I think reviewers should start focusing on the EV "gas-guzzlers" like this one or the Ionic5. Sure it's cool that you can charge really fast but just like with petrol: if one car averages 20kW/100km and the other one 30kW/100km it's still going to use a lot more electricity on a given trip. With DC Fast charging in most of the EU (excluding Norway) for non-Tesla cars still costing around 50ct to 80ct/kW you're looking at 5 to 8 euro per 100km of extra cost.
@@virtualmartijn Come on, shut up! Every other EV carmaker has the same weight problems, not only Audi with this e-Tron Coupe. By the way, the range numbers are also not the most imortant thing, as we all know much more important is the speed of the whole charging system.

I just bought the prestiege S sportback in blue. And my final decesion was based on the videos that you and your wife made and this review. I wish that I would have traded my BMW i8 for this before I traded it for the KIA EV6 GT LINE.
Just started looking at these, very few of these were ordered and few available used in Canada it seems. But given the SQ8 etron price which all hover around 128K CAD after options, these E-Tron S used can be had for under about 85K CAD. We only got the sportback though, wish we did have the SUV version like the US. Hoping to work a dealer down to a price that would be closer to a Tesla MYP/Mach-E GT as these were the only other two I was looking at.
80-90? lol more like 90-100. It's a lovely car and one of the few you can get in DARK GREEN holy cow. Only problem is to get the not 'looks like a quilt' seats is another $2k and the sportback makes it $5k more expensive. Then the sport package takes it over 100k fast.
Going stupidly fast is fun, and completely impractical. Quick acceleration without spinning tires on clean dry pavement is good enough. Cruising along at top highway speeds doesn't take a shit ton of HP. Getting from A to B for half that much money will suffice.
Lithium Ion batteries are used in most of these EVs. Why do the e-Trons charge at a higher rate than other models? Are they using an 800v architecture, or are they sacrificing battery longevity by giving it an aggressive charging curve?
Not every lithium ion battery is the same. There are different chemistry’s, you could say that the e-Tron uses a more expensive mixture which enables it to charge quicker. Also the e-Tron got a big top and bottom buffer for safety and longevity.
They don’t use 800v , I believe is the buffer in the battery, I get up to 250 miles in mine, is epa tested at 222 . From 5% to 80% it does it in 23 minutes and another 10 to 12 minutes to 100%. At 97% you are still getting 67kw , I believe that they open up battery usage in updates as it ages, I put a lot of miles in mine with no noticeable degradation , I monitor the batteries with scanner, so far so good.
Are you sure about the induction motor wants rpm to perform? The old Tesla S was induction, and pulled full power from zero rpm? The new Tesla's are supposed to be slower from a stand still because they went to the more efficient permanent magnet ones.
Kyle always great. Really well built & attractive Audi, but it feels like to most innovation is (ironically) coming from the land of cheap energy and pickup trucks. Lucid, Tesla & Rivian (& Ford) seem to be making the most waves lately.
You just don't or can't listen, buddy! Would be better for you to watch this video again! First of all, German EVs are totally "premium", and therefore there is no need for beating a bad quality company like Tesla in irrelevant "drag races", which still is just one trick pony shit. Still making propaganda for the same old one trick pony-capabilities of Tesla EVs will get more and more out of fashion, because the customers will realize what's more important having EVs from Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Volkswagen. For example the Mercedes EQS is the most luxury EV today, the Porsche Taycan drives circles around any Tesla (no matter how fast a Tesla is in any one trick pony shit competition), because its the best EV drivers car with the BY FAR best driving dynamics, best steering, best brakes, best quality. The Tesla Model S still is just a one trick pony vehicle, which overheats very quickly after using it hard. Many test laps around the Nürburgring Nordschleife have shown, that Tesla has no clue about effective cooling! Maybe one fast lap with a Tesla, but that's it before it will overheat! The Porsche Taycan doesn't have such battery cooling problems at all, buddy! Porsche Taycan and Audi e-Tron GT battery charging curves are without any competition, with both the same 270 kW charging capability. Just watch Kyles video about the e-Tron GT and you will see, that it's much more important for an EV, having a faster charging curve, than having the most of range. The actual "Cannonball" EV record holder car is a Porsche Taycan 4S. Guess why....?? The Porsche Taycan models are the fastest electric cars on the road, even at charging, and therefore the best cars for longer road trips with an EV. Believe or not! By the way: Taycan and e-Tron GT both have amazing braking recuperation capability of 293 kW. Tesla vehicles don't even have 100 kW recuperation power, as I was told. This is ridiculous! Today, the still unexperienced start up company Tesla still has the crappiest build quality of all "premium car makers" (but in my eyes Tesla isn't "premium" at all) compared to the big four German car makers... sorry, together with VW the big five German car makers. I really fear the same build quality shit will happen to Rivian and Lucid, because building mass produced luxury EVs or the best handling EVs, is a very hard game for these unexperienced companies. The Germans are just way better with all the rest of building really high quality vehicles. That's what Germans can do best. And not only making a huge battery on wheels, an claiming it the fastest thing on earth. In my eyes, such battery overheating vehicles don't matter. You really have no fucking clue, how much better German EVs are compared to Tesla, Lucid or Rivian, buddy!

The new Model S Long Range is far superior. Better range, better tech, good OTA updates, as quick as a Taycan Turbo, more cargo space surprisingly, supercharging, resale value is MUCH better, more convenient to use, over 1200 pounds lighter, and list just goes on. The Audi Etron S is slower than a base Model Y with 2K acceleration boost software, very inefficient, horrible resale value, etc. The ONLY things really going for the Etron is massaging seats, build quality, and it is slightly quitter cabin. I know someone said it is more refined but in my opinion it is not because the brake pedal feel and one pedal driving is not as good as Teslas. Also weighing 5750 pounds for a 2 row crossover just makes driving feel weird because you can easily feel the weight.
