LGR is one of those few youtube channels that keeps getting better and better with growing popularity. Most channels get "lazy" (yes, the irony) once they hit a critical mass of subscribers. Clint! I love your accent, I love your dry "Canadian" humor (I know you are American, but you really sound like a Canadian), and I love the amount of research you put into your videos. Big thumbs up.
You quote whores are just a pain in the ass. Do you really think that those who already watched the video need a reference to a quote they've rleady heard?!
Holy balls! The way you hold those floppies in front of the camera is SO SMOOTH at 60 fps! It's like I'm actually there, with my face awkwardly pushed up against your hands!
For some reason I keep expecting to see Caleb on the "Blood" table. Yes, I know that _Blood_ is Monolith/3D Realms and not Epic/Microleague, and that _Silverball_ was 1993 while _Blood_ didn't come out until 1997, but still!
I fucking love the whole atmosphere that these games of that time brought into the room. This was new and awesome when I had my first PC in the early nineties. This video's going to 1024p60, because I'm going to love this one for sure!
Video was great. I agree completely. I played Silverball after Epic Pinball and was surprised to see the gameplay suck so bad. The music on the Fantasy and Nova tables are awesome though. I regularly play those mods in WinAmp. (yeah, I have a hard time letting go of the past sometimes)
The good days of pinball video games. I loved Pinball Dreams to the death. But Epic Pinball was really nice. I played also Silverball. But it's good to know that this sequel isn't really a sequel. This explains a lot of things. I need to play Extreme Pinball. some day.
Great review LGR as always. I hope we see more pinball game reviews, especially Extreme Pinball. That had some real kick-ass music and gameplay (a-la Pinball Dreams/Fantasies/Illusions)!
It's sad to find out as an adult how poor these all were as games. I loved Silverball the most as a kid, especially Nova (for its music and space ships). Used to play them every night with my late father. Set the first animation I ever made as a kid back in 4th grade to the song from Nova. Will always have a special place in my heart.
Wow, this was one of my favourite pinball games back in the day. I didn't even know it was this obscure. Still, my number one pinball game is Psycho Pinball. :-)
This is really freakin' cool to see! The tables may not be that great, but its story makes it a really interesting piece to have in your collection. I never new there were more than the 13 tables from Epic Pinball, so this was a treat to see.
Looking at those tables, I just KNOW I've played them before, but for the life of me I can't remember when. I still have the Epic Pinball Collection (13 tables on a cd-rom...GREAT!) and Extreme Pinball; those could stand to make it to GoG sometime IMO. Though the Epic Pinball tables remind me of around 1996, when my store got a bunch of shareware titles in boxes for a dollar each. This included Super Android, Cyborgirl and Enigma tables from EP. I bought these before I found the Collection, and they were all on 3 1/2" floppies. Anyway, I had a lady come in and see these games, and asked about them. She said she just got a "new" computer and wanted to know if she could run them. I asked if she had a 3 1/2" floppy drive, and got a blank stare. "Do you have a hard drive?" Blank stare again. "Okay, do you have a color monitor?" Her face lights up. "Yes. It's green." Oh, and the "new" computer? It was "new" to her, because her mother found it for her at the local thrift. It's been a loooong time since I had to work retail....
These goddamn physics that had a penchant for sending the ball right through the unreachable dead center between the flippers or at full force by surprise through the outlanes after a crazy bounce you didn't expect, ALL THE GODDAMN TIME
Probably played this more than Epic Pinball when I was younger. Still have fond memories of the Fantasy table's music. But yeah, I suppose that's rose-tinted glasses for ya.
The fantasy-themed tables in Silverball used to really suck me in when I played them as a kid. Every light turning on, every fixture animation, every multiplier message would make me feel like the table was telling me a story. Uh, let's just say the 90's were a different time. Kids were more easily entertained.
I wonder why he never approached DICE to publish it, or even port pinball illusions for them? (Or was it pinball dreams or pinball fantasies, can never remember which order they came in :D)
Man, I lost it at the mint flavored allegory ! PS : I only played Pinball Illusions and Pinball Dreams (Amiga forever \o/ ), never played Epic pinball or any other PC pinball game... Seems like I have a lot of old goodies to play ! (as usual). PPS : This video reminded me fo your 3D Ultra pinball review. Upon arriving on it's page I found that I forgot to press the Like button (kind of addicted to smash that button for every LGR video I guess). Fixed now. ;-)
I used to have a pinball game for my Mac back in the day and one of the maps (maybe the only map) had you building a habitat on mars or something. I had 3 different tables (middle, left and right) and you had to tap things in the right order to make entire new structures come down... I wish I knew what it was called or find it again...
This came out in 1993 and it ran at silky-smooth 60 frames per second without anyone complaining that it ran faster than their eyes could handle or that it doesn't look cinematic enough. So what's your excuse, video game industry of today? None? Good, maybe you will finally get your bloody priorities straight then. If I want the best in computer generated graphics I can get running at a sub-60 framerate, I go to the *cinema.* Okay, enough of my rant, I still have about four and a half minutes to watch.
I spent countless hours playing this game and forgot it existed until watching this video. Pretty cool. I didn't have epic pinball back then so I didn't know what I was missing apparently... I enjoyed playing the shit out of this though.
1:45 - I know I'm a few years late and you mentioned this in your other Epic Pinball video, but Epic Pinball was actually sold in retail stores and not just by mail or phone order only. Here in Australia in ~1993, at Dick Smith Electronics, it was easily available on the shelf and had a full retail box with three floppy disks (seen here: www.mobygames.com/game/dos/epic-pinball/cover-art/gameCoverId,70521/). Looks like other parts of the world, yours included, didn't receive a retail box. Which sucks because Epic Pinball is quite literally, epic.
If nothing else, at least the music in Silverball (except Blood and Warbot) was good. Hmm, here's a weird thought. I wonder if it would be possible to hack Silverball's tables into Epic Pinball, giving the latter a grand total of 20 pinball tables to play.
ahhh Pinball dreams............. Still my favorite Amiga pinball game. (well only one of two pinballgames ive played, the other beeing Pinball illusions)
I honestly want Epic Pinball to come back on Steam! Put in something called a "Epic Megagames Classic" collection: Epic Pinball, Jazz Jackrabbit, One Must Fall 2097. Who would want to see this?
Hey Clint. Did you ever play Night Mission Pinball on the C64. Must of been my first pinball video game. Not sure how well it holds up today but it holds some fond memories.
Men, I still wish someone could pick up Epic Pinball and try on improving it. And add these tables from Silverball as additional tables and improve them as well to be on par with Epic pinball tables.
Heh, I remember making videos of various DOS pinball games around 5-6 years ago :) (Silverball has Duel, which is basically a worse version of Magic :P)
Has the table "Odissey" been used in some other title? Maybe with an angel at the bottom instead of the giant, and the actual ball shaped like the Earth?
Please do review of Sid and Al: Incredible toons. I love that game so much that i was able to solve it on my own when I was 14. Took me 6 months though.
Now I'm wondering if you could easily recreate the tables in VPinball... And then could possibly work on some of the issues that these tables have (like the vast and empty space where you could easily have a target bank, maybe a multiball hole in "Blood", a large bumper or maybe a curved surface in Odyssee...).
I don't think the source code is available anywhere - but I think the manuals may contain the rules for each table (well, maybe except the add-on tables).
Best DOS pinball game I ever played was "Psycho Pinnball" from Codemasters! I still play it today and I realy didn't understand why everybody was so amazed by "Epic Pinnball" which is just bad in comparison to psycho.

Still one of my favorite LGR analogies.
@@somoneelse3488 sad thing is...flavored suppositories exist
@@alexanderveritas You cannot be serious. Really, man?
I'd love to see Epic revive their old titles. Especially ZZT, if only to see what a modern ZZT would even look like.

Pinball Fantasies had the most awesome PC Speaker music I've ever heard.
Pinball Dreams too. Those two games are superior compared to Epic Pinball, I don't get Clint's fixation with it.

Just saw 60fps for first time. Blown away. Looks kick ass.
new favorite youtube channel. just found yallz. thanks for being rad.
Nice, glad you're enjoying, duderz
Played alot of silverball and other pinballs back in the 90s. Still this is my favourite pinball game for boards, interactions and music.
Today was pay day for me, but coming home and seeing a new LGR episode is way better than my payment.
Wow, 60fps. The ball movement is so smooth. Thanks LGR!
dat 60fps!♥♥♥
love it LGR, your videos I mean, 60fps is just icing ontop of your sweet audible chocolate voice
Haha, he would make an excellent radio DJ with that buttery smooth voice!
Why do I like the look of that dragon? he looks like he's dancing to his favorite song or something.
Epic Pinball's soundtrack was pure bliss!

I remember Silverball - played it as a child.
"...Silverball is perfect!"

There was Pinball Illusions of sorts called "True Pinball". I know it was on PS1 and Saturn but not sure if it saw a PC release.
Hey you! You're that guy!
You must be confusing me with someone else :D

Pinball dreams and slam tilt are my favs till today on the amiga. Btw i always have this feeling that the ball is flying in these types of games :-D
Yep patrioti, Slam Tilt is the best 2d pinball ever made :)
Alex Reality nai. One for ocs and one for aga. Indeed slam is technicaly awesome and pdreams has a great mood, especially in the space level. :-D

"Mint-flavored suppository"
Bahahaha! Oh my... LGR you side-splitter.
I love that game and played the heck out of it... but then I again I never heard of Epic Pinball until much later.
I think this is my first 60fps RUclips video I've seen. :)
OMFG! My first pinball game!
I love pinball fantasies and it's music
Both Pinball Dreams and Epic Pinball look a lot better then any Genesis games I had at the time! And I like the Genesis.
Adventure Pinball Forgotten Island is one of the best PC pinball games in my opinion.
I think my dad still has a computer somewhere in storage that has this! I remember seeing it played, but that was years ago.
One of my favorite pinball games from that era was Slam Tilt, especially the car table (I forget the name).
Mean Machines... Slamtilt is the best 2D pinball game ever imo
The comment about the suppository made my morning! I couldn't stop laughing. Thank You!
THE BURNING QUESTION!: Is it compatible with the thrustmaster wizzard pinball controller? haha :)
The burning question might be that mint flavored suppository.
(Yep, I'm replying four years later...)
Nothing beats Psycho Pinball... pinball DOS-based king.
I wonder if its hard to port those tables to Epic Pinball, at least it would fix the "physics"
Ever since I was a young boy, I played the Silverball...
Actually no, I've never played any of these. I just love that song.
Oh! This is what that song was about! I didn't realize that

LGR... in 60 FPS! Groovy!
Hey, LGR. How about a review for Balls of Steel?
Still looking for a boxed copy, but I hope to cover it! If only because the Duke.
Funny enough, James Schmalz is making Warframe now and playing it I sometimes feel like being the ball in the pinball machine.
♫ Silverball, silverball
It's Pinball time in the city♫
Dean "Pinball" Martin xD :P
Great review, LGR.
omg you have 60fps now!!!!!!!!!!
as a BIO lass I found you micro Vs macro joke hilarious :)
My first computer I ever owned was an Amiga 500!
***** That's pretty hardcore.

Nice, TI-99/4A and C64 here.
Ditto on the Amiga 500, followed by a PC. I feel like an alien whenever people go on about their childhood consoles.
Tandy 2000

Hmm, here's a weird thought. I wonder if it would be possible to hack Silverball's tables into Epic Pinball, giving the latter a grand total of 20 pinball tables to play.

I played this a lot as a kid.
Nothing will ever beat Little Wing.
Hello are you there LGR!
I uh... Know many LGR episodes by heart :)
Would be more clever if these Silverball boards be included to Epic Pinball? That way Silverball might never need to appear to later be obscured.
You should do a whole series on digital pinball games. There are so many running the gamut from god awful to awesome.
I honestly want Epic Pinball to come back on Steam! Put in something called a "Epic Megagames Classic" collection: Epic Pinball, Jazz Jackrabbit, One Must Fall 2097.

my childhoods pinball... :)

lmao....That was great, a mint flavored suppository.....

I noticed the artwork at 1:55 says Team 17 on it, looked it up and wiki says Team 17 published this game, weird
googleboughtmee In Europe, yes.
A classic for me

You need to review Pro Pinball Timeshock!.
Agreed.
DOS in 60fps ftw
Best DOS pinball game I ever played was "Psycho Pinnball" from Codemasters!
I still play it today and I realy didn't understand why everybody was so amazed by "Epic Pinnball" which is just bad in comparison to psycho.
Oh boy, I still love to play Solar Winds.
I played a pinball game many hours, were we could build our own tables... Anyone knows the name? I forgot.
Do a review on slam tilt please
Obsession is still my fave pinball game, Atari STE version.
:D - always watch out for those pesky asteoids they can really mess up your game of Piball! (Yes I deliberately missed out the 'N' there!).
Today I found a Spanish Edition in big box format. Bought it for 5€ 😄👍
What's your thoughts on Pinball FX2?
Playing the game again right now and OMG I NEED that manual! Is there any chance you could scan and UL it? Should be legal as it's abandonware anyway. I would be sure t leave a tip... :D
I played Pinball games in my childhood but I never understood what's the point.
I dare you to try and hold a Duke Nukem "Steel" for a long as you can.
I used to have this! Once changed the high scores outside of the program and annoyed my father..
i feel dumb for asking but all of my youtube options are resolution and annotations. so how do i enable 60 fps?
itaybron You'll need a computer fast enough and a browser that supports it. Newest version of Chrome, for instance!
Lazy Game Reviews
odd. my computer/internet speed is fast enough and i have the latest version of firefox
Lazy Game Reviews
hmm Is there no support for 60fps on firefox atm?
Lazy Game Reviews Internet Explorer supports 60fps youtube too. Firefox is really far behind at the moment.
