Very cool. My kid is only 9 so I won't use this in depth, but I did recently tell him if he's up in the count to try to throw a fast ball; in other words, experiment with the pitch you can throw at home but are afraid to at a game (because he's afraid of hitting batter).
something about coaching little league, they just don't listen and absorb this type of stuff at practice, but they will go home and watch a RUclips video and learn it all!
hi Dan, ok here is what im sure is a stupid ignorant question. would these pitching strategies (and some of the other stratagies from your other videos such as when to use the hit and run) translate well to a video game such as The Show?
If you’re playing online then I’d say the psychology applies. If you’re playing against CPU, you have to learn that game’s CPU. You also adjust for how hard it is to aim in the game.
Honestly I learned that setting up down the middle (or aiming for the middle) is never a good strategy. When you get to a certain level you are DONE if you groove one across the middle. I understand that aiming for the middle of the plate gives you more margin for error...but if you goal is to hit your spots, and you hit the middle - any hitter can crush one thrown to the middle. So I prefer to teach and setup using halves of the plate.
If your players can execute, by all means you should encourage subdividing the plate into halves or thirds. But most kids 12U and below are fortunate if they can get it over the dish. Keep the game moving. Fill up the zone with strikes. Encourage the hitter to swing. Let your defense make plays and get outs.

Thanks for every video they are really good
I pitched all of my life. A lot of this stuff I picked up naturally over time but never had someone teach it so formally. This is really good stuff.
I don't play baseball nor I have kids who play but this is very interesting to understand better when I watch the sport on TV
also check out this baseball rules video i made: ruclips.net/video/tEckJtLgPIs/видео.html
my knees hurt watching this awesome breakdown
This is not talked about enough! Baseball is truly a mental game and people are so much better who understand this well

Thats what you pay attention to when watchin a game. Thanks man
Thanks Dan this was great

Please do!

its also hard to find time during practices to talk about this stuff - only so many hours in the day.
I’m making a show on baseball this is helpful as I’ve never understood pitching as well as other positions
What type of show is it?
Love your videos man. Thanks for the great info.
Props to you sitting like that for the video, my legs would be burning
I had the burns

Yes! if you cant teach your players to call a game, you shouldn't be calling one yourself!
100%
Hey Dan,
If you’re a really good 7th Grade baseball player, should you start reaching out to college coaches, even if it’s D 3?
good god no
@@DanBlewett What about 9th?
mostly a waste of time until 10th grade or 11th

kids need the middle. period. WAY too many amateur pitchers walk 4+ batters per 7 innings, which is horrible. They need the middle.
