i know i'm a bit late but yeah i just finished TASing this minigame myself and yeah the moles actually appear faster than you can hit them. I think it ends up being that the moles spawn ~every 2 frames and you can only hit a mole every 4 frames (NSMB runs at 60 FPS)

They only score once the game ends,(when you lose) so yeah, its posible to see how much points you can get on the "High Score" text as seen on the top left conner. These minigames also don't have an ending, they will go endlessly. So i don't think they have an ending programanded.
I've studie the minigame picture thing with luigi to see how the random work when you pic cards you know that sort of poker in nsmb ds so if you can help me found the random values in hex editor, i dont found theme
I feel like all TAS's really are are just having a separate program and editing a series of button inputs and saving them as a demo while the game pretty much plays itself based on the demo file.
