Based on this trailer, he's done WAY better than I even hoped for. Nailed the mannerisms and vocal inflections, that detached feel from his own talent as he plays like it's flowing through him. All classic hallmarks of Bob in the 60s. Superb!
Not only does he sound like Bob Dylan, he also sounds like my dad who also sounded like Bob Dylan. I wish my dad were still alive cause we would go see this together. My dad was a huge Bob Dylan fan and I knew from the moment Woody Guthrie was mentioned that this had something to do with Bob Dylan.
I have been a die hard Dylan Fan since I was 11 years old. I've been faithfully at Dylan's side for 60 years. I would have to say Timothee Chalamet has nailed it. Good for you ! Great for Bob Dylan. Can't wait to see it!
Before today I had no idea there was going to be a Dylan biopic but I remember thinking maybe a year ago that if they ever did one Timothée Chalamet would be perfect for the role. He does not disappoint, and I have great faith in James Mangold the writer/director to bring this story to the screen.
The voice is great but the mannerisms.. I don't know.. Dylan was calm and discreet but you could see a violence and cynism in his eyes. Chalament looks too soft, too gentle. Not convinced.
As a die hard Dylan fan since 1967, I was delighted that Timothy Chalamet was chosen to portray Dylan from this time. He has the physicality and acting chops to make it believable. The only question was could he sing Dylan without sounding like a parody. This early return is promising but, a lot of great music lies ahead and Dylan has always evolved his singing style. I hope Timothy can keep up. So far, so good.
gives me the chills. My first Bob Dylan album was Freewheelin' and have been worshiping since '74. So happy for newbies to learn.about Dylan... and appreciate the early 60's music scene.
Dylan. Was a. Poet. Musician. Voice of a. Generation. Listening to him. At. Manchester. Free trade hall back in 1966. What a. Fucking. Genius listening. To Bob. Literally gives me. Goose bumps.
My ex-husband has always been a huge fan of Bob Dylan and we saw him in 1984 at Newcastle (UK). I was talking to him today and told him about this coming out. He was so excited and the first thing he said was that he's definitely going to the cinema to see it. I know for a fact that the last time he went to see anything at the cinema was when we took our daughter to see The Parent Trap in 1998 😂.
Watch No Direction Home documentary, directed by Martin Scorsese and then watch I'm Not There, starring Heath Ledger et al... and listen to his first 5 albums on repeat...and then...then... you'll be ready for this film. Im so excited. Great casting 100%. Also great reaction vid, love the innocent excitement. Peace
Timmy even got those neurotic fluttering eyelids right. Edward Norton’s vocal impression of Pete Seeger is equally good. This is going to open a lot of people’s minds to the massive explosion of music that happened in only one decade.
So… here’s a real and ridiculous Bob Dylan story for y’all. My dad was a super fan. Like as soon as Dylan started releasing albums, my dad and his best friend (they’re both named, go figure, BOB)… so before Dylan became FAMOUS famous? They went on a pilgrimage from the University of Chicago, to Hibbing, Minnesota. They knew that Dylan’s parents owned the hardware store in “downtown” (it’s a small town) Hibbing. Zimmermans (Dylan’s real last name). They asked to talk to his dad. The guy managing the store? Said he wasn’t in today, but wrote down his home address…. Yeah, my dad went to Bob Dylan’s parents house! His parents were super kind, and really surprised/sweet about it. Nobody had done this yet…. So my dad and his best friend (BOB AND BOB) ended up having tea with Dylan’s parents. They showed them his bar mitzvah pictures! After the visit, they left… and on the way out of town? My dad pulled over and stole a Minnesota HIGHWAY 61 sign. It’s currently hanging on the front of my parents house. He has some other incredible stories from back then, but I think this one is probably the wildest…. My dad was also at the Newport Folk Festival when Dylan went electric and everyone lost their minds over it
His voice IS his voice and who ever is gonna copy that? Non of us. Yet Im happy this comes in Bob Dylan’s🌹🌺 lifetime and Im sure gonna see it. In Theaters in December.
Bob Dylan has such distinct inflections and that accent he put on, it isnt hard to copy but Timmy is a great actor and he melts into his roles. This is good. He's slowed it down a tad I dont know why? Bob Dylan is a genius icon
release date 12/25/2024. As a person who was introduced to BD with Freewheelin' Bob Dylan. I was 16. It altered my world view. So, yes, I am looking forward to this film.
Great trailer, I think Timothy is gonna give a great performance..but what really blew my old Gen X folkie mind was Ed Norton's portrayal of Pete Seeger, so spot on it was almost scary !
It will be the best performance by actor Timothée Chalamet playing Bob Dylan, but I think the film will feature Johnny Cash because Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash recorded several songs together, they were a career partner
Great reaction! Dylan was an executive producer on this film, who by the way at 83 years old is touring for his latest LP "Rough and Rowdy Ways". Timothee went to see Dylan live last fall when he was playing in Brooklyn NY. As a long time Dylan fan (at 70) Timothee is nailing it. After you see this movie check out 2 Dylan films, Don't Look Back and No Direction Home. These movies will give you a lot of insight into Dylan as he stars in them.
Do you understand who Woody Guthrie was? Hopefully this movie will invite a new generation to explore Woody Guthrie, Pete Seger and of course Bob Dylan. Dylan's new records are still great. Start the journey of 60 years of Dylan. Only Miles Davis and Duke Ellington come close.
It looks like it might be good, but he sounds like Dylan because his voice has been blended via A.I. -- just like this same director did w/ Austin Butler for the Elvis movie. What I would rather be hearing is that the acting is phenomenal from those who have seen it.
I'm not hearing any soul at all coming out of that voice. Dylan gets a lot of stick about the quality of his voice, but there's never any doubt that it's dripping with heart and soul, and meaning in every note. I'll definitely go see the film, but I'm worried about Chalamet, though.
Imagine Timothee as the lead in the movie Yesterday, instead of that insane woke casting they actually did. What a missed opportunity of a great premise.
Not so sure. From this clip he seems to be playing Dylan a bit moody and serious. Those who knew him at the time described his as more impish, humorous, Chaplinesqe, girls wanted to mother him. One thing you certainly didn’t leave him alone with your record collection 😮
As a huge Dylan fan I’d say it’s a very weak sounding 60s Dylan and the guitar playing lacks the driving force of Dylan in the 60s and 70s. Dylan is much weaker force today as he’s quite old
That is not timothy granted he sang his songs but this is called studio magic Timothy could never imitate a legend of this Caliber without the help of studio magic.... Get over it, if he was this good he wouldn't be playing a character actor in movies
Oh bullshit. There are so much of Dylan on film, why waste your time on a dopey counterfeit? An imitation is a joke. Forget the actor and seek out the real deal.
@williamkid55 I'm great simply because you like him that doesn't mean I have too I could never get into his music it's because of his vocals his singing voice is really horrible 😆 😂 🤣
Based on this trailer, he's done WAY better than I even hoped for. Nailed the mannerisms and vocal inflections, that detached feel from his own talent as he plays like it's flowing through him. All classic hallmarks of Bob in the 60s. Superb!
When he sings the line, "I’ve stepped in the middle of seven sad forests"...his inflection on "forests" is spot on. 👌
Not really.
@@markcopeland3011 he got the lisp too
Lifelong Dylan fan here and this looks great. I might actually take a trip to the movie theater for this.
Another biopic that will earn Timothee' an Oscar nomination.
I like that he wasn’t imitating Dylan he was playing Dylan !
TC is always amazing can’t wait !
Loved the trailer, and yes, Chalamet has done his homework. As a longtime Dylan fan, this makes my heart happy. Can't wait to see it!
He doesn't sound anything like Dylan. There are RUclips covers that are more on point.
I’m a massive Dylan fan don’t know much bout Timothy but he sounds as good as I could have hoped for
I have been a die hard Dylan Fan since I was 11 years old. I've been faithfully at Dylan's side for 60 years.

Timothée is gonna kill it. His mannerisms and his stare are on point
The voice is great but the mannerisms.. I don't know.. Dylan was calm and discreet but you could see a violence and cynism in his eyes. Chalament looks too soft, too gentle. Not convinced.
The guy has nailed it - Vocally and mannerisms
This will be his best movie, didn't even realize it was him until the credits
As a die hard Dylan fan since 1967, I was delighted that Timothy Chalamet was chosen to portray Dylan from this time. He has the physicality and acting chops to make it believable. Dylans lyrics will leave you mesmorized...greatest song writer of all time..
For real!

I will be seeing Bob Dylan in concert on November 1, 2024. Got my ticket!!! YESSSSS!!!
Yes Dylan at 83 years old is still on the road! Enjoy
In the clip, Chalamet sounds like he's imitating the Dylan "Hard Rain" Carnegie Hall performance from 1963.
AI GENERATOR 🙄
@@johno1765 yes, he studied Dylan to the maximum for 4 years, going to be so many gems for Dylan fans to find

Timmy is incredible. First Dune 2 and now this movie. What a year!
If the actress playing Joan Baez has a singing part that’s going to be much harder for her to emulate.
Looks Excellent 🔥
Can't wait--Timothee will be wonderful in A Complete Unknown--because he's an authentic, amazing talent--!
IS incredible this actor. IS obvius, nominee to Óscar.

Edward Norton’s Pete Seeger voice is amazing it brought me to tears

Nobody sounds like Dylan but he comes close. This is part 1 . Who’s going to play part 2 and 3? I have always felt his songs had a spiritual tint.
For part 2 my vote is for Adam Sandler. Seriously. He can sing and he has the look to boot.
I agree. You have an 80 year old for part 3 . Jagger? He does a good version of Rolling Stone and he can act. He says he wishes he wrote that song.
it's pretty close - Timmothee is singing it while Dylan kinda snarls it - close though

That's already a bob dylan movie called " im not there im gone" , i doubt this one will be better but ill watch anyway, i love dylan after all...
Dylan was played by... a woman, Kate Blanchett, in that one.
God this is going to be just an awesome movie
WOW!!!!
Wow!!!
Gotta admit. That's pretty spot-on
Sure hope this movie does Bob Dylan some justice #Dylan

There's a new trailer
Chalamet seems to nail the pronunciation and rhythmic paterns...just not quite nasal enough...
Casted is not a word
As for "when?"; a reliable source said December 2024.
Well, Seeger’s sweater works, looks like Zach Graff as Dylan. Hold the popcorn.
It looks like it might be good, but he sounds like Dylan because his voice has been blended via A.I. -- just like this same director did w/ Austin Butler for the Elvis movie. What I would rather be hearing is that the acting is phenomenal from those who have seen it.
You'd really WOW if you actually heard Dylan sing it. LOL.
christmas day, 2024
And he sounds just like Bob Dylan ... but he looks like a little girl.
Lol
Little boy, imo.
Je déteste Chalamet mais je pense que le film sera bon, j'ai hâte de le voir
Girl, you lost me when you said “I don’t know too much about Bob Dylan…..C’Mon now!
Only 3 inches a little too tall. Bob is 5'7" max.
I'm not hearing any soul at all coming out of that voice. Dylan gets a lot of stick about the quality of his voice, but there's never any doubt that it's dripping with heart and soul, and meaning in every note. I'll definitely go see the film, but I'm worried about Chalamet, though.

Sounds like but not “just” like .
Nobody sings Dylan like Dylan .
So easy to recognize that is not Dylan. We can even think about

meh, Chalamet is once again doing what he does best, playing himself ...
No he doesn't..At all
It's not him singing it's a recording of Dillon . OMG so ignorent
It's clearly Chalamet. Listen to both of them and Chalamet's voice elsewhere
its him singing, not a dylan recording. It's very clear that that is the case. You have no idea what you're talking about.
DYLAN
Strong words coming from someone who misspelled Dylan as Dillon. Also misspelled ignorant.
