Hi Terry, Yes, you could use basting glue for added security. It's very handy and keeps everything right where you want it without having to fuss around. But the seam guide is a fantastic little accessory! Thanks for watching.
Hi Karen, That seam guide is designed for BERNINA sergers and unfortunately doesn't fit other brands. I had a LOT of viewers say the same thing. Sorry about that. But if I come across something similar that is generic, I'll let you know. Thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips!
You'll have to try it and see if it fits the knife guard on your Janome. It's a BERNINA product but it might fit because most of the knife guards seem to be about the same size. Thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips!
Love the seam guide! It also comes as a standard accessory with the Bernina L460. I use mine a lot for flatlock serging. Perfectly even stitches. Thank you for this Tip Clip.
Hi Donna, Babylock has a seam guide for Coverstitch mode but I don’t think there is a similar one to the BERNINA guide for overlock mode. You could substitute Clover’s 6-in-1 Stitch & Stick notion. It works great and doesn’t leave any residue. Or purchase the BERNINA Seam Guide separately. It would probably fit your machine, but you’d have to try it. If it does fit, you’d use it exactly the same way as shown in the video. Hope that helps and thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips!.
Have you determined the max width the seam guide will work? I tried to use the seam guide on a sleeve hem of 1.25" and the fabric got caught in the back of the piece that holds the guide. Thanks.
In overlock mode, you don't want the fabric to go past the position of the knife or it could get tangled in the upper looper, and that's not a good thing. For hemming, are you doing a blindstitch or reverse flatlock?
@@GailPatriceDesign I think I am just doing an overlock stitch - that is, I have two needles on the top and the bottom thread is catching the two. It's not a blindstitch as I know on my Bernina 740, and I know it is not a reverse flatlock. So, maybe I was "assuming" that the guide would help in keeping a hem straight. I do appreciate your questions! Thanks Gail.
Wonderful video!
I just used the seam guide for 1/4" seam allowances and they're perfect. (Even better than on my sewing machine. Thanks for watching!
Gail, I always enjoy your serger tip clips. In addition to the seam guide, would some basting glue help keep the pieces aligned?

I wish they made one of these for my singer!

How do I know if it is a 1/4 in seam?

It’s a wonderful accessory and as you said, it works well for so many types of applications. Thanks for watching!
Could you show how to do this on a Babylock serger?

Hi Mary, Are using the seam guide in overlock mode for a hem?
@@GailPatriceDesign Yes, sorry I didn't make that clear. Any suggestions?

Did that come with my L890? I don’t remember seeing it.
Yes
Hi Lynn, yes, it should be inside the tin box. Find it and snap it on. You will love it.
Found it, thanks. I just ordered your pattern for the tablet pattern
@@lynnleipold2617 Your order will be shipped tomorrow and thanks! Glad you found the seam guide.
Nice
Thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips Mary!
