Why did Ruby cry when it came to Summer? She barely knew her. That flashback possibly the only memory she had. I mean if it was Yang who was crying yeah. Also why didn't Yang cry?
It's natural for orphans to yearn for parents that were never there. The prime relatable example here would be Harry Potter. Harry took enormous pride in how people mentioned he was the spitting image of James and how he inherited his talents. Ruby is very much the same in these regards. Let's not discount what the memory is. It's her mom smiling at her full of life. The true (or manipulated) image is her about to die a horrible death for a seemingly hopeless cause and to try to protect her family. That's having the rug yanked from under your feet if I've ever seen it. As for Yang, I'm not entirely sure. Summer was 1000000000 times the mom to her than Raven was, but we only get a few scant lines of dialogue on their relationship from Yang directly. Salem made a grave mistake by reacting to Ruby, by bothering to treat her as important. It demonstrated Salem felt threatened by what Ruby said, and while it knocked Ruby down for an 8 count, she bounced back up, and now Ruby is stronger, that will not work on her again.

tbh the beginning felt so off tone/out of character, I legit thought I forgot to pause a video on another tap (but the rest was awesome as always)
Why did Ruby cry when it came to Summer? She barely knew her. That flashback possibly the only memory she had. I mean if it was Yang who was crying yeah. Also why didn't Yang cry?
It's natural for orphans to yearn for parents that were never there. The prime relatable example here would be Harry Potter. Harry took enormous pride in how people mentioned he was the spitting image of James and how he inherited his talents. Ruby is very much the same in these regards.
Let's not discount what the memory is. It's her mom smiling at her full of life. The true (or manipulated) image is her about to die a horrible death for a seemingly hopeless cause and to try to protect her family. That's having the rug yanked from under your feet if I've ever seen it.
As for Yang, I'm not entirely sure. Summer was 1000000000 times the mom to her than Raven was, but we only get a few scant lines of dialogue on their relationship from Yang directly. See our What Yang REALLY Thinks of Raven 2 video for more on that.
