    Finally, someone who knows the proper way to play the intro/verse riff. For years and years I've seen people play every note wrong and tab every note wrong, and it killed part of my soul every time. It's like, there's countless videos of him playing it live, you can see what he's fretting. Well done.

      blitzkriegwitchcraft thanks for noticing, man! I study tons of live footage and try to get all the riffs as close as possible for every lesson I make. Teaching the songs correctly was one of my main motivations for doing the lessons in general.

    I'd love to see you throw down some Candlemass songs... they're a bit more on the metal side of doom (less fuzz more marshall) but especially some of the riffs off Epicus Doomicus Metallicus are legendary. (But if you do stick in more Electric Wizard territory, I won't be sad!)

    love the Drop B tuning, one of my fav for 6s Guitar
    used to use it a lot but i also love A tuning
    but is only truly tiring the amount of times my sixth string gets out of tune cos of my preference for lower tuning
    is truly annoying ):((

    I believe Electric Wizard use Drop B tuning, not B standard. They also play with 9 gauge strings. After seeing them live I could tell it was in Drop B from the way Jus was playing with one finger and he also plays really softly. He lets the fuzz and the volume do the work for him...very similar to Justin Broadrick from Godflesh.

    • @DoesItDoom
      @DoesItDoom  5 лет назад +3

      Nope. There are hundreds of videos on RUclips showing them clearly playing in B-Standard. I literally learned this song watching live footage. Never seen him baring like a Drop Tuning ever. Jus uses 10-52 strings. He also hasn’t used fuzz in over 10 years.

    • @nicoguarini28
      @nicoguarini28 Год назад

      You must be lying cuz if you ever really saw the Wizard live, you would know Jus doesn't use 1 finger drop tunings of any kind and never has! It's people like you spreading false info that mess up YT for others who want to learn the right way to play their fav songs. Steve from Does it doom even called you out and you didn't reply nothing at all? You suck. Lol.........

    Hey, I know ur a fan of Father Iommi, and idk if u have seen them before, but this place in the UK called Oil City Pickups has a set of Tony Iommi tribute P90s called "The Void" they are wound to, like, 21k at the bridge and 17k at the neck, and if you talk to the guy (because each set is made to order) he can even do a humbucker sized version. Maybe something you would do a review on?

    • @DoesItDoom
      @DoesItDoom  5 лет назад

      That output is absurd if you ask me. Iommi’s P-90 in the bridge of his Monkey SG was likely no higher than 9.5kOhm. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @lordimpaler3899
      @lordimpaler3899 5 лет назад +1

      @@DoesItDoom Ive heard he had experimented with some stupidly hot pickups. One of his sgs has a panel on the back so he can just switch pickups out as needed. I cant remember which one it is, but it looks like ithas a rear pickguard

    • @DoesItDoom
      @DoesItDoom  5 лет назад

      Not Answering yeah, that’s correct, but that was after the classic era, around TE / NSD when he started using the John Birch Guitar. Very hot / high impedance humbucking pickups in both that and his Jaydee Old Boy guitars.

    • @lordimpaler3899
      @lordimpaler3899 5 лет назад

      @@DoesItDoom I like that era. Have you ever seen their shows from that time? You can tell there was a lot of cocaine being used
      But can u imagine the feedback from those p90s? The most awesome thing to do would be just have them go from the selector switch to the output jack. If you neede controls, use 1meg pots and have a pretty fat cap on the tone

      Hey John, this video is a few years old so I can’t say for sure. Mode II with bass somewhere between 3 o’clock and max, and treble between noon and 3 o’clock. Level full and gain around 3 o’clock. If I had to guess.

    Super helpful video! You’ve absolutely earned yourself a sub! I love how you include the gear you use as well, including the string type you use.
    I also have a question about the strings: is there a string gauge/brand you would prefer to use if you played along with the whole album? I think the band changes their tunings for different songs on Dopethrone, so I was wondering if there’s one single string set you would use for the entire album.

    • @DoesItDoom
      @DoesItDoom  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks man. Some songs are in A#\Bb Standard and others in B for sure. Not sure if other tunings were used. For those tunings the 11-52 work fine for me, but I prefer light strings.
