In advanced warfare it was an actual laser since it was a futuristic game it didn’t matter but in vanguard laser would kill the game even more then they already have. The ex1 shoots bullets it’s just so fast that it’s coded to look like a laser

What a downgrade 1. When the gun overheats, in AW you could see the battery cell steaming hot when opened, while in Vanguard, only the barrel and the muzzle steams, which defeats the purpose of opening the battery in the first place. 2. Uses standard iron sights instead of the holographic sights seen in AW. 3. Just the general feel of the gun, in AW it feels very heavy to use, as evident by how the soldier holds, sprints and operates his gun, while in Vanguard it feels like any other assault rifle which shouldn't be the case since your operator doesn't wear an exo suit to compensate for the weight of the weapon.
Maybe it's the prototype so they wouldn't make holographic sights for it yet and they also set it to vent immediately when the barrel gets too hot instead of the battery because they figured out the battery technology but not the barrel? They did get lazy with the Lazer effects though
and one thing, in vanguard it doesn't feel like a laser looks more like the laser weapons of star wars, in AW you can feel it like a laser, as if you could cut steel plates in vanguard it has submachine gun and sniper cannon module, but where is the cannon to make it a laser shotgun

its funny because the gun basically feels like the devs just took a normal machine gun and modded the firing particles to make it look like a laser. Because it doesnt feel anything like the original lol, let alone an ACTUAL laser gun.

It killed in 17-25 "shots" and was basically shooting 3600 rounds per minute. It's honestly about as close as I think you can come to creating a laser in a videogame, but technically it's just an assault rifle with the fastest RPM in any COD I can think of. What really sells it as a laser in AW compared to Vanguard, is the sound design. It actually sounds like a continuous laser beam in AW and in Vanguard it sounds more like some 900-1000 rpm rifle.
The problem I had with the EX1 compared to the EM1 is the beam doesn't feel like a beam. It shoots a beam, but the hit registration feels like it belongs to a regular machine gun. You have to compare it yourself in real-time. Boot up AW and then Vanguard and see it for yourself, the impact of the weapon is as obvious as the reload animation.
It's because it shoot effectively real fast bullet. At 5000fps meaning that you in cqc will see not time but if you shoot really far you will see some delay also with how the guns shoot it's obvious you are shooting really fuking fast bullet.
The EM1 in Advanced Warfare originally had a fire rate matching 1 ‘bullet’ per frame, which is why it felt more like a legit laser. However, some cheeky people on PC exploited it, so the fire rate was capped at 1,250 RPM (oddly even slower than Vanguard’s EX1) not just for PC, but for consoles as well. The EX1 in Vanguard actually fires faster at 1,500 RPM, but maybe it’s the recoil that makes it feel more like an insanely fast firing assault rifle than a laser gun.
It’s a downgrade but it’s really cool to see stuff make another appearance. I loved AW but a lot of people didn’t so I honestly never thought a AW weapon would make another appearance in another Cod Game. Maybe they warming up to a AW2

As unfit for WW2 as it is, I love how versatile the EX1 is in Vanguard. So much so that I have a ton of setups for it. My first one is effectively an energy SMG using the short barrel, prism muzzle, and the max fire rate battery. The battery and muzzle together increase both fire rate and damage respectively, bringing the TTK down to about 185 ms instead of the typical 240 ms. While capacity is also greatly sacrificed, this is made up for with better mobility. My next setup is a close/mid range sniper of sorts. Using the charge barrel, the prism muzzle (again), and the range battery that sacrifices fire rate, this setup could net a 1-hit kill literally anywhere on the body when charged for long enough within about 40 meters. I also have a more dedicated sniper build with the charge barrel, also utilizing the range battery, but also using the range lens and 10x scope to capitalize on the 5,000 m/s velocity (not quite light speed, but getting there… not really). It’s unfortunate that the scope is mounted in such an awkward way tho. Last but not least, a burst fire assault rifle type build, featuring the burst barrel (duh), range battery, and the prism lens. As there is somehow recoil from firing a *laser* gun (while it would still exist if it were a particle laser, there’d be so little recoil due to the mass of the projectile being so low that it’d be unnoticeable from the perspective of the shooter), it wouldn’t benefit a lot from having an incredibly long 1-burst kill range, so you may as well make the shorter 1-burst kill range at 24.7 meters more consistent.
BRUH, why is this gun even in Vanguard? They put a fucking LAZER in a game that’s based in WORLD WAR 2. They didn’t have lazer guns back then! This isn’t a futuristic game.

Vanguard's EX1 doesn't even feel that powerful, and its shots don't even feel as hot as the EM1's laser. Seems just a huge downgrade to me tbh. And to make things worse, looks like a game from 2014 was much more polished than one made in 2021: the laser in AW actually creates some burnings and flames in a little area where it's being shot, while in Vanguard it doesn't even leave some simple bulletholes
