Keyworth isn't by any means the fanciest stadium but it's ours. Supporters are on top of you. Not much of a sideline. It's a 80 plus year old barn but we wouldn't give it up for anything. From the grassroots we made our club the one we love. Football at it's finest.
I play for one of the other smaller teams in Detroit (Inter Detroit in the Midwest Premier League) and those DCFC fans are wild. The moment you were coming to Detroit I knew NGS would be giving you hell hahah. Life of a popular pro though I guess. Glad you enjoyed the visit!
I'm excited you're gonna be making content with Charleston! You went from Tulsa playing with Eric Bird from my hometown to Charleston Battery, the club I root for in the Championship. Can't wait to see you play against Pittsburgh with Robbie Dambrot and Shane Wiedt, two guys who came from the club I work for in the NPSL. Super cool to see the inner workings. Thank you and keep up the good work!
Thanks for taking a picture with me at the dcfc game it made my week. When I found out DCfC was promoted to usl, I immediately thought if they play Matt’s team I’m going! Also it’s insane that Charles Halt took over my Jersey number at his college, I didn’t even know he went there. I found out after seeing him In the jacket in this vlog
Matt can you talk about what happened at the us open cup? How does the team recover mentally from getting eliminated in the first round to a lower division team??
Anything can happen! Its football! In 1950 the world cup was hosted at brazil, they went to the final vs uruguay. When brazil knew they had to face Uruguay for the world cup final, they were claiming themselves champions. Everywhere. Even the president at that time in an interview he said they were already champions. Uruguay won that game and became world champions. Literally people were jumping off the stadium commiting suicide. Anything can happen at football
How can I become pro? I’m trying out for community college and I’m hoping I make it but if I do (hopefully) how can I up my level for letting other teams scout me?
We would have to know you to see what your strengths and weaknesses are. Every player has different things to work on. If I had to give any advice it would be to ask your coaches or any coach what your strengths are and where they think you might be able to play best. Once you find a position or two then you need to find pros that play this position and study them like a mad man. I mean you need to not just watch their games but watch their games 3-4 times and really understand how they play and WHY they play that way. Once you find out what makes them special you need to train these skills like a mad man. I mean you need to be obssesed to no end. You also have to understand the mental part of the game because so much of being a pro is mental. So much. But i'm telling you, that you have to be obssesed. And it might take you 5 years to reach that level after failing many times. It's a matter of resiliency. Do you have the resiliencey and the desire to really make it. I wouldn't mind talking to you more about this to see where you are at and what you need.
Heres an idea for two minute tuesday: Is it bad to train on concrete for knees and does it increase the overall chance of injury? Because there are barely any grass surfaces near by and I wanted to know if I could train 5 days a week on concrete without any knee problems or just any leg problems in general because I hear alot that it should be avoided at all costs, but at the same time it would take half an hour to go to the nearest grass field. Thanks
If you are a teenager, I think it's ok as I always used to do it and I know several young players who did that. Your body is in much better shape to revover from any injury during these ages. After that, it might get risky
I always have a metal problem. I play football very well in training and feel very safe, but as soon as we have a game against another team I screw up. Then I get nothing, not even a simple pass. Can you maybe make a video how to improve it. Thanks love your videos ❤️🙏
This is probably one of the toughest questions if not the toughest question I hear in the game of soccer. It is one of the greatest questions that I have not seen any coach be able to change. I will definitely study more about this. I love talking about the mental part of the game and I hope someday to solve this problem for many others who struggle with this. I'm glad you brought it up. I promise to do everything I can to solve this problem. It may take a year it may take 2 years but I will solve it. From what I do know, I have heard that it is great advantage when learning in general to study under different environments. Even when studying school material, it has been proven that when people study under different conditions they retain information better. I would imagine that in training, most times, the situation never changes. The players are the same, the coach is the same, the atmosphere is generally the same. But every game is different. If I had to give one piece of advice. It would be to try out for as many different teams as possible or play for as many different teams as possible. The game really never changes. It would appear to me that in training, your confidence is very high because you know you have things under control. But before games start, you are unsure of yourself and you do not believe you have things under control. It's tough to answer beause everyone is different but i am sure there is one thing or two things that can help many people make this change so that they are confident in games
Thanks for the footage, I do believe that your team had the better opportunities to score. Sorry to say Mat but your new team strikers are going for power instead of placement. Even the last opportunity that your team had, he had time to place it at one of the corners easily. Good game but team needs to work on their finishing.
Hey Matt, I am watching u against my home team SD Loyals. Could u try to spot me after the game. I will probably be the only one shouting ur name. Thanks!
Matt always plays his tail off, but it always seems like his strikers fail the rest of the team. Charleston could’ve won 3-1 easy with some better finishing. Good luck on your next game Matt!

Are you coming to Dallas.
?
I'm pretty sure there is no Dallas team in the USL Championship. I know there is one in USL 1 or USL 2 but not the top division.
2 minutes after the drop❤️🔥
Hopefully when you play Against Detroit again I’ll be in the team 💯
