergency brake anymore

A little more talking and explaining what your doing would really help. I quietly watched for bout 3 minutes in silence then disliked the video.
