3D Printed Explosive Rocket Testing | Feat D&S Creations

- 3D printing ordnance is nothing new here at Ordnance Lab. We made 3D printed claymores a while back which were a big success. D&S Creations helped us achieve a new level of 3D printed when they reached out to us with their rocket project. They had some prototypes that were really impressive, and needed us to help them get to them to go boom. That's sort of our thing so how could we refuse?
Steve returned to the ranch to test out both shape charges, featured in our last video, and 3D printed rocket improvements. These are all prototypes he made over the course of several months and the idea to test them for functionality. Also to see if a 3D printed explosive shaped charge concept is feasible with this design. These are very much in the early stages of development so we were not expecting magic to happen. How well did they work out? Well, you will needed to watch the video to find out!

This video took forever to make and edit. The weather was just awful for almost the entire week. The rain turned the range into a giant mud pit. Walking anywhere would cake your shoes into giant mud clogs. The cold did not help either.
Fortunately, Steve and Jake maintained solid motivation to get the rockets made and videos filmed. Steve is hard at work with the mk 3 variant of the rockets now that fresh data on what works and what does not is collected from our testing.
add spin/rotation too the rockets.
Have you though to add a small section of metal tubing into the wire guide on the rockets to keep them on the wire instead of sawing through and flying off in random directions?
The 3d printed liner was my idea. remember?
It's easier to use a recoilless system as a shoulder fired munition. Easier to have calculated ballistics and interchangeable war heads. Rockets favor best when you up the scale past 120mm or larger. So... Rocket favor mounted platforms, Hydra, hailstorm, and tornado rockets... They also do best of soft ignition moving platforms like aircraft, think of the old HVAR rockets

I know the feeling. I am an 07/02 SOT and anytime I talk or show my machine guns I made I get people telling me they are gonna report me to the feds. Go for it lmao. I pay them every year to have a piece of paper. Great video!
At this point, we dare them to actually follow through. Many claim they will but few actually do it.
@@OrdnanceLab Exactly. I dare them too and low and behold never a report made. I just laugh them off knowing I'm 100% in the legal.
They wouldn't tell you if they were serious about reporting you. It's funny to think people are scared of things like this.
It's really a shame that free men have to ask for permission slips and pay a fee.
I hear it a lot too.
Good to see that the technology is advancing.
And getting put to good and fun use. Lol
RPG is already perfected

Better late than never! This video took a while as I had a ton of videos to work through. We launched 21 rockets and ran almost 5 cameras, so it ate up a ton of space on my jump drive. Steve and I compiled a great deal of data from these tests to work on an improved rocket design. Soon, the final project will be complete and we can move onto world domination. NBD
Almost 5 cameras? 🤔 I really want to know why the almost was added in there 😂
@Tsunauticus IV had one develop technological issues.
Just glad to watch a video by you guys. Kept up the great work. I appreciate all the great content.
suspend the motor on the front..make like a split yoke design to hold it in the middle on the nose and a wedge under the nozzle with grooves running to the back of the rocket to make the thrust gas bypass the actuall body ...add stabilising X-shape winglets on the back of the rocket atleast as far as the main body lenght...also the grooves that allow the thrust gas to travel from the front of the rocket to the back can be slightly twisted so it adds some spin stabilization...if you make few of rockets where the trailing winglets also have a twist to them..each instance more and more you should be able to dial the twist rate and make it compliment the thrust grooves twist rate, using some high speed footage in like 5 rockets..while i havent seen this design being used anywhere and considering that diverting the gasses around the rocket to the back of it will result in some thrust loss and the pressure it will create in the front of the launcher will also impact exit speed this should work..would work even better if 4 small thrusters are used in an angled diverging thrust nose cone assembly - thats if you can reliably activate them in the same time. if you want more ideas id love to share and help develop them..if you really get down to work you can even print them in vase mode xD
Did someone really call the mounties on you? What's next? The BSAP?
This was GREAT!🤣🤣🤣 especially the rocket that ejected out the back of the launch tube ,then ignited and streaked down range 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It identified as a vertical launch system rocket.
I know it's illegal to try this myself so I appreciate seeing you do this.
Gotta love an ordinance video that hat starts with “uh oh”.
Clearly, the next improvement in tank technology should be hovertanks so the rockets just scoot right under them! :D Appreciate the video kind sirs, will be calling off Europol this time.
The world needs hovertanks.
Um....
You guys should talk to that dude building the M202 Flash, his rockets fly like arrows.
They actually already did
Not all of them he's had the same issues we've had. We talk alot and bounce ideas back and fourth
@@DandSCreations Fair enough. That one dude though, with the Panzerfaust, Fliegerfaust, and now an M202 builds some kickass rockets. He's also working on a man portable hypervelocity rocket launcher lol, excited for that one
That looks like so much fun!
Man you can see the frustration in Steve’s face don’t be too down man shits bad ass and obviously will work as intended just need a few things tweaked to get them perfect can’t wait to see the next video with 3d printed ordance and d&s creations
The "undesireable flight path" from the second to last shot on the durable target was actually quite clean - Very little spiraling, looked as if all the fins had deployed properly on the way out, and it had a smooth loft, just so much it went over the intended target. Has D&S tried running these through a software like OpenFOAM to test aerodynamic stability? It could lend some handy clues and reduce the number of physical iterations required to get repeatable results.
Ooh, the amount of fun you can have with the right paperwork. 😋
That’s all fantastic. Thank you
Yall are doing the lords work, I LOVE THESE VIDEOSSS, keep it up!
Love these types of 3d printed explosives vids! Keep it up guys!
Love y’all’s videos.
That was great! I really enjoy seeing the work required to prove or disprove a proposed design. Never apologize, always persevere!
Nice to have you all back i know you will get success in the end👍
You guys are freaking awesome
Very impressive watching a few of those Fly Away
The bloopers are way more fun to watch than success
This is just as good of an episode as the "Boom Boom" videos given your narrative and provided information. Great job guys!
I love you guys - also, turns out rocket science is hard, who would have thought?
Harder than trying to learn brain surgery via RUclips videos.
@@OrdnanceLab I learned hoiw diy surgrery brain sgurgrey from youtube videos nnd im doin just brain
Thanks for sharing! Very interesting. Keep it coming!
Been patiently waiting for this... Exciting
Super cool to see this, even with the failures you're having its still showing so much promise! cant wait for next iteration of tests
Thank you for the video! Especially cool target
Very cool guys!
Greet content man. I appreciate the advancements and positive mindset through the video
Hell yeah, yet another watchlist spot scored
You guys are really cool, I love the channel and work you're doing. I'm really excited to see how this project will go in the future.
I love the fact you guys are actually making this develpment and investigation on your own, you'll advance really quick youll see
This video is the funniest thing I’ve seen all day
Love the 3d printing related videos and love D&S creations they make some cool stuff
rockets, explosives and cute doggos. Instant like! :D
That was great!
That was beautiful.
That is rad lads.
Fantastic stuff. Always fun to see development failures in a positive light.
Love your show! Thank You brother for your efforts to share and inform! Be careful Brothers!
I'm so glad you guys are able to fulfill the explosive dreams I cant and wont try (I like all ten of my fingers) lol.
Practice practice practice. Love your videos.
Keep going on this guys! Its so close!!
This is the best blooper real i have ever seen
The Z on the tank is a nice touch lol. And no worries about being judged on success, if rocket surgery was easy everyone would do it right?
It is necessary that there be a badge of the Nazi US army, which provoked this war, like many others in the 20th and 21st centuries
@@alcokoalco9278 We could argue about those kinds of lies pushed upon the Russian people by the Putin government until the cows come home. But neither of us will come to any kind of agreement, and arguing about it will do nothing to change the unfortunate international situation we find ourselves in. So why bother?
@@theKashConnoisseur What about the lies of the American government? For example, about the non-expansion of NATO to the east to the borders of the Russian Federation. Fu..ing American double standards
@@alcokoalco9278 Why did you delete your previous comment? Edit: Never mind, RUclips is being weird.
Arguing about each other's governments lies and crimes is pointless. It does nothing to stop either government from doing the things they do. So why bother? Everyone knows that all governments suck, in general. Treaties are made to be broken.
@@theKashConnoisseur I haven't deleted any of my comments! This is American-style freedom of speech, which is so propagandized on RUclips
Excellent video again
Trying to comply with yt schematics ❤😅
I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Thanks guys!
AWESOME!!!
I know failure can hurt. But that was awesome to watch and I appreciate the sacrifice.
Failure is just one step in the direction to success. Keep it up guys
Awesome video! Even with the failures.
Nice testing
Love the videos you do.
Glad you enjoy them!
love it keep at it Im sure youll figure it out.
I LOVE this series. Hope to see every step from prototypes to a fully functional and legitimate weapon. The development process and testing is fascinating.
Thanks, good luck- you’ll get it
Experimentation is all part of the fun now you have a better idea of what doesn't work ,So back to the drawing board ,great video love this stuff
Oh damn, I didn't realize I would be getting added to a watchlist. Cool, cool.
6:30 “Whoops!” 😅 this is the best channel, ever!
super vidéo thank
Fun project.
Awesome video, keep it up.
Excellent vid
I laughed so hard when the rocket came out of the back of the launcher...then took off !!
Childhood dreams come true!
very cool
Hahahahaha this was one of my favorites guys!! ... keep up the good work 😂
Ordnance lab is a welcome contributor to the large ice brick based housing industry
personal advice would be to simplify the rockets. While cool the folding fin designs require alot more precision in opening then traditional fixed fin designs.
Perhaps try a mortar style rocket that way it seats well in the barrel, if youre worried about not producing enough drag for stabilization then use thicker fins or bend the edges. Also try using a aluminum lining for the inside of your launch tube. This will add rigidity, protect from open flame, and absorb heat.
Best channel on RUclips
Lol you guys are your worst enemy. Setting up for failure every rocket video lol. Love ya
great video 😍
You guys are so awesome. Thank you for having the grit to show the, I hesitate to call them failures, lets say the process. This stuff is not easy, its rocket science! I look forward to every video. I expect that these misses are not caused by unevenly mixed or packed propellant, so my next guess would be nozzle design or material properties.
Yay a new video! :D
Trial and error is integral in R&D, I think there was some good data from all of this (apart from being humorous), good stuff y'all!!!
Pleeeeaaaaseeee make more rocket launcher videos!!! I don’t have extra money at the moment to send to support the channel. But this is by far the best channel on RUclips. I enjoy every second of the launcher episodes you guys make. I really would love to see you guys perfect it. I remember the first rocket episode when you guys shot the panel off the door 🤣😭
Damn, those things take off in an instant when the rocket ignites!
The motors have some legit crazy thrust and fast ignition.
Its so cool to see the design process of all of this and its awesome that yall are showing everything, both the good and bad. Great work! Can't wait to see where this project goes in the future :)
Wile E Coyote vs. enemy tank. 😅 Every failure in testing can save thousands of failures in the field. Great video - blowing up tanks ain't easy!
I'm a long-time subscriber to your channel. I never laughed so hard in my life. You guys need to make a video of all your failed outtakes! Hilarious 🤣
Glad you enjoyed it!
That's a very based target!
Man you guys are legends! Looks like a lot of fun!! Would be cool to make a drone and a shoulder launched version, probably need a smaller initial charge like the javelin. Keep it up from NZ!
Failure is (or should be) a learning experience. Though often frustrating. Having said that, I enjoyed the misadventurous rockets choosing their own way in life.
That dog is clearly the highlight of the video and is enjoying the best scratches known to dogkind.
Hilariously entertaining, reminds me of Wiley Coyote and Roadrunner Cartoons. Keep up the good work and good luck with the next version.🤠💣💥🚀💥
I don’t know how this Chanel doesn’t have a million followers yet. 3D printed rockets 😵😵
Please do a video with Wild Arms research! I'd love to see a video on a full power version of his panzer Faust and anti air systems
I'd personally love to see ordnance lab test a bunch of the 3d defcad files. they have a bunch of "improvised" explosives/launchers/mortars/ drone bomblets. seems like it would be along your ally
I'd love to see them test the 2in mortar that's on there, it's designed to use blank shot shells for propellant
Not from DefCAD, though. Making people pay to access free files and excluding anyone outside the US is pretty uncool in my book.
3d printed anti tank rockets are such a cool concept. Instead of shipping several truckloads of anti tank weapons that can get stolen and used by anyone, just ship a few 3d printers and a bunch of c4. sure, someone can use the c4, but not everyone will be able to put together a functioning anti tank weapon out of a small amount of it and a bunch of 3d printer filament. Keep it up guys.
I'm busy playing Farcry 2 again. This is very reminiscent of what happens in game when you let the RPG-7 get all rusty and unreliable. I enjoyed this video a lot, keep 'em coming.
If all it ever becomes is how not to build a rocket, I'm totally fine with it. For some reason rocket fails make me chuckle because I'm an idiot and don't understand the frustration to understand how they function...but I know they aren't supposed to do that! Lol great video everyone. See ya next time!
This was actually some serious comedy for me! Some of those rockets literally did what they want and some decided they had their own minds.😂😂😂😂
09:25 is my favorite. It made me think of The Right Stuff, where they showed the endless series of launch failures, some more comical than others. And then you immediately followed this up with pretty much the same reference. Keep up the good work, someday you'll get these things to behave.
Lovely doggo
yall should use a drone to drop an explosive, and see how effective is it... would be fun to see that
Gotta love RND!
Great video!
Reminds me of the Werner Von Braun quote: "I was aiming for the stars, but sometimes I hit London"
Of all the complaints people might make, I wonder how many will be mad you used a Z tank as a target.
So how do you fix the wire chewing through the plastic hanger, use a metal pipe segment as a liner?
