- Billy broke out of his pen!! And worse than that... HE BROKE INTO HIS MAMA'S PEN!!
Back to some normalcy today in the barn as I finally do some chores and wait for the final four to lamb!
Got to witness a few more lamb races (always a highlight!), observe the first real activity since join up yesterday, but still waiting on one pen to show some interest!
Jess, Mark and I are back in the fields prepping for corn planting we are hoping to start Saturday!
AND.....Jess had the camera... and did a Q&A!!

I was just starting to type this same thing, but saw you had it covered. Sandi has like 100,000 eyes on her sheep. Would be cool if she could do a day-time livestream. But then when you get a ewe like 30-something, she'd have 10,000 emails/messages.
I saw it too. Hope she is okay.
Jessica is getting more involved in parents social media "stuff". Kinda curious how this will evolve in future.

Absolutely loved Jess’s tenacity and courage to take her moms camera and basically takeover the channel for a few minutes 😎😎 And to answer your question Jess, YES ABSOLUTELY! Why not make a channel of your own! I think it would be amazing, and you have 2 pretty great RUclipsrs under your roof to guide you along the way which is an indispensable asset.

College life, ( when you have the time to tell us about it) sounds like a great You Tube Channel!
I'm from Finland and our native sheep the Finnsheep is really early to mature (and crazy prolific..), rams can be mature and ready to breed at 4 months. So you never know, maybe Billy was feeling like a Finnsheep today!
And my experience is that sheep can jump really well, especially if they have enough room to have a sprint. We sometimes have sheep in an empty horse stall annex sick bay. Door is 1.20 high and they jump right out.

WOW, your daughter is AMAZING!!! I am a retired high school counselor/administrator and I believe I'm fairly good at recognizing a young woman/teen who is not only beautiful inside and out (like her mom), but who also has been raised to be a strong, confident, and caring person! And she does look exactly like her mom! Just gorgeous...
Jess is so sweet how she talks about her parents and also I feel like she has an old soul, for example when she said "I'm a teenager we do that". Any other teen would be oblivious of these things 😅 She sees life from an adult perspective. I guess that is the plus side of growing up with hard working parents teaching their children to take responsibilities ❤️

Jess's Q&A was really sweet. As a young woman myself it's nice to see the relationship that y'all have built with your children. Healthy communication and boundaries are worth everything.
According to my dad, picking rocks is like the plates at the local buffet. You take the top one and another one rises up to take its place. Even though you got them all last year, there are new ones to take their place this year...

Sandi, I’m a mother of two sons, and it was very humorous to me to see Jesse making sure to you and your husband are loved equally. It usually the kids say a parent loves the other more😂. I always say “yes” to which ever asks me that, along with an “of course”. She’s a very sweet, intelligent, confident, young women. I know you’re both very proud.

We are relatively new to sheep. When it came time for our lambs to be born this year, I found your page. One of our ram lambs, dairy!!!! :D, looks SOOOOO MUCH like your Billy. I call him Charlie Pride.

What a wonderful video. The Billy debacle is so relatable if you raise any breed of livestock. I've said this a bunch, I love your explanations of what's going on. I am so impressed with Jess and her video part. Yes, she should have her own channel. If more teens watched her take on the family, farm and animals there would be more young people with a much better head on their shoulders. Her honest approach to the questions was so refreshing, you could tell it came from the heart. I know that hearing what I'm going to say may be awkward but Jess in many ways is a mini Sandi. That's a good thing! Your and your husband have raised some awesome children, kudos to you.
As a side note, I lived in Michigan and farmed/raised deer/bison/exotics. Rocks.....argggh. you just always took a tractor or at least a bucket with you wherever you went so you could pick up rocks.

Loved the video with Jess. She reminds me of my youngest daughter. Our daughters are just two years apart so I guess that’s why. My daughter is two years older. Their birthdays are a week apart. I guess our daughters learn more from us than we think. I hope Jess and Jack realize just how lucky they are to have parents that are still married and have other family near by. Absolutely correct, recessive genes. Genetics is so interesting. I breed predigree cats and working out kitten colour combos when you know what mum and dad carry recessively is so fun

Sandi & Jess - Great video ladies. Jess you are a natural in front of the camera. I think I heard 4-H in one of your answers. I would tell you I was a 4-H kid growing up also, but no livestock. My experience was in hunting, fishing, and tree planting kinds of things. Gun safety was a big part of the hunting section. Anyhow, thanks for sharing, from a now retired Lutheran Pastor in Davenport, Iowa.
