For all y’all shooting to the left , check the front sight as mine was too far to the right
Drifted it left centered and perfect! I have 300+ rds through mine and no issues
Love this thing!
Heard this from The Humble Marksman. He said his was off to the right causing him to shoot left. Looks similar.
Mine as well.
Thanks, I have a similar issue, and will try to drift it left.
every single vid i have watched has the same shooting left problem.
I've been carrying this for 2 weeks now. Vetted it and it was flawless with 11 different types of ammo and 560 rounds.
Wow, that's quite a process.
@@stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 If you're gonna carry smart then you have to make sure it's reliable. If I get malfunctions within 500 rounds then I don't carry it.
@@whatsup24_7 Oh I don't question that, it's the extensive ammo sampling that I'm not used to. I just use Federal HST.
@@stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 I like to make sure it fires whatever is fed to it.
Love this little .380. I also have the safety model. It was insanely rigid when I got it. I put a drop of oil on each side and actuated the safety throughout the day like a fidget toy. A few days later it’s smooth and you can flip it off and on easily with your thumb.
Good process. I have no doubt it will ease up over time. 99% of buyers of CC guns take them out of the box, load them, put them in their holster and carry. I try to balance my thinking between that and the more experienced folks.
Manual safeties can get ya wacked
@@whatsup24_7
That’s ignorant.
@@russellridge8623 better do some research son
@@russellridge8623 It's a fact some people have been shot due to not taking their safety off when being fired at.
Thanks for reviewing the safe way to put safety on great job with the video
I wasn't sure whether I'd leave that in, figuring it would bore and even annoy some viewers - but I also think there is a responsibility to help safety awareness.... so I left it. Thanks for the feedback on that.
@@JustinOpinionChannelon the contrary it was exactly was I was looking for before buying. You could even have the safety discussion in the subtitle IMO N
When Speedos are outlawed, only outlaws will wear Speedos.
Winner: Best comment of the week!
Purchased the Bodyguard about a week ago. Solid firearm.
Just took my new BG to the indoor range, great shooter. Tight groups at 20 feet.
Great info, I like that you make room for some comments on safety. Good range etiquette and not negligently shooting people is always in style.
I have the non safety BG2.0. I got it the first weekend they came out. I picked up my wife’s BG2.0 with thumb safety last Saturday. I have worked the safety a little, it really does free up some. It’s an amazing little platform, but being so small, it does require a little break in. I’ve got 600+ through my non safety, and my wife now has 200 through her safety version. Everything has become easier, except the 12 round mags, those are still rough to get all 12 in.
Same experience I have had with mine.
Yeah, it can be a little hard getting 12 in such a tiny place. I've had that problem for years.....😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣
@@michaelsweaney3890 thats what she said.
The Ruger LCP Max is one of my favorite. I'm looking forward to acquiring this one. OAN. I kinda want a Glock 42X.
Try the Taurus gx4with 9 mm /sig p238 cal.380/new model sig.p365 ,,, if you want pocket Carrie.
Also Taurus spectrum 380😊
42x sucks don’t get one jams a lot
Me too.
@@Charmander-92Uh.....what?
Great presentation Justin. You covered everything. I carried a .380 (walther ppk)as an off duty gun, a long time ago. I wanted to return to the .380 for nostalgic reasons but did not want to pay a lot for it. This gun has everything, and I dont have to mortgage my house for it. People worry about the .380 round, but put the round in the hands of an experienced shooter, and it is deadly.
What a great pocket pistol. If only Smith & Wesson would get the front sight right. TheHumbleMarksman had the same issue in which the front sight was off center.
I’m getting one. I currently carry a LCP Max in the summer.
The proportions make it look like a bigger gun but it's barely larger than my Beretta Pico 380 which has a 1 1/2 finger grip with the flush magazine. This has a 2 1/2 or 3 finger grip & a much lower bore axis.
Smith is going to sell 250,000 of these in the next 3-4 years.
And there will be 200,000 on the used gun market in 5-6 years, when the first-time gun owners have "upgraded" to 9mm.😊
im 5 of those 250,000 prolly gonna get 5 more. My fav random spot firearm. Have 2 in the garage and 2 through out the house and one for daily pocket carry , i love it.
I saw a video from Old English outfitters online and they had two of these pistols come in and they had to move the front sides. They were not lined up correctly in the middle. Might be what your deal is. I will check that first because you can move the front ones. Also I'd move the front before the back if it's off. Just check out and see the center if it ain't centered. That's all I got to say about that. Have a good day. Happy shooting. Be safe
I have two Shield Plusses that had the same problem. It's an issue from the factory, apparently. Poor sight regulation
I noticed you use custom hearing protection. Are they available to a shooter like myself? If so, may I know where I can inquire for them? Thanks.
PS - I have and like this firearm. Better than most of the 380's I've had, and best for concealed carry.
I am considering this for carry. I dont have any 380 but this one is very interesting when you want a smaller carry or pocket carry, specifically during summer.
It's great!!! Tiny with great capacity and handling...a pocket fighting gun!
Nice calm, objective non tacticool review. Good job
Will need to get this in hand!
All the reviews i have watched have been positive for the most part.
Many years ago when I first joined RUclips, I came across your channel and started following. I always appreciate your honest opinions and reviews. Thanks for continuously providing the info. Wish you the best of health and luck.
You're very kind. Thanks for tuning in all this time! I wish the same for you.
Your photos have always been the best on the 'Tube.
Thanks much! It's something I put some effort into, and I appreciate that.
You always are my favorite reviewer.
Hey Dave....Both Stav's and mine also shot left....High and left but as it broke in it got better......Might want to shoot about 300 before you drift the sights.....Mac....
Seems that is a common experience. Also, agreed - it takes me a while to rule out shooter error and let the parts wear in, etc. Watched your video - we had very similar experiences with it. I'm not really a .380 guy but this is one worth having I think.
Brand new, out of the box, the front sights on my BG 2.0 were off-center by over 1mm.
Great review. Please make a sight adjustment on that pistol and make a “part 2” video, comparing paper target groups from both videos.
Oh, and shooting low/left can be common with a very narrow pistol. It can require adjusting your grip some.
no, it because the sights are not centered from the factory. every video i have seen prints the same, no matter if its lefties or righties shooting it, they always print left.
Adjust finger position on the trigger also
I've gotten used to the original BG trigger, but I'd love to upgrade to this gun sometime soon. I tried the LCP Max but just couldn't get into it. I'm hoping for better things from S&W. Thanks for another informative review.
I own an original Bodyguard with the manual safety, and I wish it didn't have one because with close to a 12 pound, hammer fired, double action only trigger pull, it isn't really necessary. It's just very, very hard to accidentally fire it, and that alone is safe enough for me.
But with this new striker fired rig and it's 3.5 to 4 pound trigger pull, I don't know if I would feel as comfortable carrying it in my pocket with one in the chamber, and no safety. With this greatly improved trigger, "Glock Leg" becomes a real concern when drawing the gun under stress.
I still like the lcp (one).
It’s smaller, a true pocket pistol. Yeah, trigger not great but it really does fit the pocket, almost any
I'll be getting mine in about a month!
great review, thanks!
Bought two of these! One for me, and one for my wife... both of ours shoot left also! I think Honest Outlaw even mentioned on his they were all shooting left as well. I drifted sights on both of ours and they work great now!
Thanks!
Thanks very much!!
Mine arrives on Thursday, I got the TS anyway this is absolutely the most informative and best video regarding this tool. Thanks man
Glad it was helpful!
Dude, I had several Failure to feeds with Fiochi as well. Glad not just me lol.
Picked mine up today....perfecto
Chris, over at Honest Outlaw mentioned about the leftward pattern from a right hander, that this is common with very small pistols.
I like the hogue rubber slip on grip for my Glock. Might try that on this.
It's a fun little pistol, but it's the same size dimension wise as the Kahr CM9, CM40, PM9, and PM40. The CM9 has a longer barrel and gets you 6+1 of 9mm with an 8-round backup magazine, so 15 rounds of 9mm. .380 really is a weak round out of these miniscule barrels.
Did you notice how high your grip is? I did a quick look at a visual comparison site and this seems to allow a much higher grip than several other .380s.
Yes, it's nice and high. It has a very M&P-like feel - just tinier.
Bought one last week. Love it. I would not mind having a dozen of them for spares. Great review. Thanks.
You should lower camera a little bit more. You should cover at least 1/3 of the shot. The empty area between top of your head and top of frame is too much. (The studio shot)
Please do some chronograph with this gun. I'm curious about velocity drop compared to the Glock 42.
I'm not digging the short barrel, and I hope they come out with a pro model with a longer barrel.
Good morning, Justin. Yes, sir. By the looks of it. Looks like a 😎🤘🇺🇸 .380acp. I'm most definitely going to look into changing out my ruger lcp max .380acp to this one
I was about to upgrade my LCP II to the LCP Max, but I chose the BG 2.0 when I saw the reviews.
Yeah that slide release is what I dislike about my shield plus too. Not a fan of that but I’m still gonna buy this pistol lol
Thanks for the great safety tips!!!
Nice review, thanks. I think we can probably all relate that it doesn't take much to encourage another gun purchase 😊.
This is the 3rd or 4th review I have seen where the sights were off--POI to the left of POA. It seems that S&W has an issue with sight installation/alignment manufacturing process. Hopefully they will get the issue resolve quickly. I won't be pocket carrying my Ruger LCP Max within a few weeks once the weather cools so I will switch back to a 9mm handgun until next summer when I may buy the Bodyguard 2.0. Any issues should be resolved by then and maybe S&W will offer a $50 rebate or rebate for free mags by that time.
That's cute! Does it come in men's sizes, too?
😂😂😂😂
I have relatives in the South. I just passed through Tennessee for the first time in 12 years. My, how it has grown!
When I tried the original bodyguard trigger, it felt like the travel was at least three inches. If this trigger is like the Shield Plus 9, I want one.
Now make one chambered in 32 acp so a guy doesn't have to add another caliber to his collection.
Great vid ! Looks like I will be going shopping soon 😁
Fiocchi ammunition is known to not work great in these it appears. Did 40 rounds of underwood extreme 68gr and 100 rounds of Remington green and white box 95gr with zero issues on mine so far.
@@cmdbill Good to know that Underwood works. Great ammo.
I've read some replies on Reddit that some found Fiocchi does not reliable feed in their Ruger 380 Security or their LCP Max. I never bought any Fiocchi 380 ACP. Their 9mm works fine for me.
no feed issues with my 80x
i put about two hundred out of mine. Same results. Shoot the 12 magazine much better due to full grip. Shoots amazing tight groups for a mouse gun. THE SAME EXACT ISSUE EXIST. The gun shoots LEFT. Either knock the rear sight over to the RIGHT or the front sight to the LEFT. It's not you it's the way the came from the factor because like your groups they are all very tight. The real problem is my sight pusher isn't designed for such a small gun so you have to use a hammer and the factory glued the sights in pretty tight.
I was able to move the front sight using a sight pusher that looks like a "D" clamp rather than a C-clamp. But I had to remove the slide each time (a hassle while at the range) and had to REALLY bear down on the crank to get that front sight to move.
I can't unsee the eagle
Thanks for the great video. I learned some more.
Mines on order. Looking forward to getting this.
Fantastic review! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I was in between the safety model or not. Thanks. Guess with this safety being so small I can just not use the safety most of the time, and just use it I special situations.
Triggers have gotten so much better on the polymer wonder 9's over the years. I still think Walther owns the title of the best striker fired triggers, but Canik is pretty close, and there are many others that are almost as good.
Good looking micro gun for sure. My fear is my hands are so big and my finger will be awful close to the muzzle so that would be something I’d have to be very aware of. I am looking at this gun and also the say P365 380 which I know is a little larger I do believe.
I recently got this little gun and love it now just need extra magazines
Great video brother!!! Got mine yesterday and love it so far. i have it when I don't want to carry its bigger brother the Shield 9mm.
It's definitely had some traction with the community, that rear sight is something else.
I’m sure it’s nice and all and I’ve been bugging S&W since I bought my 380EZ just about 5 years ago, hoping for a 380Pro (as it were). I hammered on them right up until Sig came out with their P365 380. Got the first one I saw and still love it. I got the EZ and P365 380 in prep for the time I could no longer handle my P365XL and I may have jinxed myself. Now, at 71, I’ve developed a heart problem so that 380 maybe thrust into prime time sooner rather than later. I’m sure the S&W is wonderful, it just came out too late for me.
Thanks for the review, picked up one last Saturday but have not put any rounds downrange. My safety is very, very hard to engage. Tried a little gun oil on it, maybe it will loosen up. It will rotate with my lcp max if it works dependably at the range.
Great review as always. I think I'll get one.
The slide stop slide release will break into where you can use it the way you want to mine has that I’ve only got 50 rounds through it
Check your front and rear sights as several people have had a front or rear that was just a bit off…oddly always off enough to cause shooting left.
My Ruger LCP II only has a six round mag and it pinches my trigger finger like a crab. I just ordered a Bodyguard 2.0 as a replacement. I must say, though, I can shoot the Ruger at least as well as you shot the Bodyguard.
I learned from others that using a fingernail file or small knife to remove the sharp edges on the trigger and trigger safety of a LCP can eliminate most of the pinching that causes pain. I still get enough muzzle rise that my trigger finger slips off the end of the trigger and get smashed into the trigger guard. I'll probably get a Bodyguard 2.0 next year, have my wife try it, and then buy another one if my wife takes mine.
Mine grouped well but shot similarly to the left as well. Will need to drift the sight at some point.
Alway a great video from you !
Thank you!
Very good review I just shot mine for the first time today everybody that I’ve watched is Shooting left so I think those sites were just put on wrong at the factory. I will say the trigger is no way 4 pounds. If you’ve got any sense for how triggers are this trigger is 5 1/2 pounds everybody’s gauge reads different but I have a very accurate one and I know triggers it’s about a 5 1/2 pound trigger. It should break into about 5 pounds. Anyway good review I enjoyed it
Now i can dream that S&W can do a little 380 CZ75 clone 😛
The CSX is close.
@@michaelsweaney3890 It's far off being that 😞
@@WilliamAndrewPhilipBodie
Smith better than CZ for mini carry. CZ nice shooter but too heavy.
I would love a downsized CZ75 in .380. With a decocker.
You might want to check out hogue grips. They're rubberized may slide on. I've got it on several of my guns and they've been great Don't know where they got them made for yet but they probably will cuz I've got them on my shield. Plus that's all I got to say about that. Don't forget. Tell us how far you're away from the Target
It is more of a Shield in .380 than a Bodyguard. The original is a hammer fired pistol. The 2.0 is striker fired like the Shield.
I have the original Bodyguard in .380. Like you I had problems shooting the little monster. Nothing wrong with the gun but when I shot it right handed I ejected the magazine almost every time. I learned to shoot it left handed. I will probably buy the new one.
If you are wearing Speedos getting robbed should be the least of your worries.
I'm curious why the trigger safety is the same width as the trigger. I can literally shoot the gun by hooking my fingernail on the edge of the safety and pulling, and I have really short nails! Also, I've seen a lot of people saying their front sight is off. I had to drift mine as it was a MM or so off.
Mine shoots left. Will be drifting mine soon.
Trigger safetys are typically just drop safetys to guard against the inertia from a drop, such as Glock's trigger safety.
That's because it's whole purpose is being a drop safety. Those were never meant to be any kind of a "trigger safety". So many have that misconception.
@@boblaws9851it's whole purpose is not a drop safety. Trigger safeties are mainly to keep you from snagging on something and accidentally firing. Yes it can help prevent an accidental discharge if dropped but the firing pin safety is, and always will be, more of a drop safety than the trigger safety.
@@The1jonnyz If something snags your trigger with enough force to defeat the trigger safety (which usually have almost zero resistance) , it will almost certainly pull the trigger itself and fire the gun, regardless of the width of the trigger safety.
Yet anotherr left shooting BG. S&W has screwed up the sight alignment big time. Mine did the same. Had to move front sight alot to make up for left shooting. My sights were close to centered from the Factory. I chose to move the front to the left to move POI to the right rather than move the rear sight to the right. I didn't want rear sight looking "wacko". I have never had to adjust sights this much. Something is wrong at Smith or Truglow?
I thought the .380 that we all wanted was the Walther PPK...
yeah,,, 30 years ago
Bersa Thunder is WAY better for a fraction the cost.
I sold mine. Awful little gun.
@@michaelsweaney3890 But is the Bersa Thunder a Walther PPK?
@@FinalLugiaGuardian Similar design. Different manufacturers.
The safety on the bodyguards and the shields are a massive fail IMO. I’m not against manual safeties but they need to be larger and easy to engage or disengage.
Thanks for a great review. I just got mine. Shoots smooth but to the low left. Were your mags extremely difficult to load. 15 round even with Uplula was crazy.
I'll bet! The big mag only holds 12!
I have the 10 and 12. They were tight on that last round, but not as bad as some I've tried.
:D
👍
or point it down to ground and engage the safety
I think the reset on that trigger is pretty anemic. That’s my personal opinion I’ve felt much much better resets that were audible and tactile. I would rather see a 4 pound trigger the way to the trigger makes a huge difference to me and where it breaks
WRONG! We want a hammer fired DA/SA in that size. THAT would be what we want! We have plenty of striker fired options already...
..THAT would be sweet .... I'd buy one ..
I want one bad... Thanks!
The size is the only thing that would encourage me to buy. I got a shield plus & I hesitate to go to a weaker than 9mm caliber.
Seems like it would make a good backup to the Shield. Identical controls, and small enough to carry in an ankle holster.😊
I was wondering if you liked the way that the safety came off; was it usable? Having a safety on a pocket gun seems to be a good idea even though it would be in a pocket holster. I would love a head to head with the Ruger LCP Max which is the direct competitor and probably everyone’s current deep concealment pistol.
Other RUclips channels have done comparisons between the Bodyguard 2.0 and the Ruger LCP Max. Some and replied with their own comparisons on Reddit. All say the Bodyguard is much better.
I'm really wanting this .380, because my current .380 is a Tisas Fatih 380, which is a fantastic firearm; but wow does it just punch the back of my palm with its' direct-blowback action - worse than my 10mm
Justin.... GLOCK ❤
Lookin to get the 2.0 my lcp max needs a vacation .
fiocchi ammo 380acp is very poor in any gun everybody in the club has problem what fiocchi 380 ACP

Suggestion. Clean. & lube pistol. Shoot 200 rounds. Clean & lube. Ben ch sights. Then ev😅al based on 100 rounds. Then comment on pro's
S & con's. Then shoot another 500 rounds & re-evaluate. Then may your slide release, trigger kinesthetic, & sighting may be more valid & helpful.
I wont be getting one, as S&W has chosen to ignore the restricted states. Very disappointing.
It's been like 3 weeks always comes afterwards though it's annoying. Not much needed other than 2 10 rounders
I live in Massachusetts with 10 10-round mag limit. I got my gun shop to order it for me. When it arrived at the shop, they took the 12 round mag out and let me take the gun with the 10 mag. They were also nice enough to have their gunsmith modify the 12 mag into a 10 mag.
They developed a new pistol and didn't include the 2.0 grip texturing? Odd choice on that one..
This grip texture is awesome. It’s perfect in the hand. Pick one up and you will see
You’d think S&W would have fixed the sight alignment before shipping them. Glock would be a better choice…
I’ve heard many shoot to the left. Has anyone checked the factory to see if it is a common issue
I like that holster you had at the beginning of this video you have a link or where did you get that from please
It’s a Desantis Nemesis. They’re available everywhere.
..that brand or Remora or Sticky Holster ,, all similar .... available online ..

I would not get this pistol without the manual safety . Period. The safety should be extended
