  • The biblical name “Judas” has become synonymous with betrayal, but a recently uncovered text shows Judas Iscariot’s story may be more complicated than that.

What do you think of the story of Judas?

Better would have been for him to never have been born.

0:31 -.... several Roman priests." WRONG!!!! They were not Roman at all. They were Jewish. If you cannot get your facts right, why should we watch?

They were not Roman priests. They were Jewish priests. Of course none of it is true, but according to their mythology, it was the scribes and Pharisees who wanted him killed.

Interesting about the Pharisees - this may have been a later misdirection, because the ones who really resented Jesus were the Saducees (those who supported the older, centralized, priest-based Judaism).

The Band Lord Of The Lost did an entire double album about The Gospel of Judas a couple years ago. It's amazing work if you're into Glam/Goth metal. But it was well written and produced and deserves a listen. It's all in the perspective of Judas.

We often think Judas betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver just because the Gospel of Matthew says so in order to have some prophecy fulfilled, such as Zechariah 11:12-13 and Jeremiah 32. While that might be true, it's also possible that Judas was forced to do it out of fear for his own life.

According to AI, 30 tetradachms (the money from back then) worth about 12000$ in today's money... would you rat Jesus for a Civic 2014 with good mileage?

If no one had pointed out Jesus, Jesus would not have been crucified and we would not have been saved. Judas, whether in cahoots with Jesus or out of personal greed, performed a necessary function.

The only judas gospel is his father filling him with the idea that he was the fighter savior like the Judas from the Maccabees therefore Judas saw Jesus as the weak savior and so he talked to the priest looking for a legal assertion to this Jewish revolt against the Roman's.

This seems common sense as it’s the most likely answer to how Jesus knew on of the apostles would betray him.
Simple answer he told the to do it which is way more likely then he saw the future.

If it goes against what is told in Luke and Mathew, who were eye whitnesses it is not something to put your faith in. The book of Judas is another lie from the enemy.

None of the gospel writers were eye witnesses and none of them make that claim in their accounts of Jesus’s life. They are accounts that were shared orally until they were written down decades later.

It was all oral history till they decided to write it down decades later. We weren't there either. It's been tampered with anyway multiple times. It's all obfuscation

The original message of the Bible has never been deciphered. It has been translated in over 6000 different languages over 4000 years. Trust me the original original word was lost along time ago.

Some of the earliest extant gnostic texts predate some early Gospel texts, so you could might as well argue that some gnostic writers could have been closer to the events. But no matter how you cut it, none of the writers of any known texts were eyewitnesses.

Who killed Jesus? God did..for without appointing Judas to betray Jesus there is NO redemption for mankind! Jesus HAD to be sacrificed according to God's will! STOP blaming the Jews! Roman law...Romans crucifixion!

This is the only thing that makes sense logically. If Jesus is the Lamb that had to be sacrificed for our sin then someone haf to point him out. Maybe Judas almost immediate death was his reward an he had served his purpose.

Jesus was such a "great" teacher that one of his own disciples betrayed him then killed himself - a sin.
