  • Here is one of my favourite camp stove meals, Mac and Cheese. To cook this camping stove meal I'm using my MSR Pocket Rocket 2 and my Sea to Summit X Set 21 cookset. The MSR Pocket Rocket 2 camping stove is one of the most popular camp stoves out there. Combined with the Sea to Summit X Set 21, these are great choices of backpacking gear perfect for camp cooking food outdoors.
    The Pocket Rocket 2 backpacking stove strikes the perfect balance of weight, quality and price. I purchased mine in the sale for just £25. It cooks mac n cheese perfectly as it's got a really good valve to control the gas flow.
    The Sea to Summit X Set 21 is a camping cookset on another level. It comes complete with cup, bowl and 1.4L pot and weighs just 394 grams all together.
    Visit my new Amazon Shop! www.amazon.co.uk/shop/backpac...
    This is what they say:
    The next-generation PocketRocket® 2 stove takes everything impressive about the iconic original and puts it into an even smaller and lighter high-performance design. Barely noticeable in your pack, it’s fast at camp, boiling 1 liter of water in 3.5 minutes. Precision flame control goes from torch to simmer, while our WindClip® windshield boosts efficiency in breezy conditions. New folding pot supports create an exceptionally tiny packed size, and they now accommodate a wider range of vessels-pair this stove with the MSR Titan® Kettle for the ultimate fast and light kit.
    Ultralight: Weighs just 73 g (2.6 oz.)
    Fast: Boils 1 liter of water in just 3.5 minutes.
    Compact: Folding pot supports pack exceptionally small, fitting into an MSR Titan or Insulated Mug.
    Strong: Robust pot supports offer excellent stability.
    Wind-Resistant: WindClip™ wind protection and focused burner pushes a persistent, solid flame.
    Includes: Ultralight, hard-shell carry case.
    *For best results with canister fuel, always burn MSR® IsoPro™ fuel.

    Cool video. I enjoyed your review of the Jetboil summit skillet. I'll take a look at that cook set. I'm always looking for new backpacking gear.
    That pasta/cheese/meat mix looks delicious.

    Neato pot from S2S. Ordered the pot, bowl and mug from S2S, had the best price. Gave a -10% discount code and bought an orange long spoon and spork to qualify for free shipping. Thanks, Andy. This was in the US.

      I use the cup and bowl all the time. Now I've got a little camping stove I'll use the pot more. Great pieces of kit, light and compact.

      Received my x set 21 today. Pretty neat. I paid $40US from S2S. I went on their site to check something out and the cookset now costs $74.95. Go figure.

    Can you use the sea to summit x pot to fry? It was my understanding you couldn't heat them without the pot having liquid inside it

    • @BackpackingUK
      @BackpackingUK  7 месяцев назад +1

      To be honest, I haven’t tried it as I always use a pan for frying.

    Dude, if you could only buy one again, would you choose the jetboil pot or the x pot

    • @BackpackingUK
      @BackpackingUK  Год назад +1

      If you’ve got the space the Jetboil. If not the S2S packs up really, really small for the size of it.

    Whoa, hold the phone. What was that brilliant little gadget you used to ignite the gas? Looks like some kind of ferro rod with one hand operational capability. What are those called? 😊

    QUESTION on these plastic walled cooking pots - are the walls of such pots made from some sort of heat proof plastic, or are the manufacturers relying on the flames from the stove not passing beyond the base > which I suppose, most of the time, would be okay, but if you happen to drop a clanger, are you risking melting part of the pot, or damaging it? I do like the look of these ... But I'd need to know more, before moving away from trusty titanium ;-)

    • @BackpackingUK
      @BackpackingUK  2 года назад +1

      It's not plastic, it's a type of rubber.

      @@BackpackingUK Thanks for clarifying. Is it heat proof then? Or do you have to be careful?

    A camera above the stove would have shown the Choriso- pasta Mac and Cheese cooking. You could make this and place it in sealed bags ready to just heat up - Goes nice with PEK ham as well. I usually add half a teaspoon of dried English mustard as well which give the Pasta a bit of a kick.

      Last time I tried that I burnt the pasta to the bottom of my Jetboil MiniMo. Never again! Thanks for the tip on the mustard, I’ll try that 👍
