Thanks so much Chris. I didn't start out thinking I was going to do this but I get 5-10x the views on these videos than I do on others. So... I guess I'll keep doing them! lol.
Thanks, I greatly appreciate that! Ron is awesome and love his channel. That was kind of him to support me like that, he has also been encouraging me for a while so I feel like he has been a great mentor too!
I carry this load often in the warm months in my Ruger LCPII. It shoots well and I have 100% reliability. In testing it appears to compare favorably to the best 380 defense loads. Those flutes are sharp so whether the bullet is traveling straight or tumbling it will cut what it travels through. It is much faster than 95 grain FMJ loads yet provides more damage and still gets well over 12'' of penetration.
Try Fort Scott 380. If I remember correctly, I consistently got 15-16” from the same barrel length. It’s standard pressure and is shaped like a FMJ. It feeds like a normal FMJ.
Lehigh defense has loaded ammo in non plus p and underwood also has it in non plus p. Everything has run well through my 2.0 I only notice some keyholes
Thanks! Yes, I have already done a video on the non-+p version earlier in my series of tests. I just got a lot of requests for doing the testing in +p. Dang what are you seeing key holing on? I haven't seen that on mine yet.
@triggerbarPhD I didn't keep track of which ammo it was. I was shooting critical defense and the underwood testing mainly for function and accuracy which they both did well with. Next range trip I will keep an eye on it and comment. I like your vids also. Will be subscribing now. Thank you
I won’t use +P ammunition not just because it’s not recommended by the manufacturer, but there are reports of extractor breakdowns after using it in the SW forums. Also, Underwood rounds seem to have feeding problems with the dual-ramp design of the BG2.
@ Are you able to post a video of your ramp polishing work? I did some light polishing on mine, mostly to remove some visible barbs on the upper ramp, but would be nice to see how others approach this issue. Thanks for the ammo testing videos! 👍
I have two BG 2.0's and one works flawlessly but the other jams so badly I have to press it against the range table to clear it. Sent it off 6 weeks to S&W warranty and now it jams exactly as it did before I sent it off. I'm just done with it for a pocket carry.
SW dropped the ball with QC and some design features in this gun. I bought mine later and still encountered the half dozen or so issues people reported in the forums.
Watched entire series so far, great job, I came for the BG 2.0 comparison. I think at this point I would toss that Beretta in the garbage, just sayin lol.
lol. I’m gonna try a different recoil spring. It doesn’t get better. At this point it’s a collector piece for me as I love the 92. But I’ll not carry JHP’s in the beretta. Actually I don’t even carry it, just a range toy.
Slightly rounding off the sharp edges of the underwood rounds helps them feed in the Bodyguard. Contouring the feedramp and de-burring the entry point on the extractor solved the remainder of loading issues on mine.
Awesome!! I've buffed it again after this video but haven't tested them out yet. I was getting failures every 10 rounds. Now I went several mags clean but 1 in 40 rounds hung up. I'm hoping that last bit of polishing fixed me up! Thanks for the tip on the edges of the bullets! I've heard norma makes some similar bullets and I want to try those.
I think 380's are just finicky although, I've seen some 10mm not work with various types (S&W). I carry them in my 9mm a lot so I'm a believer in the round. Just doesn't work well in those two guns.
That's a good idea. It runs FMJ ammo just fine (see my 1000 round review). It's just anything other than the FMJ shape. It did run good on the speer gold dot so I'm tempted to carry fmj with some speers to get the combo of fast expansion and deep penetration! lol. Idk.
On the BodyGuard, maybe some of the +P reliability has to do with the slide speed, not all hang ups are failure to feed the unique bullet form? But, if there is balky chambering, maybe no go. To me, it's an easy thought that the 9mm has more power, but some of the 380s fit the deep/comfort category a meaningful increment better. But, that's just for me. I don't have wide experience with these things, but I've shot and handled many of the popular micro 9s.
Well, my issue is my beretta seams to fail on almost all hollow points and these extreme defenders. So I think the beretta is something else other than this bullet. If it had just started when I went +p, then I would agree. I agree, I love how small you can make a 380 acp gun. It just makes carrying all the time an easier proposition and I'm all for that!
@@triggerbarPhD It's a side excursion, but as I can, I've been playing with my new for me 84BB LE trade-in. I have no serious thoughts of carrying it, but super fun at the range with FMJs. There is a current flood of 84s that makes them sort of mundane, but the quality still comes through.
@triggerbarPhD the +P Extreme Defenders is the only ammo I load in my 84bb. It's a little more snappy, but I've never had any malfunctions or issues. There's a standard pressure Extreme Defenders version. That still has some pretty good velocity and performance. I really prefer 9mm most of the time. .380 is kind of a compromise round.
@ yes the roll pins , when cleaning and disassemble the take down lever , pin backing out just enough had to use punch to move pins back in enough take apart the gun . Same thing with shield plus .
The extreme spread of the 5 shot average through the BG 2.0 was terrible. Almost 90 fps. But as someone who carries the BG 2.0 daily, I'm loving this test series. Thanks Trigger-Bar. 🫡👍🇺🇲
Hey those.380 ACP guns and rounds are performing outstanding. Thanks 🙏 for sharing Sir. Looking 👀 forward for more.
Thanks Adrian! Yes sir they are doing great!
Outstanding video! Very informative info. Thank you for posting. 🤠👍
Thanks for sticking with it Ron!
Ty for all of your videos.I picked up the bodyguard 2.0 and your videos are awesome 👍🏽
Thanks so much! I appreciate that!!
Great video again Trigger Bar I have been really enjoying this series
Thanks so much Chris. I didn't start out thinking I was going to do this but I get 5-10x the views on these videos than I do on others. So... I guess I'll keep doing them! lol.
Good video, I like your style! Subscribed! Just came over from Ron Wayne's video on the Carry.
Thanks, I greatly appreciate that! Ron is awesome and love his channel. That was kind of him to support me like that, he has also been encouraging me for a while so I feel like he has been a great mentor too!
As soon as it is CA legal or they end the Roster, I will buy one. Thank you for this test.
Awesome! Dang I hope the roster ends!!
great video and informative thanks for video
Thanks ram, I appreciate your support!!

It for sure is a great round and I carry the +p in my 9mm handguns often. I'm a believer!!

I like fort scott. I think I have some in the lineup to test out of these guns. Great munition.

Thanks for the info Shadow. Makes sense, it just puts extra wear on the gun.
@ Are you able to post a video of your ramp polishing work? I did some light polishing on mine, mostly to remove some visible barbs on the upper ramp, but would be nice to see how others approach this issue.
Thanks for the ammo testing videos! 👍
Hey those bullets did good, if I ever had to carry a 380 I loke those things, and the +p does not worry me, If anything will blow my face off!😂😂😂
lol. More than likely not blow anything up just the frame would crack or extractor wear out faster. But yes, great performance!!

oh gosh, that's awful. I had to laugh though, "and now it jams exactly as it did before". That's a quote!! LOL.

I don’t own any .380 pistols but the Extreme Defenders work fine in my 10mm XDM. Seems like as you go smaller, ammo is more finicky?

I was hoping the +Ps would run better in your Beretta, but no dice. Maybe you need a stronger recoil spring?
That's a good idea. It runs FMJ ammo just fine (see my 1000 round review). It's just anything other than the FMJ shape. It did run good on the speer gold dot so I'm tempted to carry fmj with some speers to get the combo of fast expansion and deep penetration! lol. Idk.

Te extreme defender loads are the only thing I would ever consider swapping out from HST’s..
Just tested some HST’s and they did very well.
Thanks for testing and sharing the information. I would go with the non +P ammo. It puts too much wear on a weapon.
Thanks! That’s exactly my concern.
My Berreta 84bb handles these +Ps just fine.
+p doesn’t seem to bother the gun but it doesn’t like hollow points or extreme defenders.

Where’s my Hasenpfeffer!!!
😂🤣😂
Check you pins on the s&w mine have been walking out . K
Thanks for putting that in the chat. I'll check mine and a good warning to all owners!!
What pins? The small roll pins in the frame? They walk out when firing??
@ yes the roll pins , when cleaning and disassemble the take down lever , pin backing out just enough had to use punch to move pins back in enough take apart the gun . Same thing with shield plus .
Not impressed. Hydrashok deep is subsonic, accurate, cheap, quiet in suppressor, still penetrates and civilized recoil
hydrashok deep is a great performer. See my ep. 12 with the better testing.

Thanks GreyShooter!! I do appreciate the support and glad it's useful!
That's a negative on Underwood's loading consistency. Not so great on these.
I was shocked that. Don’t know if it was the lot or small sample size but I expect better from them.
