Laugh, laugh, are you kidding, I admire you. I'm alone and up in age, but I still plant a garden. Next you need to learn how to preserve your harvest. I find peace and comfort in my garden. Looking forward to seeing you in your garden. Prayers

Laughing at you for planning a garden??
No Way! It shows you're movin' along with our times and have good common sense...please don't give up, but PERSIST!
Life will never be the same again...I'm thankful for the opportunity to become self sufficient! This is my third year of making the effort and each season I gain valuable knowledge!
    Hooray for your effort!

I have a "garden" for my Grandchildren it is about 10 feet square. We have potatoes, runner beans, peas, beetroot, spring onion, sweet peppers, garlic & rhubarb. We also have a herb garden. Luckily we planted it before lockdown & I show them photos every few days. Last year we had enough peas & potatoes to feed all 9 of us for 1 dinner....it was our first year.

@Sheepishly me- good for you on the garden attempt. I wish i had that much room! I only have 1/4 acre. We do tomatoes(3 types) , cukes, squash(3 types), beans(2 types), watermelons, lettuces(4 types), kale, spinach, broccoli, cabbage, carrots onions and potatoes. Also Sunflowers and herbs. And perennials. PS, on the virus end of things, dont be afraid. I think this has been wayy overblown.

I always grew a garden when I was younger. I was in a really, really dark place when I was in middle school and my dad was trying to find ways I could cope with it in a healthy way. We tried gardening and keeping chickens for eggs and pets and I found it to be really helpful for me. I moved out on my own two years ago and I’m starting my in ground garden this year. I had a container garden last year but it didn’t do well for me. I got some tomatoes and strawberries in the ground already and I can’t wait to put the rest of the veggies in!

Honestly, your vlogs are the only ones that I actively search for; I don't wait for the notification to pop up which is 3 or 4 minutes after the vlogs actually drops. I go to your channel and wait for the vlog to show up, which is pretty much immediately. I love you so much Sandi! I have shared your story about the difficulties during these times, with lower demand for lambs and lower prices, with my family and friends. OMG! I freaking LOVE gardening! If you can, go with something similar to a no-dig garden - lots of compost, minimal tilling, wood chip paths that soak up excess water, and easy to pull weeds! And a hack that I'm still trying to learn is that short things that need shade can be grown under tall things that don't - quite the space saver!

I realize this is a year ago, but have you considered a raised bed of sorts? They can be made of wood, or I have also seen folks plant in half of a 44 gallon metal drum. If you put legs on them, you can easily tend to your plants from a wheel chair. No ground required except where to place your container, and a porch or patio will do just fine.

Brave girl putting in such a big garden! Yes, use straw to mulch between rows instead of constantly tilling to keep down weeds. You know it is better for the soil health, plus the straw will keep the soil cooler in the heat of summer and hold more moisture in the soil.
I personally prefer shorter rows with more varieties in case one of them fails for some reason.

40+ yrs gardening, 25 years drip irrigation, now switching to flat tape buried with black plastic mulch. Why? No weeds, automated watering. Black plastic extends growing season and allows tomatoes and other summer veg to survive our cool nights and fruit. Flat irrigation tape is cheaper and lasts years longer than any drip system or soaker hose. Good Luck in the garden! Love your videos!

Fantastic!!! If you can handle all the things you handle every day, you can handle a garden like a boss! If I can do it you can school us all!

Always encourage people to garden! I love growing my own food. I fail alot to grow some things (watermelons). But am happy for the things i can grow. It helps with my mental health.

GARDEN 🥰 GREAT. Can not wait. The hard part is Harvest and canning. Be sure to stock up on canning supplies. They might run low, as more people WISE ENOUGH to survive this, will be canning.

Those babies are getting so big they’re so adorably cute... Blessings to you and your family, Sandi... Sending y’all love from Pennsylvania USA 🇺🇸🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

You’ll do fine on gardening. I stopped gardening a couple years ago, and decided that it’s time to stop being lazy and get back into it! So good luck on yours. I started a stupid amount of seedlings. I know one thing we won’t starve.!

The garden will be fabulous! Excited to see it ! I'm not laughing, I think it's awesome! :) Sometime...maybe when you do another Q & A, could you explain what the "Steel/Steele" rams are? I've tried to Google. Also, since you have shipped 8-ish ewes, will you replace them in the breeding ewe group? I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your videos, Sandi!

Yes on putting straw between rows. Bayou gardener on RUclips would be a great gardening and food storage for a learning resource. I love your channel.

Sandi , regarding the garden , a slight suggestion , how about doing a challenge between Jack / Jess in the garden , maybe a reward at the end , the knowledge they will learn , pictures , u tube video , we can ask questions , watch , maybe a few laughs !! Very proud 👏 of this Family Rock & Roll , Jack / Jess , or should I say " prepare , plant, & harvest , stay safe , enjoy each day ! Bob
