Idli is like a plain dumpling you dip in savory south indian sauces and soups, definitely not a dessert. I would recommend looking up what a dish is before you order to avoid expecting the wrong thing. Another example, daal is lentils, paratha is a flatbread, so you ordered a lentil stuffed flatbread. Google is your friend.

Yeah I chose based on the photos and was looking to try a variety of things, but I agree I definitely could have done more research beforehand. Thanks for watching!

Interesting concept. I think it's valid to be concerned, especially when it comes to cross-contamination and pet intrustion. That being said, the way this is set up like Uber or Airbnb seems like it might push more accountability on the individual chefs. They attach their names and careers singlehandedly on the quality of their work, whereas in a restaurant it is more of a black box of who's in the kitchen. Thanks for the information, Sarah! Maybe you should become a Shef!

Nice review, Sarah! What do you do with the thermal bag that it came in? Do they ask for it to be returned? It seems like that would be a big cost for the "shef", or Shef the company.

Thanks! Personally I just threw it away 😬…they don’t ask for it back! But it is a nice bag which could be reused.

Thanks for the review! Being honest not planning to hire them:
Too sus in terms of food safety
    Too expensive!

girl ain't ever had basmati rice. i feel like more research should have went into the dishes you ordered because it just comes across as ignorant. especially when you're giving it ratings, it's kind of unfair to give a rating when you don't even eat the dish correctly. just some thoughts. no hate, everyone has room to improve.

Thanks for your comment 🙂. I've definitely had basmati rice before 😉, but I'm not sure I've ever had jeera rice before as it was prepared in my order. And you're right I definitely am ignorant to a few of these dishes. I was looking to try some new things, and I ordered based on the photos, written descriptions, and ratings on the website. I didn't see the need to do a lot of in-depth research beyond that, but I agree I could have done more to confirm my assumptions to be avoid being surprised with anything.
I tried to avoid sharing much about the specific person I ordered from to avoid coming across like I was too harsh to the specific person, even though overall I liked their food a lot 😃.
