Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

Initially I thought you were going to jump out at the apex of the loop, fall and then have the plane come pick you up. Or that could be a new challenge to try.

That wasn't a hard or time consuming edit to do. Payment things isn't about being the edit funny or not, its all about effort and time.
So IDEA for part 2:
First, it gets auto-stabilization before starting the loop. This way there is no variable starting angle. It always starts the loop leveled. This will allow it to be consistent with less room for pilot error and it all comes down to the programming of the angles and thrust. Next, no character hovering allowed, you don't jump out at the start of the loop, you jump out when the plane is up-side-down at the peak of the loop. The goal is to have the plane catch you from a GRAVETY FALL (meaning you are in free-fall and the plane swoops down to catch you).
You cannot hover but you can use X-Y movement (sideways, forward, and backwards movement, wasd controls), just not Z movement (up and down), gravity has full control of that axis.

Hey Scrapman. If it’s even possible, what if you made a plane that tries to catch a falling pilot? I think that would be a cool (and extremely difficult) thing to make.
Thats what I originally thought this video was gonna be, It could still be cool, like a downwards loop that you start inverted.
I could totally be done with measuring how fast the pilot falls than adding a pid controller to the plane that tries to go down a certain altitude faster than the pilot is falling.. Or just try a 1000 times.
@@-Duo no it's not, majority of people thought it would be he jumps out and falls and as he is falling the plane catches him. Like something Tom Cruise would do

@@michaelvey42 yes, it can be made with logic gates and a few sensors
I think the main thing you're forgetting is that wings tend to have lift, and while intuitively you might think that balances out during a loop (and it might depending on your weight/lift ratio at that speed), you slow down slightly when increasing altitude, thus reducing lift. I know you eventually ended up doing what you wanted lol, just wanted to help explain the variability in the loop height and whatnot (and I find aerodynamics cool)

The reason the plane ends up "forward" is because the shape isn't a circle, it instead forms a clothoid. (Looks like an upside down teardrop)
There is still a crossover point, which is why pitching up works for getting back in - it puts you closer to the crossover point.
YEA BECAUSE THE FIRST THING HE WAS DOING WHERE IT WAS TOO SHARP WAS AN KULBIT BUT A BIT EXTENDED THIS ALSO APLISES TO WHAT YOU WHERE SAYING BECAUSE THE FORWARD MOMENTUM WAS ALSO MAKING THE LOOP WIDER WHILE THE THRUSTERS WHERE POINTING UPWARD SO ITS WHEN YOU SEE FOR EXAMPLE THE BLUE ANGELS DO A DIRTY LOOP (A LOOP WITH THE GEARS DOWN) THEY GO UNTO AFTERBURNER FOR TAKEOFF AND THEN 1/3 OF THE LOOP THEN THEY START KIND OF JUST BARLEY MAKING THE APEX THEN FALLING DOWN WHILE GAINING SPEED BUT AT FIRST WHEN HE WAS DOING A KULBIT HE WAS TURNING SHARP ENOUGH THAT THE THRUST KIND OF KEPT A BIT OF ITS FORWARD AND UPWARD MOMENTUM SO IN LAMANS TERMS HE WAS TURN SO SHARP THE THRUST COULD NOT KEEP UP

Would have been nice to have to loop down rather than up and that way you can fall while the plane loop and no need to "cheat" in the air with the tool :)

If you ever want to come back to this idea (or similar unmanned vehicle concepts), you can use distance sensors to detect when your character is sitting in an open seat or not (such as the go-kart or motorcycle seats) and have the sensor(s) automatically toggle other blocks. I used this method to make a Halo Banshee that automatically turns on its thrusters and closes the canopy when the player enters the driver seat and resets it all to the default "off" conditions when the player exits, just like in the actual game
The player collision box is a bit weird at times and I learned recently that distance sensors actually only detect objects with one half of their 2x1 surface area, but you can do some really cool automated stuff with this functionality

Idea: a drone like flying hamster ball in either Scrap Mechanic, Trailmakers, or Instruments of Destruction. Whichever one sounds cooler. 😃

Trailmakers video idea: hide and seek
There are two teams. Each team has a seeker and a hider.
The seeker's job is to tag the hider of the other team before the other seeker does.
As the hider you have to try to not be tagged by the seeker.
The hider can use camouflage in order to not be found.
The seeker has to have a higher max speed than the hider(you can decide what the max
speed is). In order to make camouflage more effective the game will be set to night.
There are name tags that can be seen from across the map, but I play on console so there might be mods available that could help idk

Multiplayer Challenge:
Build a plane that you fly and then turn off all thrust when you cross the starting line. Whoever’s flies the furthest wins.
Could allow control of the aircraft or not. Completely up to you but I think that could be interesting.

i made a boomering of ; 2 sails, 1 small prop, and an altitude sensor. sometimes the simple things are also pretty cool if they turn out to work eventually..

You should protect this, then do a challenge with kan and moonbo doing Horse plan stunts. Horse like the basketball game but with planes. Just don't let them about this trick so its a complete surprise
I play on xbox Good to know that bindes disapering happens on steam too I've had entire creations get destroyed partly because of that thay also just sporadically just won't load

Hey, Srapman! I have an idea for a multiplayer challenge.
I thought about an Aerial Missile Target Shooting Challenge where there is a target [maybe in the battle arena in the Danger Zone] and whoever hits the closest with a pre-made missile [so everyone has the same missile stats]. But the trick is that you need to launch the missiles from a distance [if you choose the battle arena then maybe shoot from above the top of the mountain next to the dragstrip]. Also, multiple attempts allowed.
What do you think?
I thought it should look like you are making the loop and you jump on top of it, falling down (free fall without tool), and on the way down you are meeting plane that loop itself and jump into the seat
Idea for a challenge try make a car but it flys only when you are out the car and it does a loop and lands at the original spot and drives off again like nothing happened

You should add roll sensors so the plane stays level, and then try skimming the ground, jumping out, standing on the floor and getting back in without using the repair tool

Day 104 of asking for a Multiplayer Monday in survival mode where everyone starts at the crashed ship with a craftbot in the mechanic station. Everyone has 30 minutes to build a vehicle from scratch, gathering their own materials. No glitches, thrusters allowed, after which everyone meets up and races along some road. I think we've been missing survival for quite a bit.

I really love the new editing, or the potential atleast, it is great now, but I'm sure after a while it will become awesome

A plane that splits into three pieces, each performing a loop at different angles, and then all three landing or reconnecting after.

Hey Scrapman not sure if you’ll see this or be interested but a while back you played a game in alpha then in early access called Satisfactory, a factory building game. I was wondering if you would be able to play it, and if it gets enough attention and you still like it maybe you could do an every other Thursday or something series out of it. my freind told me about a plane used in world war 2 (i think) that was the inspiration for the modern steath bomber (i think) called the flying wing, i had no trouble finding infromation about it and idk if it is significant enough (or enough of a failure) to be on a recreations video but I think it would be cool to see

Can't you slow down the rotation on the servos for the wings? I feel like that would make doing something like this where you need to be precise a bit easier, as it would eliminate a lot of the twitchiness of the plane.
