On Friday in California at Total Wine, I hit the allocated mother load. I was able to purchase a Stagg, EH Taylor Single Barrel, EH Taylor Rye, Blanton’s Straight from the Barrel, Weller Full Proof, Weller 12 year, Willett 8 year Purple Top, and Knobb Creek 18 year. The craziest thing about it was that none of it was lottery. They did keep Weller CYPB and EH Taylor Full Proof for lottery.
The Penelope 9 year is fantastic and I really enjoy the barrel strength toasted. I do like most Penelopes. But the 9 yr is something I pick up all the time. Bring it to shares and to friend’s homes all the time and bottle usually gets emptied. I wish Bardstown was sold in New England. Love Barrel and my new favorite for the moment is the Grey Label Seagrass. I know I mentioned that Dark Pumpernickel before. It is very good. The Ported Pumpernickel is fantastic. Happened to find a store pick of their BiB and said what the hell why not. They’ve come a long way. Cherry, cinnamon, with a subtle earthy undertone. Will definitely look to try the rest of the lineup, hopefully at the distillery (Evanston is just north of Chicago).
FEW was bought in 2022 by Heaven Hill. Their standard range is ok, a bit too low proof for me, the single barrel store picks are better and come in at 101 proof, quite tasty.@@Bourbon_Hunter

I just discovered your channel recently and happened to be traveling in the Charleston area for work this week. Went by Coosaw Liquor and Wine on Wednesday and checked it out. While there, I got to try the Vesey's BIB store pick. Grabbed a bottle along with a BT which is hard to find in the Upstate. The owner was very nice and appreciative of my visit due to your video. Thanks for the recommendation!
@@Bourbon_Hunter Yes, I saw that one for Liquor Pointe in Duncan, SC as well. I went there last week and talked with Mike for a while. Monday they are having their Bourbon Christmas for opportunities to purchase allocated bottles after grabbing a store pick and another item. Cheers to you as well!
Middle West is also amazing. That rye is really good, the barrel strength store picks are amazing, and they have a bottle where they finished it in port casks. Also incredible
I just got a private barrel pick of the Woodford double oaked from the party source in Newport, Ky just sitting in the shelf same price as the others. Great deal.
Love the Chattanooga whiskey cask 111 proof. Thick and oily, seeet and malty. It’s unique because it’s 75% corn and 25% barley (3 different kinds undisclosed %)
Not liking Penelope but recommending Johnny Drum. Oof. That penelope 9 year is really great, and I've quite enjoyed the architect and toasted rye Ive had.
Went to the ragged branch distillery few months ago. They farm their own grains and then feed the mash to their cows and sell the steaks and beef. Thought the double oak BiB was pretty dang good especially for 5 yr old craft. I bought a distillery only honey finish bourbon at barrel proof that’s great

Should also add, got back into adding to my collection since watching your hunting videos. I found my all time bourbon unicorn yesterday at a random store in Kennesaw, GA. Hidden behind the counter out of sight was a bottle of 2023 OF Birthday Bourbon 😮. Proud owner of it now.
It was a borderline convenience shop. He just asked if I was looking for anything in particular and he may have some things I’d be interested in. Also snagged a Weller Special Reserve for $39, I know people hate on it but for that price, I’m not mad to get my first Weller bottle. The OFBB was definitely the most I’ve ever spent on a bottle but it was 1/3 of what I’ve seen it priced for and one I may never find again.
$469, have seen it for $800 all the way up to $1300+ secondary. Way more than I’d ever thought id pay for a bottle but it was in my hands for below $500 so I went for it. The allocated one y’all camped out for was $200 right?
Bro you are indeed Lucky to find such an awesome selection of Bourbons, out here in the wild West Nevada the selection is laughable compared to yours, however we are still blessed enough to get Buffalo Trace out here in small amounts and it might be the best value in bourbon anyhow in my view.

@Bourbon_Hunter we live only a couple hours from the distillery and make a trip up every year. I have 4 different offerings from them, and all have been solid bourbon. I just snagged one after filming! Its amazing for sure! 😁🥃
Which barrel is yours from. I got Barrel 66.
Great context fellows….. any advice for a someone thinking about filming their hunting adventures in New England?
Press record and let it rip! Gotta start some where
@@Bourbon_Hunter what’s your Camera set up? I feel like LQ will toss me out for recording? Feel like I need a undercover camera lol
Harsheel and his wife are very nice people.
I agree! 🥃
Dont be afraid to mix some c923 with that ec18. Or even mix some different single barrel ecbps with the 18. Thank me later 😅
You got me scared but I also am super interested!
Got the Dram act 11 this week. Good price on the KC18.
The Dram 11 is SOOO good I found one shortly after filming 😁🥃
Hope you backed up that C923 as well! Cheers
Very nice video, unfortunately I am in Maryland where price are like the Wild West. Cheers Hunter 🥃
Ive heard good things about bourbon hunting up north! I may take a trip one day cheers!
All you need to know about tequila- if you see Fortaleza, buy on sight. Then trade for an awesome bourbon.
Calumet 16 beats out Elijah Craig 18 for me. I like the barrel proofs more as well.Still a great bottle.
Ive never had one so theres gotta be a first for something!
@@Bourbon_Hunteryea❤
Bro is buy all they have of that ECBP C923. Can't find them in Chattanooga.
Since I have a bottle I left em for the next guy! Gotta share the love 🥃
They’ve got the larceny c923 in my local Hy-Vee for about $50-60
Cant wait for those to hit my area! Cheers! 🤙🏼🥃
Steal price on the Knob Creek 18 and Elijah Craig 18. Great Selection at that store.
I agree the EC18 I got is so good. Thankfully I got a good single barrel! Cheers! 🥃
Never going wrong with Trace
BT is a solid choice!
Buying the EC18 over JMCB…. Gonna regret that for sure
My other KC18 is almost empty so had to replace!
I have a dilemma. I found 1792 bottle in bond and sweet wheat for $45. Which should I get?
Oh man. Can you get both? 🥲 I would learn towards the Bottled in Bond because its guaranteed 100 proof and at least 4 years
@@Bourbon_Hunter I really can’t get both. But Ty truly for the recommendation. I will go back for it in a couple hours
@@Bourbon_Hunter would sweet wheat be a good representation of a wheated bourbon? Such as makers and weller?
I am not sure I believe so but ive never had the 1792 Wheat so thats why I didn’t recommend it just from not having any personal experience with it!
@@Bourbon_Hunter ok Ty for your time and opinion. I’m gonna try to get both. But might get sweet wheat if only one. I say that because there are plenty of bottle in bonds out there. Also I have only had a wheated bourbon once. Makers mark old fashioned and it was delicious. The sweet wheat will tell me if I prefer wheated to rye
when you were showing the tequila, the fifth to last bottle, don folano, is pretty much the best tequila on the market right now and impossible to find in most places.
Im loving these Tequila comments. I legit have a list where I am keeping these recommendations
The C923 goes for 200+ in MN I would have snagged that!
Thats insane! I would never pay 200+ for something like that!
great video
Thank you for watching!
Ragged Branch double oak is solid competition for the Woodford double oak.
I have a cask strength ragged branch double oak that is just straight wood. Very nasty. $85 mistake. Im hesitant to go back to the brand
@Bourbon_Hunter we live only a couple hours from the distillery and make a trip up every year. I have 4 different offerings from them, and all have been solid bourbon. They are a pretty new distillery, so consistency, im sure it is not quite there. My double oak is actually a little tamer than a Woodford double. Maybe I could send you a sample for you to compare with yours as everybody's palate is different.
I agree everybody is different! Join the discord and message me i’d love to swap samples!
I have that 7yr Tumbling Dice. Hot garbage; it's up there with my biggest purchasing regrets!🤮
Great video as always, Hunter!🥃✌️
Thank you haha! I think you may have gotten a bad single barrel! Ive only heard great things about that brand but who knows 🤷🏻♂️
@@Bourbon_HunterCould be. It has a super high rye mash bill, and I normally enjoy a good rye whiskey. So yeah, not sure why but the Tumbling Dice 7yr I got was bitter and piney tasting. Not a fan so far.
