What a dynasty! (no pun untended) SCV takes a year off and returns to win the Sanford Award once again. And that's a difficult task when the corps placed 6th. Congratulations to Paul, Sandi and all of the percussion staff and students. You were missed and we're glad you're back.
There’s such a thing as a “clean” drumline, but Santa Clara Vanguard takes it to a whole new level EVERY YEAR…. No wonder they named the best drum trophy the Fred Sanford award…🎤🔥🥁✌️
I was here for semis and finals, and hearing these guys in person is something else. They have the best sound quality year after year. Paul rennick is the best battery head/arranger in DCI history in my opinion. 5 Sanfords in SCVs last 6 years of competition? Undeniable 💯
They were a complete section from front to battery. That is why they won. I saw them at their recording session for Rennick Drums on the Wednesday of finals week and their wasn't any doubt. I have taken part in that recording session for Paul since he was at Regiment and this group didn't have any weakness that would have detoured them from winning the Sanford trophy this year. SCV "takes a year off". I don't get this statement at all, yet I keep seeing it. Aren't almost all of those members in UNT? Where Rennick teaches? Playing year round under him? There is no year off ... ever.
You have more time to work specifically with individual players and I know not all techs are available all season, some kind of do just a area thing. I would imagine most got to finals weekend though so it seems like a lot
An arc, with no met, and zero cheerleading from the staff when parts get fast. Just work needing to be done so it gets done. Grown 🤘🏿
I'll admit I do enjoy some hype lots but a lot of it feels over done nowadays
Amen, love the bit about cheerleading - something I hate to see!

9:27 was so clean during semis and finals.
its crazy how much this sounds like phantoms early 2000s drumline beautiful.
these might be the best rimshots I've ever heard from a drumline. just phenomenal sound quality
Not normally an SCV fan….but I’m pretty sure those snare features are the reason they won drums. 9:27 just hits so nicely.

Straight fire!
I made a comment about left hand snare fuzz…. I take it back! Plus…. Bass splits. Fire!!!
I thought Boston was gonna take it…..SCV!
Did Rennick inject a substance into the left hands of the snares?
Sick!
I miss those days
GOAT quadline, seriously
amazing energy!
Regular randos don't know how hard it is to do this.
I agree
I wish they did DCI in general deserves more attention
🐐
It's hard to believe how long the sound takes to get to the mic. Whoa.
Do you have anymore videos of people in the lot

Who ran UNT 1988-95?
Float was at Nevada…
What is there to get? SCV didn't field a corps in 2023. What these drummers were doing at the time has nothing to do with that specific fact.

Even if your statement made any sense, there is the entire rest of the corps?
In the first couple minutes of the video, why is his count off faster than what they play?
really nice dynamics at :48
Why are there so many battery techs - can someone explain this?

@@guywholikesheelies3231 Thank you for the new perspective.
