Don't worry, Gozuki, you might be slightly easier than Mezuki, you might not be an official boss, you might not have your own soundtrack, but you still killed me WAY more than Mezuki ever has when I insisted on killing you right at the start of the game. In my eyes, you will always be the superior zuki!
Gozuki would have been a far better tutorial boss than mezuki Imo. Mez is way too fucking punishing and doesn't ease you into the game's mechanics like Goz does. If he was a boss you fought a few hours into the game I'd be fine with him, but I don't think him being the very first boss gives off a good first impression for the game's design.

They also change around attack patterns to make fights seem less impossible in certain scenarios. If they kept Gozuki and Mezuki the same during the fight it would pretty much be impossible to complete so they nerfed their attack and defense, while also changing their attack patterns to be slightly less aggressive to give the player more breathing room. Sort of like summoning spirits and other players to aid you but reversed.
Yeah, when fighting both of them I noticed they did considerably less damage and I did considerably more damage. Almost like they split the health and offense pool between the two. I could imagine if they were both as strong as they are alone, it'd probably be a bit of a doozy.
I haven’t died fighting them both yet. In a way, it was even easier than when I first fought both. And coming from someone who’s beaten Nioh 1, it likely not from a lack of skill.
@ What: that’s not quite how it works. Both Hozuki and Mezuki simply stayed the same level as you leveled up. This is a standard way RPGs show progression. Ex: you First encounter Mezuki as the first boss. Say he has 5000HP and you, being at level 6 or 7 are only doing about 45 points of dmg. When you encounter Mezuki in that arena he still has 5000 HP but you are now lv 78 and do 300 hit points. Meaning Mezuki now dies in half the hits and since you have more Heath and better armor, doesn’t do as much dmg to you.
Team ninja: puts big ass boss level ennemy as the first thing you encounter. Me, who just finished the first game: "...After all... ... ... Why not? ... What's stopping me? Nothing! ... ... *Imma kick his ass.''*
At this point of the fight, your character realizes that he can defeat Mezuki and get out of there alive beside all the dread he's feeling. When you start to play Nioh and you're not used to the game at all it feels impossible before you reach the dark realm, but then you feel hope and determination and that part of the song describes the feeling pretty well. Incredible game.
@@freshthegreat Gozuki is much harder than the asylum demon. Also the burst counter you have to be more precise. I usually end up just dodging because I am to scared to burst counter non humanoid bosses lol. 🤣
That’s not controversial. Most people agree nioh or even the ninja gaiden series is far harder than dark souls and I love the soulsbornekiroring games. What makes the dark souls series harder in some parts is just the lack of animation cancels or quick movements. You have to commit to attacks while nioh is more agile. Nioh gives you far more options and mobility, but you still get your arse kicked. There’s far less s in dodges and even the mid and high stance roll although has more s, it takes longer to recover from which leaves you open to combos.

You would've thought that those fucking asshole revenants and a Crow Tengu would've been enough. And suddenly Mezu spawns. Mezu was SOMEHOW easier than both the previous enemies.

Just don't be like me. My dumb ass SOMEHOW missed the Biwa boku-boku in the dark realm, so it kept constantly spawning revenants while I was also fighting Mezuki. I died a lot mainly because the revenants would kind of get in the way when I was focusing on the boss.

i remember when i suddenly became able to use burst counters really well from the mezuki fight and it was sick cause i was constantly like "WHAT AM I DOING? IN GENERAL? IS THIS A BURST COUNTER OR SOMETHING ELSE?!" and then BANG and he was just kneeling on the ground and i was really happy
I pre-ordered Nioh 2, i don't know why i did it, i never played Nioh before, it was the same feel i had when i pre-ordered Sekiro without playing any of the other games of FromSoftware. Sekiro was beautifully crafted and i'm having the same feel with Nioh 2. I'm having my face smashed to the ground but the game so far is awesome, epic battles, the landscape is so good and the music is EPIC in many moments, especially this one against Mezuki is so damn GOOD!
after playing through the last chance trial man, even though this guy wasn't exactly a hard boss the theme is so damn good, definitely feels like a cavalry-esque theme for a horse yokai, fits so well. thanks for uploading.
I used to think that Nioh 2 was basically Nioh remastered. But after playing it, I’m wrong. BTW: The first region of Nioh 2 has 25 kodama and the first 2 missions of the 2nd region have 7 kodama each. So far my impressions of Nioh 2 have been Amazing except for the fact that the season pass is $19.99 unlike Nioh’s that’s was $24.99. Bosses in 1st Region -Mezuki -Enenra -Yatsu-No-Kami
I first tried him. But he could kill me in one hit at any Time so I pissed myself after remembering he can do the Dark Realm Stuff too. I love him. Design is good and the Fight was really fair.

Why do early-game bosses have better soundtrack? Mezuki, enenra, they sound much better to me. This one probably because of its menacing but somewhat slow vibe, along with the deep growling/throat singing in the background.
I know this boss is a joke but in my first playthrough the feeling of turning into a yokai and beating his horse face in as an equal contrasted with the otherwise strategic and careful fighting style I had to use until then, it felt like the most satisfying shit ever
At first when I saw mezuki, it reminded of the tikbalang (A horse monster from my country.) And then I noticed that it had a cleaver and then I was like 'Ay Nako, Hindi yan tikbalang. Matatakot mga tikbalang sa gagong to.' And I was right, Jesus.

Mezuki felt too easy imo, his sheer size combined with the confined arena worked against him. Throw a sloth talisman into the mix and there's little he can do.
Once I figured him out, it wasn’t hard but I also suspect that he is an early boss. I am really sure that we will see the more menacing bosses after next Friday
Orochi Sama I’m pretty sure he meant to be easy because we are going to fight him with Gozuki at the same time. Basically, they gonna double team us O&S style.
Even without a Sloth Talisman, Mezu is incredibly slow unless he's in the Dark Realm. He's also incredibly susceptible to Burst Counters just like Ryomen SUkuna. I think that's what those two bosses were meant to do, honestly: Show you how important Burst Counters are gonna be.
