@@Homesteadhappyhour Weren’t many people there, at the time of this festival alot still thought the “thing “was still a thing……. Know what I mean???? 😎Sierra is great regardless of the crowd size.
I can't believe Sierra has gone from being the first band to open at a music festival to where she is at now in such a short time! She really shot straight up to the top, and is so deserving of it. Can't hide a talent like hers!
This! What kind of producer puts a headline act as a warmup band. They started the event on top and went downhill from there. Don’t the follow the internet popularity of Sierra? Unless Sierra had another gig somewhere else.
Yep. She's a headliner for sure. Best show I've ever recorded. Feel so lucky to have seen her in West Virginia play to less than 200 people and hang out with her afterwards. Doubt I'll get that intimacy again. She's absolutely incredible.
Sierra Ferrell. Always wonderful and inviting. Super superlative voice. Rare and soaring. We are so lucky to hear Sierra. Josie Toney's fiddle work is driving and wonderful and lilting on the softest of Sierra's terrific tales. Just terrific. Delicate, supportive mandolin by Josh. Deep in the pocket bass courtesy Austin Janey. Sierra is a sparkling gem. Ruby voice. Thanks so much Sierra and the band.
Instrumentation in this band is certainly top notch. But that three part harmony is just glorious, especially in "West VIrginia Waltz: wow. Love the dynamics and tight timing. These people are so well rehearsed.
Y'all certainly can't judge a book by its cover, that being said, Sierras voice is a mixture of the Great country, blues, jazz and any other genre of women of yesteryear all wrapped up in her voice. Her rebel with a cause stance and blazin her own trail might be unconventional an unconforming, but folks will think they've gone back in time to the good old days after hearin a voice that reminds them of another time. 🌅
This was a musically accomplished performance by the entire band. Sierra's taste in music is so refreshing and her voice is so wonderfully unique. One of our finest musical talents today.
@@slowerpicker Fiddler Josie Toney and the band keep developing deeper groove with Sierra as this tour has worn on. I agree they don't teach that, more or less. Josie's dad raised her playing contradances, but she also studied with Bruce Molesky at Berklee. She's definitely got loads of depth to tap to support Sierra. I love it.
@@slowerpicker I gotta say the whole band seems to have more fun and be better to watch when they have a rowdy drunk audience. Is there even a live audience in this video?
The pure voice like Patsy Cline and Linda Ronstadt and just a little country like Loretta Lynn, she is going to make waves and bring back traditional Country.
I agree with Patsy Cline, but I think her chops are better than Linda R. and I have been her fan for years. Sierra is herself but she seems to channel other singers. Sometimes I hear Patti Page and other times I hear Bonnie Raitt. Her vocal prowess is all over the map!
All the praise for Sierra Ferrell - I second that emotion. When the song calls for it, Sierra Ferrell can be sublime, I'd say, in the ballpark with Patsy Cline. I'd like to hear Sierra Ferrell cover "Sweet Dreams Of You" (at the appropriate occasion) or Tish Hinojosa's "Closer Still" wow, that melody reaches a high note over a tense chord, Lord help me.
I was wondering how there couldn't be a huge crowd because she's becoming my favorite artist, but then I remembered COVID. That's how good this set is. I completely forgot about what's been the Big Thing for 2 years. 😅
We must have slipped into an alternate reality. That's the only way this makes sense. This crew as openers would be impossible any other way. Must have been one hell of a lineup. Thanks for the video.

Sierra is a pro. Natural gifted singing and talented playing but she's worked at this a lot through many years and though Rounder has embellished her offerings, there are solid arrangements and top shelf talent around her bringing her into a new league..., so that's worth supporting.... but live is where the excitement is I think.
but also let's remember that the recording sessions bring other musicians work too which has value. But yep, she and her present touring group are the real deal on stage! - kickin'!

While I absolutely agree, keep in mind that this was recorded during peak pandemic
there was literally no audience allowed it was a virtual concert
